I suspect that a lot of people will die of starvation and thirst if a big solar flare hits earth in the near future.

So much food production, processing and delivery depends on electronics that a huge solar flare that fries electronics could only be seriously bad news.

I really do not think we are prepared enough, mentally, emotionally, and socially, to handle such an issue.

It would mean a change to civilization's evolution and facebook's IPO.

We'll make it through it but there will be consequences and a population reduction. The weakening of our magnetic field and atmosphere changes is what may cause what would be a normal solar cycle to be bad. This is the fourth solar cycle and it could historically be a problem. Seems like every fourth one is more problematic.

It shouldn't be that bad but people go a little nuts when things they are used to disappear sometimes.

In fact, HAARP is designed to shoot into space. I hear HAARP is the biggest (NAVY funded) railgun on Earth. Officially it shoots radiation to the atmosphere to "study the reactions" (Wikipedia).

Scientists have stated that a major solar storm is coming. We know that the last time it happened it fried everything electrical switched on.

Why is nothing being done?

Interresting theory.
Unfortunately I tend to disagree. I feel that those flares are artificially made. Hurricanes were artificially stirred (Project Stormfury, Wikipedia) and still are.

You say it shoots into space and quote from a Wikipedia article saying it "shoots into the atmosphere".

You say you "hear" it is the "biggest railgun on earth" ? Where did you hear that, in the movie "Spy Kids 3D" ?

After all I know all Haarp does is using microwaves to heat small areas of the ionosphere. And even that is only a small fraction of what it does, it's basically a huge collection of measuring equipment. It's neither a rail-gun nor does it shoot anything whatsoever into space.

Yesterday, and I live in Northern Ireland by the way just to set you straight from the off, the moon was out in the afternoon, like at the same time as the sun was still up!

THE MOON WAS IN THE SAME SKY THAT WAS IN MY VIEW AT THE SAME TIME AS THE SUN!

We are surrounded by atmospheric atoms with protons that will become

Actually the plan was completed last year. In the US its Operation Solar Shield and the system has been share with as many countries as would participate. In the event of a large CME the sat grid get put into sleep mode and the electric grid gets powered down and switched off the transformers. The arial wire grid is then switched onto grounding rods. That pulls the extra charge straight into the ground. But you have to understand if the charge is large enough it will still collect at and take out the transformers. Miles of wire wrapped inside gives the charge a place to go and no way out. and then the magic smoke is released. should work on pretty large CMEs but we havent had a chance for live testing. stay tuned.

To me it suggests a symbiotic relationship between two living systems. I've come to believe that stars and planets are in fact, living beings. The Sun picks up energy and information from the universe and transforms/interprets it in a way the Earth can use.

The inhabitants pick it up from direct energy/info transfers as well as through the foods we consume. Of course I have no "proof" but my intuition has gone into insane overdrive. I am so excited about the future, I'm giddy.

More people monitoring the the sun's activities equals more people expecting to see a reading on a chart.

This equates to a above average reading whereas in the past it would have been more 'true'.
Human global consciousness has a greater effect than I think we realise. You can see a similar correlation in random number generators during times of global events.
