Good to hear
I wonder who the main threat is to the boat, Israel, US, pirates or mercenaries?
Its not the first time Israel have invaded and opened fire on a civilian boat before.

haha could you imagine the whole armada by air and sea sent for the evacuation of peaceful citizens? They are many btw, incl mixed marriages - tens of thousands. But they could be evacuated with civilian aircraft. As it happened from Lebanon and Libya. Perhaps Turkey would not shoot them down while flyover its territory. Turkey is quite wise recently, being dangerously close and on the way of Russia to the Middle East.
So Russia is going to stay in Syria for quite some time. I wonder what's next some general would announce somewhere.

Gen. Gradusov, vice-commander of Air Force (translated as "gen. Degrees" by google, sorry), further said:

"Air Force will be ready to perform any task that we will receive by the supreme commander "- he said, answering a question about whether the Russian Air Force is ready to cover the air above Russian warships in case they are sent to Syria for protection and evacuation of Russian citizens there. Gradusov expressed confidence that in the case of a possible escalation of tensions in the area the Russians will not be abandoned to their fate. "Logic dictates that our citizens should be protected, and I am confident that we will not abandon them and provide them with necessary evacuation and removal (from the conflict zone)," - he added.

I understand it "the only port in ME available for Russia". Of course Tartus is not the only port of Mediterranean, we know that. lapsus linguae.
I watch more Russian news on Yandex and they also comment the rescue operation as a possibility. Pretty possible scenario if Russia wants to be there and doesn't have another excuse. There are many thousands of Russian citizens in Syria.

Remember what happened in Georgia months before the war 2008. Russia evacuated all its embassy and other citizens and their families in unprecedented move for any ex-Soviet republic.

It is comparable only to the foreign evacuation from Lebanon before the last Israeli war there. And of course to Libya most recently. If Russia goes to that move, the war afterwards may become pretty ugly. Including chemical wmd or others.

RT "Russian warships 'on way to Syria' to defend own citizens" on.rt.com/53ueti

The controversy with the Russian official and semiofficial leaks followed by denouncements followed by yet more leaks, make me think something big is coming, although we are not told exactly and will not be told before it is a done fact. Pretty much the Russian media style in the Fall 2008 preceding the planes and ships to Venezuela. We were surprised by the landing of bombers that was announced only post factum, despite they had 17 hours flight incl. along the US East Coast escorted by US planes. No one informed the public. What if it was the pre-designed start of WW3 and those bombers fired at New York and Washington all of their 24 supersonic cruise missiles? Luckily they landed in Venezuela. Luckily they and the following ships departed the area. "At the end we lucked it out! It was a luck!", said Robert McNamara about the Cuban crisis (vid on youtube). In a similar way, we will be informed of events after they are a done fact in the Middle East. I am not a prophet to say what they might be, several scenarios are equally possible and it might be something not in sight right now. Or not convenient to speak about. The end game is coming quickly.
