"Regarding spirituality, whatever that means, I pretty sure I have zero tolerance for whatever spirituality is, and I might even be horribly allergic to it. Whatever spirituality is, keep it away from me, or I might vomit.

Same thing goes for anything given by god, so, anything god-given can be given back because I want nothing to do with any gods.

I wish all the gods for all the religions would come and pick up all their peoples and take them to heaven or where ever they want to go so I don't have to deal with so many freaks, or at least just let the Rapture happen so all the Christians go away, because they're the worst.
I'm pretty much okay with Hindus, Buddhists, and any other belief system that minds their own business and doesn't try to push their system of belief on me. All the other totalitarian paternalistic control freak religions that require absolute obedience or eternal suffering can keep all their utterly ridiculous backwards dogmas."

That's gold!
You've just turned the ground for my imaginary utopia. … We can only dream.

You obviously don't see what the problem with all of this is.
I guess you probably think that the government has your best interest at heart ?
When they come for you, you won't be thinking that they have your best interest in mind. They will have theirs.
Cheers to you !

I live in a relatively small college town in northern U.S. I see C.C. cameras up around town, and not just a few. it looks like how I thought england and western europe were. I would see televsion shows, and travel channel type programs, and there were cameras everywhere, now its like that in my small college town.

Is this really a big Shocker???? Come on !

Did any of you here actually think they were installing these cameras for OUR "safety"?

So: those spooky new "circular" dark globe cameras installed in your neighborhood park, town, or city—they aren't just passively monitoring. They're plugged into Trapwire and they are potentially monitoring every single person via facial recognition.

I'd like to see the original documents or emails.

First of all, let's get an ACCURATE picture of the truth of the matter. It is NOT "surveillance cameras around the country" as that implies every camera. (It does not say "CERTAIN" cameras...)

So, it's supposedly the half-globe type that are part of city property ONLY. I'm not minimizing the news. I'm RESTATING it properly so people understand what is being said.

So, I don't know, maybe the the SS office? Maybe the court house? Maybe city hall? I don't know about you, but my park doesn't have cameras.

They don't mention traffic cameras, so I guess those are not what we're talking about.

This really seems like a bunch of fear porn to me. Anyone who is doing anything illegal will just wear a hat and sunglasses. So much for that spy network. This is being sensationalized.

I'd like to see the original emails. I doubt they have emails from every state saying they're all doing it.

Seeing how they hype up every freaking story they can just to make news, get clicks, and have advertising revenue, I refuse to have an opinion on this because it has been pulled out of context.

If you want the real story, you need to see the original emails in context. I'd bet a lot of money that they are blowing this out of proportion or twisting the story around.

I was just wondering is there any way to determine which security cameras are patched into this system? Do the Trapwire cameras have any identifying features? Are they certain specific camera systems? Do they have any identifying markings on them? Antennas to relay the feed? Or is there no way to determine ahead of time which cameras are attached to this system? Is every camera capable of being connected to trapwire?

I would say you could go look at them. But I dont think they would want you looking at the video systems around places like nuclear power plants or even Koch Brothers refineries. Most of these camera systems that are high tech with secret capabilities are those used to protect infrastructers. There would be some around federal buildings or even subway systems. The kind you see at red lights would be limited to snap shots of cars mostly trying to catch the car and its tag not the people in it.

The complant about this should be at the corporate end of this spying. Have you even noticed the new commercials about finding baby sitters and you can do a complete back ground check on them. What a requirement for a job. You must release your private data to the corporation to hand out to anybody they want to give it to. And all that for a babysitters pay?

How about Life Lock commercials on TV theres a hidden meaning behind those robots marching in the streets with there chest glowing red. Irobot comes to mind. Its a hint your selling your information to a company who gets rich selling all your data third party to the government. Thats why the government dumped Facebook on the open market. Why have InQtel pay for them when its cheaper to buy third party and not fund the whole thing. After all they were selling third party to corporations who were firing people for what there employee said on Facebook.

How about the company George Zimmerman worked for Digital Risk LLc. Government policy has forced mortagage companies to pay places like Digital Risk LLc to monitor for fraud. Why because they sell it third party to the Government when they find something. There using it to find drug dealers, money laundring and so on. And just to add theres a reason Digital Risk LLc was at the White House shortly after Zimmerman shot Treyvon. How could you let someone working for a government spy program like Digital Risk LLc end up on national news? Fix it! Another employee of Digital Risk LLC goes on a campaign Zimmermans not a racist im his black friend Joe Oliver.

