Unexplained lights around Southeast Missouri!

Hey all. I just happened to flip over to our local evening news...and this story was airing:

Close encounters of the Heartland kind

Some are saying there are unexplained lights around the Jackson area. So far people can't point to something like a weather balloon or falling star or even a plane to explain it.

There was video on the newscast that doesn't seem to be included with the online story yet...I will try to find and post ASAP.

Unfortunately, I personally haven't witnessed any lights...but will keep my eyes peeled and camera at the ready

Can't wait to see a vid when someone finds one..

Some say a bar of red and white lights was hovering recently above homes in Jackson. People tell us they were mesmerized by beams and light shooting from either end.

There was a big, red pulsating light that slowly came into focus. It stopped and hovered for a good 10 minutes. Suddenly between 3-5 smaller white blinking lights came from somewhere close by the red one.

This is your local friendly government agent reminding you not to worry as there is nothing to see here. Here is your official explanation: this was just a military test exercise involving flares being dropped from a plane that ended up reflecting too much light from Venus which was magnified by a cloud of swamp gas in the upper atmosphere. The fact that it hovered stationary for several minutes was just an optical illusion and there was nothing out of the ordinary.
