Guess what? There's also a plan for war in essentially any perceivable situation including even against America!

This is more than a hypothetical. Troops and bases are already there.

Does it mention what news paper it was on the front of or just 'the news paper' like we only have one here...

I'm not sure what the # you are talking about. The website this stroy comes from is linked to in the OP.

War with China would be a horrible idea, I'd rather go to war with America!!

Well, then defect to China!

The US has a budget problem. That's why we keep having to raise our debt limit. Debt means we have spent something we don't have. If we had the money to spend, we wouldn't be in debt. It's as simple as that.

And no, I don't think for a second a war with China would be funded by China. That's ludicrous. I was saying we would have trouble finding a way to pay for that war because a good portion of our capital is actually coming from China (the country who wouldn't fund a war against itself).

I've long been against picking a fight with China. If you've studied any sort of history with China they don't tend to give up. They used to suck at wars, and have been invaded numerous times. But now they have technology that's close to being on par with their neighbors, and they've got a HUGE army to utilize that technology.

As of right now, we may have superior technology, but they have the numbers. And if the reports are true, they've even compromised our machines with counterfeit electronics components. We're not talking about a poor third world country here, we're talking about a major country with big desires to expand its power. And, we're looking at a country with the ambition to become the next top dog. Whether or not they'd actually be successful in the long run is a whole other story though. The way I see it, picking a fight with them over something would be like picking a fight with a desperate addict over their vice of choice. In this case it'd be fighting with China over their desire to grow and gain control of things.

I hope this plan is like the other guy says, it's just a plan. But, if the reports are true and our navy moving into the pacific near contested areas, then we may find out sooner rather than later.

Dont you think the fact that China wants to be 'top dog' is probably why Chile, New Zealand, Brunei, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Peru.all want to ensure the US keeps a heavy presence in the region?

"

This thread as, innocent as it may seem........will rapidly go south. Interesting info by the way OP, but I'm not surprised.

There has always been bases and troops- as of late those troop numbers were increased.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about with regards to the newspaper, maybe you should read the article in your OP again..yeah, the article you posted but apparrently have no opinion on. People like you just post sh** you know others will lap up, in a sad quest for stars and flags but never actually have an opinion on or, you theme your responses in accordance with the most popular replies.

I don't want to be a Chinese colony either..just leave us be. America is a complete disgrace and I'm ashamed that we're in anyway affiliated. It makes us as Australian citizens appear to be fanboys of America to the rest of the world, but most of us aren't.

Sure, there are those who wish to assimilate their self image to mirror what they see on TV however, when it comes down to it, none of us have any love for or allegiance to America.

You appear very angry and unreasonable, so i'll type real slow.

The. Article. Is. In. The. O.P.

I have stated my opinion on the info presented here. My opinion is that the US has a lot of interest in maintaining hegemony in the region.

Thanks for that. I did a search of the URL. Apparently that doesnt work, and I should have searched the thread title.

Your thread looks to be a 1000 times better composed than mine.

I'll alert the mods.

I know where the article is mate, and in that article you posted it says;

"The existence of the confidential chapter was reported on the front page of the Australian newspaper onSaturday"

My question two posts ago was; what paper was it on the front of?

Secondly, in your OP you stated;

"Not much to say about it, just wanted the info to be available"

You then posted one more half-sentence..

Remember what you posted and said before getting all up in arms..you posted the info and wrote nothin of your own opinion until such time as you could verify the general consensus then form an opinion accordingly.

Again, you seem angry, emotional and combative. Attacking me doesnt add to the thread.

Feel free to add your angry comments to the above listed thread, as this one is a duplicate.

Have a nice day.

US war with China would be over in about 72 hours, China would squash the United States economy like a bug without even a shot being fired, US Govt will be so confused about what's going on that they will be focusing on issues at home, and not caring about military ones.

The US economy collapsing will lead to so many other issues at home that the military ones won't matter.

Nah, you're just avoiding answering the question I've asked three times now.

Then, you try and illustrate me as angry and attacking you. I'm asking a direct question an you can't answer it. It does contribute to the thread because it will clarify the element of truth to the article.

Grow up mate.

You asked me about info presented in the article. Obviously your question would be better formulated to the author of the article, who I am not.

Do you have ANY comments which relate to the topic?

Steven Smith is a one eyed leech...a US/UK shill and hated by even his own party...he wont be around long enough to decide when we go to war or with whom.

Are you under the impression anyone with power in your government is opposed to the US presence?

Are you under the impression that the real power of and in our nation lies with - the government?

Yes, many people in Australia are opposed to any increase in military ties with the US including many people currently in temporary positions of trust and authority.

More importantly, and unlike many places on earth we are perhaps more fortunate here in that we as a people are yet to fully abdicate our personal responsibility and personal power to 'government'.

Just because "Juliar" sold us out recently with her cow towing to Obama in Darwin..doesn't mean we all did..or that we all approve...if carbon taxes don't go on clean energy..and instead go on military spending..there will be nothing short of a riot...top to bottom and bottom to top.

This seems to be a contingency plan at best.

If you don't have a contigency plan to deal with aggression from China you are asleep at the wheel, right?

I'd rather my government expend the cash and energy on contingency plans for peace with China and the US.

Not total war COLD WAR like the 50-80s period.proxy battles hither and yon.China starts them Russia plays along and we have to police them up.The Terrorist thing just didn't raise enough revenue,I guess.Nobody does anything directly,it's far too dangerous. The US populace must remain calm or they might do something scary to all.And the money must be exchanged so it will be all secret.
But hey the Philippines will be happy to get Clark back up and running and Viet Nam will be happy to see Cam Rahn bay open to scare off those nasty Sino-stormtroopers.
There will need to be new weapons new overseas jobs. There is our income and a rebirth of production.

It's really just more tedium folks.
