The "you" was not referencing you but anyone who owns a shop and refuses someone service. Calm down.

It's his business, his choice. PERIOD!

Quit making an issue, crying about it and go to another cake shop!

Why doesn't some entrepreneur look at this as the perfect opportunity to open a cake/wedding shop that strictly caters to the gay community and their beliefs.

The shop who supports traditional marriage can continue to cater to those with his beliefs.

Done deal!

any business owner with a brain would advertise a special to draw in the gay marriages

it's one of the few areas of business in this country looking at unprecedented growth

this shop owner is just stupid, plain and simple

Not because I disagree with gay marriage, I am actually in favor of gay marriage (although I think "marriage" should be done in a church, and they should create a legal union for any couple gay or not, that wants to form a partnership outside of a church). I think this cake shoppe will probably benefit from this backlash, and seeing as how they don't want gay customers, then a gay boycott seems to be exactly what they want anyway.

What a stupid way to show your discontent. "OH, so you don't want us as customers, then fine, we won't be your customers."

The boycott will just bring them more attention from the customers they DO want, so it works in their favor.

I could not have worded a paost better and wish I could "Applause" you instead of just starring you. My family and I have visited Chick-Fil-A twice this week as well, for the same reasons you stated in your brilliant post.

I am always thankful to reside in a country where free speech is still (at the moment) pretty darn free. We are allowed to hold different viewpoints and live different lifestyles just as freely (for the most part...minus beastiality etc.) But we need to stop trying to force others to agree with us and then stop trying to punish them when they don't.

I have 3 Christmas dinners every year. I know at least 2 of those are going to be traumatic. Every year that damn turkey seems to be grinning with all the emotions that generally spring forth on such a joyous occasion... but we love each other. We all disagree with concerns to religion, gay rights, presidential candidates etc. but we leave that table a family...just like we sat down. Sometimes it gets heated and none of us have ever really changed each others minds, but we still respect each other's right to feel the way they do.

IMO we have a society that deems that we must somehow agree on everything to get along, or to love another we must agree with every ideal they have. That isn't reality as far as I have ever experienced it. If one has a voice, then use it when you disagree...just don't expect the whole world to agree with you afterward.

And that is the end of my armchair psychological viewpoint on the whole thing.

It's not about money for this guy. He has has a line that he would not cross based an his belief system. He has what is called integrity. As other posters have mentioned, why doesn't someone open an all-gay marriage cake shop and exclude heterosexuals. No one's stopping them. I t would be perfectly legal.

The gay crusade to be accepted is quite annoying. Give them what they wont so they can stop annoying us already lol. Hope I dont offend anyone by saying that..

Because that would be ridiculous. That is a childish mentality to just do it back to "them" not to mention you would have strait people bitching they are now the being discriminated against. In fact i could easily see some of the more mentally deranged posters here on ats screaming over how heteros are now persecuted.

People should be able to go into a shop and get their damn cake. simple as that but nooo we have to bring pettiness into something as simple as this.

I agree. I happened to be in the Hillcrest area of San Diego during Pride this year. Did I care? No. However, there were multiple public scenarios of PDA, such as, multiple gay couples making out all over the effing Starbucks on Sunday morning, just as an example. Excessive PDA is disturbing to see no matter who is doing it- and I hate to say it- but I have never seen heterosexual PDA to such an exaggerated and unnecessary extent as I saw that weekend in the gay community.

I am for Equal Rights. LGBTQ is the last major minority to not be protected against discrimination.

I do not support personal belief in business that discriminates. I owned my own business for 20 years.

They discriminate - - - they better be ready to accept the consequences.

There are posters on here saying its OK for the business to discriminate - - - - then saying those discriminated against should keep their mouths shut and go away quietly.

No way should anyone who is discriminated against should keep their mouth shut - - and just go away.

They made the public Aware of this discrimination. Now its up to the public.

I've been supporting LGBTQ Equality for 20+ years. However - - the last 5 years has shown a real surge of support and awareness.
