The ironic thing I find about this whole stuation is that the cuts in the Army will save aproximatly £5 billion which they could of saved if they hadnt spent the last 10 years fighting wars that have cost ~£18 billion!

What's even more ironic is that prior to our little wars, which were apparently to protect us from terrorism, we didn't have Islamic terrorism in the UK. Only after Afghan and Iraq did they start trying to kill us, and you can see why they'd do so...

With the current round of cuts in the armed forces including the loss of several historic English regiments the troops, both serving and ex serving, have had enough...

We are organising a march on London to give the government what for.... If you want to piss someone off, best not do that to battle hardened British soldiers...

These regiments have 400 years of tradition behind them, much blood spilled under those colours... This will not stand...

On the plus side, with my conversations with the lads, they have woken up to the fact that our government is the REAL enemy... It is also good to see that many lads are coming on the march too..

This will get messy..

For Camoron..

When I was in the RAF it was made quite clear to us that we would be breaking Queens Reugulations by going on strike or indeed demonstarting against the government. You would be charged on two accounts unsubordination and breaking of the relevant QR. Good luck.

That blood was spilled so their children would grow up not having to fight and die.

Now that time has come, you shame your predecessors by supporting war.

You are wrong imo, leave it be and enjoy the freedom you once enlisted for and that those who died for you fought for.

So, whats the plan, is it going to be a peaceful gathering at the cynotaph dressed in civvies. or are they planning to make use of the Freedom of the city, full dress, Colours flying bayonets fixed.

Something tells me the latter would have a bigger effect. Right whos gonna volunteer to put the idea to the CO? if it hasn't already

Oh, and what happens if the English Defence League decide to show up? They're bound to hear about this off one of the FaceBook groups.

Not that I'm an EDL supporter by any stretch, but most of the trouble is caused by the UAF and their gang of "Asian youths" they always seem to have as their attack dogs.

Both groups are a bunch of idiots though, but the EDL isn't a "racist" group. I've seen plenty of black and Sikh guys amongst their numbers.

I despise the UAF as much as anyone else, but the EDL have been involved in a lot of racist (and non-racist) attacks as of late. Attacking asian taxi drivers, socialists (including a 60 year old man), a black singer and his family as well as vandalism, racist chants and other such idiocy.

I once gave them a pedestal for their views, but now I despise them as much as the UAF.

There is a HIGHER law of the land and world than that of the gov or the monarch

It is called Human Rights, an inalienable right for every child born on Earth.

ALL humans are flawed and prone to mistakes. 5000 years of recorded civilisation had proven that fact. Is the govt perfect, or the relegated constitutional monarch perfect as well?

No, they are not, and none of them would dare admit that they are perfect, for if they do, then they would have broken the nation's oath of allegience to the First Name on the list.

Every citizen has a right to voice out, speak up without fear or favour peacefully. And that's what those protestors are only doing. And for the govt or monarch to use whatever little sneaky or senseless tricks they have up their sleeves to stifile such public display of freedom or to ostracise them, then it amounts to a second time offense to the oath of allegience.

May the authorities be wise, and find ways to alleviate the pain, suffering and dishonor done to patriotic citizens whom had sworn and are or had been ready to lay down their precious lives for God, Queen and Country.

Am I dreaming???

Nope i support the strike by the British Army because lets be honest, since WW2 what are we fighting for? whose our enemy? it seems to me that every since the first gulf war and the Yugoslavian conflict.

Whom is our Real enemy? only now there are and there is calls that is time to leave Afghanistan and i agree with that, i am getting pretty tired of our Harper here and his little war mongering

Something I keep seeing in this thread is the concern that the Oath of Allegiance in some way precludes the activities of the OP. The Oath is this:

I "THE UNDERSIGNED swear by almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Her heirs and successors and that I will as in duty bound honestly and faithfully defend Her Majesty, Her heirs and successors in Person, Crown and dignity against all enemies and will observe and obey all orders of Her Majesty, Her heirs and successors and of the Generals and Officers set over me."

There is of course another version for those not of a religious bent. But that is an aside. Let's break this oath down. The Queen is the ultimate representative of Her subjects (that's us). By swearing allegiance to the Queen you are swearing allegiance to Her subjects as well. In other words, you (I) will defend not only Her but Her subjects as well. There is no Queen without subjects!

So, what is the Army there for? It is to defend Queen and COUNTRY. If the Army, RAF, Royal Marines, Royal Navy identify a threat to the Subjects of their Queen then it is their job to negate that threat. A threat to the subjects of Her Majesty is a threat to Herself.

The CO would likely lose his commission should he or she authorise what you are asking. This cannot and will not happen, the military have never been allowed to do things like this and for good reason too. The only way you are allowed to protest is in the form of handing in your PVR.

No need to PVR when the government is already giving you a P45

In fact is there is a link to even the existence of such a 'plan'?

It was also made quite clear, during the Values and Standards lectures, that soldiers are obliged to refuse orders that are morally/ethically wrong. Make of that what you will, but those values take precedence over the salary of some bank's CEO.
We could also argue that a protest is in the Queen's interest, as it's re-enforcing The Military Covenant which the Army as a whole and the government are bound to.

Can I point out that there hasn't been a real army revolt since the New Model Army? I'm not sure that the Curragh Incident really counts.

I absolutely agree. There are a lot of people who think they give up any responsibility when they join the military, that they're "just following orders".

People who have followed orders that then were found to be criminal are still held as responsible for their own actions.

No Human on this planet gives up their free will and morality. I don't care who is telling you to do something, or to not do something. Each of us is responsible for our own actions.

No government or monarch can tell a free thinking citizen that they are not permitted an opinion, or are not permitted to express it. They can try to force their will on others in that way, but this would not stand up in court.

Also, I would suggest that those military intending to protest make it public as soon as possible. You will have massive support from the people of this country, and if the government or monarch tries to stop you from protesting the crowd will only grow larger.

This needs to be played right. You need to get public support first through a massive campaign in the press. Find links to the national media and express the intention to protest and then if the government tries to intervene to stop it you will already have the backing of the British people. If you don't get that public support first it could be ended before it's even begun with those speaking about it being threatened and diversionary tactics used to prevent it.
