Hi All

Not sure if I’ve posted this in the correct place, first thread...sorry and correct me if I’m wrong

I’ve used the search function and didn't see any related threads.
I found the following article in a newspaper and thought it was worth highlighting as IMO it’s strange.

'Pollphail Village — known as the “village that never was” — is one of history’s most bizarre properties.
The small industrial complex was built and then abandoned in the mid-1970s.
The site in Scotland, which was constructed at a cost of £3.3million by the Government’

It says it was abandoned, all the buildings where furnished yet it was never used.
To me £3.3 million a lot to simply waste, surely they could have let a council use it to help the homeless and overcrowding.

Like I said just though it was worth a mention the link to the article is below

www.thesun.co.uk...

www.dailymail.co.uk...

Thanks

That is a cool looking little village, I think. If I had the money I would probably buy it

Looks like it needs a bit of fixing up, as I would imagine...But, I can see some real estate mogul getting their hands on it and making a nice little profit.

The seaview's amazing and it has potential. i would probably buy it too, start a town of friends and family.....but that would probably turn out weird?

the graffiti's cool in its own strange, ugly way.

That is what I was thinking. If I had the money to fix that place up and rent it out as condos or something, I might be tempted to leave that washer and dryer ( Assuming they still worked),just because I think that is kind of cool looking.

The view really is beautiful. Who ever buys it, is bound to be able to do well with it. I hope to find a follow up on the story some day to see who bought it and what they did with it.

I think the owners of ATS should buy this place, then they could give members of this site a discount to vacation there ;D

Sounds like a good idea, aye?

No just your preference and if your from a warm climate it makes more sense .
I was thinking it was remote but with the graffiti it cant be that remote, i'm curious how much it goes for.

If I'd know about that place I'd have moved there years ago.

Anyone know of any more abandoned villages in the uk?

What a great location near the ocean. The basic structures do not seem to be destroyed, with
some fixing up it would be a great place to live.

i just think its a waste of £3.3 million making a town then never using it! homeless and overcrowded council estates would have really benefited from it imo.

looking at some of the other abandoned towns i notice 2 where taken over by the military, residents where told you have 'x' amount of time to leave as we want it.
