Just to clear things up, this is not a ceremony just for the opening of the parcel. It's a yearly commemoration (?) of a battle that found place in 1612. The opening of the parcel is just crammed into the programme.

Yep, I agree. This is all a little bit too much of a performance now for me to trust whatever is inside it.

I think they are blowing this out of all proportion, which suggests to me that they know what's in it. That suggests to me that they have probably orchestrated a lot of this for publicity.

They're basically making a massive tourism advert, and I'm surprised there isn't a sign over the package with "Sponsored By *insert corporation here* "

There seems to be a misunderstanding. This event is not for the opening of the package. This is for celebrating the local culture and the opening of the package is just a part of this.

This isn't all just for the package, it's also the memorial of a battle

The opening of the parcel will take place today in Otta as the town celebrates the 400th anniversary of the Battle of Kringen.

I must say, I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the live stream considering the event has gone viral.

No, wrong. As stated earlier, the show is not just for the parcel. The parcel is simply put in the show, which finds place yearly, because someone found it a fitting moment to open it.
