I think if all my expenses were gone like cars, internet, mortgage, all the trappings that make us "modern" participants in the world, I'd be fine. COuld I just use this moony to travel around the world.

You could live quite comfortably on that in many parts of the South. Many other places, probably not so much. I'm from a place where 2 bedroom apartments run about 600 to 650 a month.

I live on $600-800 a month. 800 if I work overtime. I am comfortable and happy. However, I do not desire material things as others. For those who do, such a small income might be harder.

I wouldn't plan on having, or expanding a family around it...but, it's very doable. If your employment provides insurance, all the better. If you have kids, and they are healthy, happy, and loved...then it sounds fine, if you have room for upward mobility at your workplace.

My husband and I and sometimes my adult son live on 1,100 a month. We made 14,000 last year with no handouts and no aide from the state or government. It wasn't pretty but we made it.

Wow, for someone whom has gotten rid of all monthly expenses (in theory), you still have rather high demands....!
2000 a month? That is allot of money. I know many people whom does not even have half of that, and they still have expenses as well.
So you are basically talking about having 2000 to spend every month on just enjoyment?
I think you will do just fine with that.

You'd have to be an idiot to not be able to live on less than $2000 a month.

Live with in your means... if you want more, and a higher standard of living... go and get it. That simple...

Mortgage makes you a modern participant in the world?

Wow I don't want to participate in your "world".
I'd rather be a primitive apartment renter.

With where I'm at now, I could live like a king on 2K a month. I'd give an appendage for that much.

LOL! I think YES I could if it was just me. Ive certainly lived on a LOT less in my life. Now we support a family of 5, a historic home, cars, and etc on right under 5K.. and do quite well with everything. Supporting ONE person on 2K would be a BREEZE!

You bring something important to remember to light...one man's penny, is another man's dollar. It's all where you are coming from that sets the bar. Living in the South...$2,000.00 a month is a lot of money to some folks, who get by on much less.

There was a book called "Mexico on 10 dollars a day" but that was 20 years ago. Today one could backpack for about $30 a day and be comfortable.

we're a family of four and have lived on 1400.00/month...right now we live on 2250.00/month.

don't owe much on house
own car
just a bit of cc debt.
what's killing us right now is student loan debt and energy.

Omg I live on just over 1300, I have a car and rent and utilities and provide for a dependant. If you can't make it on 2000 you are f'ing retard.

LOL I survive on slightly less than that, it is about cutting corners, knowing what to eat and when, maybe eating a little less, living with the clothes you have, and the entertainment you already own. wifi at various locations near my house & at work always help the boredom too
