Yes America did launch the Afghanistan war BUT you have to remember the Taliban are a group with extremist views of Islam, therefore the Taliban use that ideology to fight the Americans. They aren't afraid to die because they believe they will be rewarded in the next world.
The Taliban are definately not in self-defence though as they harboured Islamic Insurgencies such as al-Qaeda who in turn have attacked places across the West 9/11, Bali, etc.

I usually don't take ATSers for being easily duped by the MSM, but WOW OP and any who agree... The religion isn't the war maker. These are political, territorial, and resource wars. Yes, there are fanatical groups used as tools, but this post is the most infantile assessment I've seen in a long time. One point I've never made about this topic before - every time someone crates a "Islam religion of peace?" thread, they fail to take into account what completely debunks their claim.

How can you justify saying this nonsense, when for over a year Muslims risked their lived for freedom. They were fired upon, beaten, etc.just for their dissent and yet the civilian protestors across the Arab World (the masses) didn't raise a hand to anyone. Syrian protestors were shot for over a year before people really started defecting from the army.

So how does your 'Islam religion of peace' argument fit into that?

I'm a kind of person who people are the most honest with. So honest in fact, that many a time I hear the words: "I've never had these kind of discussions with anyone before" from Muslims. So honest in fact, that I hear from them how much they were raised to FEAR, FEAR and FEAR some more. And if they did not fear then they would get smacked until they feared.

Once you genuinely ask someone who has spent their ENTIRE life under Islam, why Islam and not one of the many other flavors the world offers, and hearing: "I don't know, in my day everybody did it and so it was forced upon me"...now that will change your look on a religion for ever. On the other side, I know Christians who have spent over 50 years being Christian - and they can explain EXACTLY why they became Christian, when they became Christian, how they became Christian. They never did it out of fear and they never did it to belong to a group - they did it out of love. Amazing really.

These people arguing anything else are simply ignorant. Sure, they talk to Muslims - but are those Muslims honest to them? I reckon not. Because there are characteristics that show in an honest conversation and I'm not seeing those in the vast majority of the pro-Islam arguments.
