Noob question of the day.
What's COTTE stand for?

Cleaning
Out
The
Trash
Event

A more pleasant occurrence than an ELE, where only 75 to 90% of the population die off.

Well the spectrograms on that page did not convince me necessarily, however, I finally did go pull data that I could analyze for LHV back like a week or more, and have found a very similar signature, recurring, on many of those days, and close enough in time period consistently, that yes, at this point I will concur. I believe they are mine blasts. The pattern is clear enough and similar enough that I fully concede. Mine blasts, unless someone cares to argue another angle on it.

Sorry folks. But that's good news. Answer to thread question:
What's going on at LV?
Not a whole lot. But better safer than sorry. I saw something and posted it. The end. Thanks for your participation.

Just as an aside, now this appears to have been put to bed......

Is mine blasting so close to a super volcano a good idea? Is there a potential for vibrations to trigger things or is that total pie in the sky thinking? Help would be appreciated!

I'm scared after BP and others that are suppose to protect us from mis management to be found responsible for being careless with the operations that lead to the explosion. Not too mention the oil refinery accidents that have killed workers from explosions, etc....

The work is dangerous and so are the risks to the environment. When you get complacent about safety...beware.

Why mine blasts? 5 minute duration? And originally you didn't think the signatures looked like mine blasts.

I'm not so sure they would typically blast every day at the same time either. If it looks more seismic, what if it is JKrog's Underground Transit System.

I'm not so sure this is blasting. If it really is blasting, their should be some type of publication to warn the surrounding community. All the mining operations and road-building operations I have ever been associated with would publish their blasting schedule so the local law enforcement was aware in case calls came in. We should be able to confirm the mining angle pretty easily if that is causing the spikes.

OK Final update, I just received word back, and a pro concurs that they are blasts. So that does it for me on these particular events.

But guess what, there is more news. I can't share all of it because that would divulge too much info, but I will summarize. So there IS actually "something going on at LV"

1) deformation rates at Long Valley have sped up over the last year or so.

2) Their focus appears to be on the resurgent dome in the western caldera, and Sierra Block, south of the caldera, which is both poorly monitored and seismically active.

3) Since late summer 2011, the rate of extension is about 2.4 cm/yr, on par with the previous significant extension between 2002 and 2003.

4) However, my contact also notes: "in the late 90s the rate of extension (ground deformation) was better than 5 times today's rate." So it appears things have been worse than now before, and no eruption.

While the signatures turned out to be blasts, still, it is cool to get an update on what's going on out there. So there ya have it folks, posted, questioned, debunked, and updated, pretty quick. Only at ATS!

Why am I always the expert?

www.iris.edu...

I recognize that signature.

Thats a pyramid, and it symbolizes the eye of God on top, and above that to the left, is the direction which is left leaning in political terms.

So what it says is America is left leaning liberal conservative, Olympian.

As far as the caldera goes, God is saying, make my day.
WRT Syria.

In case you want to pretend you don't know what he means by that, Yellowstone was never a supervolcano, until you invaded Iraq.
But how would YOU know that?

Hey I just thought of something. That region might be a great location for a huge new trade depot, a 20 billion dollar trade depot, a hub, that could be one of many, that could span the globe like the Internet, and be its commercial backbone, for trade. Different rules for us. We, are the movers and shakers. We, know how to get things done. We, like to get a good deal and not pay high prices! (Chinese accent required) Lets face it, in terms of our own economic leanings and our own shopping tastes, we like a free market, we expect that if we dig deeper in a search engine and we do some leg work we will get a better deal than the next guy.
WE get to choose who we will use to buy from and we set terms as a group, and we insist on certain rights and protections under the law. When we get goods, we expect to get what was advertised and if it doesn't work we return it. Well believe it or not, the Chinese and all of Asia and India are doing that and offering that, and the alternative, is NATO controls, and PRICE FIXING. We don't want price fixing.

We want a free market. The Internet is a global free marketplace. Not an old boys club of elitist cronies!

We, protest against elitist cronies all the time. They have their oil and their guns and their bombs, and their luxury cars they ship around, well we will not stand idly by while those bullies try to force us, to OUR knees, to eat poo!
Will we???

So then lets have a vote. Who is in favor of giving hundreds of millions to a few banks in Europe in the Middle East instead of building a trade network of hubs? This, is not a democracy.

The nice thing about the Internet, is that it is modular, and its people operate on logic and reason and sound thinking based on science. So do that in one module, and the result will apply across the net, since it is a congruent, body of intellectual people.

Hi,

Long time lurker here...Sorry if someone already mentioned this but I thought I might be able to shed some light on this since I live 25 miles North of Mono Lake. If the tremor is in fact 50km to the Northeast of the LV Caldera maybe its possible that the Army Depot in Hawthorne NV have been detonating a large amount of ordinance at their disposal site which is to the East of Mono Lake just around the CA/NV border. The Army Depot does underground detonations of old WW2 ordinance in order to get rid of it...just a thought.

I think you and BobAthome and Robin ought to all move in together. Just be sure and save me a spare bedroom upstairs.

I might visit occasionally, and even spend the night, but will always return to the real world for most of my days.

Thanks, and yeah, don't mean to worry, but damn....that signature DOES really concern me.

Nobody freak though until the experts freak. And they won't freak no matter what, so...
But I am on it. Not long after that signature occurred, there was another small microquake that happened, but curiously, that registered on all the other seismos at LV, not on these. These stations are to the east and slightly north of Mono Lake. It is possible, with all the telemetry error going around, that this could be error. But it sure doesn't look like it to me. That content shows seismic, if I've ever seen it.

Could it be underground nuclear testing????

Let me just speak in Olympian terms here for a second.

So we were thinking of ten, 20 billion dollar hubs, that would form the main structure of the Internet's trade backbone. And then those 10 would rule the rest of the hubs.

And so that was yesterday and today they are saying well why not 20 like the G20,

So, again, 10 is the number of science, the next science level is 27.

OK, not 20. At 20, you need 7 or you will be corrupted etc.
If you have a really powerful scientific rule, then it needs to be ruled by a higher spiritual power.
I don't know if you are there yet.

But lets just suppose, by looking at the Arab Emirates, you were there.
www.aljazeera.com...

You notice they have a very strong religious overture. Now it helps them to live lives that are virtuous.
Like in philosophy, virtue. Morals and ethics. Socrates and Plato.

That is really foreign to America. As foreign as a Neanderthal seeing a homo sapiens for the first time.

bunch a cave dwellers.

Well that sounds fairly plausible (and hopeful!)

So that was why, I appointed the G7 yesterday over the G20. So you would have a ruling body of 27.

But does that mean we must have 27 major hubs? Well, I am not the only scientist on the Internet. Together we can make this thing amazing.

So getting to the point finally regarding the symbolism, I would be the left leaning liberal conservative spiritual leader, and that is why I immediately passed the buck, to the G7.

Since this is not a democracy, and its not a dictatorship, or monarchy, I don't want people camping on my lawn, its an Oligarchy.

Do you want rule by committee? (please say no to rule by the New World Order Committee)

Do you want rule by the aristocracy? "Tea with your opium my dear?"

I don't think so. Not on my watch. But if, a person, who needed medicine and could not afford it, was forced to order penicillin for his dog, so that he can buy medicine, well thats the Internet we made.

And it's more merciful. And it provides opportunities for all as best as we can manage it. With as much of it being free, and made by and for the people as we can manage.

I probably wasnt clear on this point. They detonate this ordinance underground on a regular basis and afterword you can see a plume of dust for many miles around. I've even witnessed small squares on earthquake maps in the exact location of this disposal site. Just food for thought.