But what they do to people on a regular basis is a scam. The federal government with its paid CISSP contractors calling themselves Anonymous hacking everybody. And when they hit a bank or credit card company they offer you even more free spying on your bank records for another year through a credit monitoring company the bank pays for which will sell all your data third party to the government.

And the people who pay for this the government really loves you because your helping to cut there cost for spying on you. Who said Obama is not trying to cut the spending.

How about the Progressive car insurance commercial on TV. She simply plugs a device in and broadcast all over the world? Well really what thats about is there new plug this little thing in your car and get a discount. That little device will record everything from your seat belt to turn signals how fast your going and so on. And Progessive will probly sell it third party to friendly competitors.

The commercial use of spy tech aginst the people is a real problem!

hi, I think the monitoring system used in pekin is similar if not nearly the same. my question is, say my animal went missing and I reported to the police operation room within 6 hours, the location is a crowded high rise community with few parks. what is the chance detecting my animal? if the animal went missing say 8 days already, within 10km range, city compound had not seen my animal, could it be possible the operation room employee missed it? do you have to spend long hours rewinding tapes? thanks.

I am not to sure about that. Lets take newark NJ for example.

19 cams, every one takes a bullet like in the picture above. This happens 4 or 5 times.

Soon they have had to buck up for 100 cameras, JUST in newark. Lets assume its $1000.00 a POP to fix them.

I can see the donut fund getting slim, they are cash strapped as it is. Keep popping them.

Thats a LOT of red light tickets down the drain. Boo Hoo HOO!!!!

Oh BTW, just saying.

Its a new form of database that enables them to pull up a huge file of info to use against you when the time comes.

You dont have to commit a crime for them to arrest you. Helps them get you on a list to use when martial law sets in.
Hitler did the same thing. People wondered how the german police managed to arrest so many of the government opposition members in such a short time. And how did they indeed?

The same as they are doing now! Build a database of any and all opposers and troublemakers and let it run a few years. While doing that make them angrier by threatening to take away some of their freedoms or liberties and wait for them to respond to it.

They have already been in your street. They have a picture of your house.
If you have a mildly encrypted wi-fi at home, they got ALL your data.
They probably already have pictures of your room if you have a webcam and plenty more if you have a cellphone with a decent camera, which you probably do.
You are on this website, you are most likely on their watch list.
Patriot act, baby, patriot act!

This calm before the storm is intended, planned.

Make sure you dont TRAP yourself.

In hindsight, quite a befiting name, this TrapWire.

I have the same views on everything you said regarding keeping files on people.
You also have Google that tracks pages you visit, collects info, and in it of itself creates a profile unique to your browsing habits aka your thoughts.

Then there's Facebook that never allows you to truly delete your information even when you disable your account. It knows pretty much your whole life if you "let it".

Also e-mails, text messages, phone calls. None secure.

The gov has all this info.
It is a devious invasion of privacy at best.

People say why does it matter if you are doing nothing wrong? Why would they want to keep tabs on you, what makes you so important?

Not the point people!

Like Monkeygod333 said, and I agree, it's probably for use when Martial Law sets in.
In general it's just so they have all this power against us in any case they decide to inflict their corruption at specific individuals or groups of people they choose.

Knowledge is power.
Night.

Who knows that commercial where they are talking about their software program that is helping local police cut down on crime by predicting where crimes are likely to happen?
At the end, they have the nice looking young cop pull in to a convenience store and then he goes out and is standing right by his car with a coffee right as the robber walks up, then he greets him, guy turns around, EOC.
It has a whole sinister meaning now!

M

PS - Someone find that commercial.

A LOT of departments have equivelants to this topic, especially in larger ones. They take received calls for service / types of crimes reported / investigation results etc etc etc. The results give law enforcement a good idea as to where higher crime areas are located in addition to what the crime is. It allows for resource allocation to those areas.

When you have finite resources does it not make sense to be smart about how you use the resources / allocate them?

Also the bulk of that information is a matter of public record..

In addition to cities maintaining their own information this setup is also available -

This doesn't come as any real surprise. The camera's are their, of course the government are going to be using them for whatever purposes they deem necessary.

these cameras are part of the guidance system for the weapons on the drone patrolling the skies. put a face in the system and it'll know where to hit. 30 years from now our streets will be crime free because you'll die if you step outside your underground reinforce tungsten carbide bunker.
