A wolf can put on a sheep skin and call himself part of the flock too.

As stated before, I watched the Congressional Channel and it was the western and southern Democrats that joined with the Republicans in voting to cut food and increase military spending.

You cannot in my humble opinion, label a person by their "party name"............but by their actions.

We simply need, what I want to see is my tax dollars going to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, house the homeless instead of bombing the $%#* out of other countries.

Follow the money.

There is big money in arms, drugs (both legal and illegal), our prison system (both from the service industry as well as cheap slave labor (gulag) and it's all about profit.

Two really good books you might want to read are: profit Over People by Noam Chomsky and Corporatism by Jeffrey Grupp.

And I don't think the POTUS is calling the shots, he's a PR puppet.

I heard there are alot of rich families who get free lunch for their kids and food stamps also, I dont get it why, how what the what? explains the mercedes I guess, but the liquer, you should call the food stamp administration and report that store is letting people use food stamps on liquir and none food items that is so against the law
I know so many people who truely need it, they work 8-10 hours a day to pay rent and utilities they would starve without food stamps

Honestly, there are way to many people getting food stamps that shouldnt. I was in line last week buying stuff for my 7 year old and me, and the person in front of me was buying steaks with food stamps, and paid cash for $150 worth of hard liquor. And as I left the store, there they were, loading up a brand new Mercedes SUV in a handicap space, with no handicap plate or sticker.
Mean while I scrape by on hamburger helper hoping gas prices dont go up so I can still pay all my bills and rent.

First of all, saying that "there are way too many people getting food stamps that shouldnt", based solely on you observations in your area, is naive at best.

That said, your issue is not with food stamps, but the regulations within.

The chamber today passed, 218-199, a plan to cut about $310 billion in spending to replace automatic defense-spending reductions that lawmakers in both parties agree shouldn’t be allowed to take effect in January.

Read before you reply? Or do you get payed on an hourly basis?

Is someone paying you to say this? I keep hearing this same generic story, though similarly unconvincing (and almost like a copy) every single time.

Lol! No one is paying me. It happens, frequently. I have seen it more then once. Why do people have such a hard time beleiving this?

Seriously, go to a grocery store and just watch how many people today pay with EBT cards. Its a crazy amount. I was just talking to a friend who lives in Kirksville last month as he saw someone doing and they were driving a Caddy suv. People, open your eyes, the welfare system is being abused.

I am pretty sure we give more in Israeli Military aid then we spend on food stamp! Why not cut that? A country of 15 million does not need 8.2 million dollars a day does it?

I dont think we should leave our buddies out in the rain, but come on man 8.2 million a day for a country with 15 million citizens! I guess they are right I would rather see children go hungry here at home than to see an Israeli not get his paycheck.

www.ifamericansknew.org...

Israel receives about $3 billion in direct foreign assistance each year, which is roughly one-fifth of America's entire foreign aid budget. In per capita terms, the United States gives each Israeli a direct subsidy worth about $500 per year. This largesse is especially striking when one realizes that Israel is now a wealthy industrial state with a per capita income roughly equal to South Korea or Spain.”

I hope they need that defense money for gas to get the troops home.

I'm now working in a little variety store that sells groceries. I run a lot of EBT cards every day. Something weird is going on. I guess you're going to say "unemployment". However, the users also buy items not covered by EBT. They have smart phones, and the ladies obviously spend time at the salon. I'm all about economic equality, but I think we've created some monsters on both extremes of wealth.

BTW, the users rarely tell me they're swiping an EBT card, so we have to start over. They know they have to tell anyone who has a user operated swiper. Are the users ashamed?

Some of them buy loads of pop and candy with their EBT. What is going on?

Maybe these are people who are new to the EBT cards. Has nobody ever thought of that? Many of us are only one month or even one paycheck away from being broke ourselves, and if/when that time comes, we won't necessarily appear poor overnight. We might still be driving our decent cars and wearing our nice clothes for awhile-until they no longer fit or become tattered & worn.

Just proves that Republicans are as stupid on defense spending as Democrats are on social spending. Nothing will change as long as the American people vote D and R. Until the day it does, and I don't think that day will be peaceful.

This is all well and good that people can pool together to help each other out.
But your missing one thing.

I don't want these criminals, thieves and liars to be living in my country, stealing from my fellow American's to fatten their wallets and gain more power.

How does your plan fit with the solution to take care of these maggots?

I was wondering how long it would be before Israel was brought up and/or blamed. How predictable and laughable.

What does foreign aid have to do with defense spending anyway? The OP is about cutting welfare to keep from cutting defense.

I like your idea though!! Let's cut welfare AND foreign aid and leave defense spending alone!

Thank you but no, I do not need Noam Chomsky's anarcho socialist ideology. I do have one book by him, and I treat it as I would treat the Communist Manifesto.

I don't believe that Noam should be dismissed out of hand, personally. The conspiracy theorist in me agrees with what I've read, that he is probably one of the "gatekeepers," of the "official," Left or countercultural perspective, in terms of what the cabal are willing to allow us to think...but despite that, he does say things which I agree with, occasionally.

First of all thank you for highlighting aquaponics. Secondly, their are a lot of self-serving people out their on food stamps as well as people who aren't. What you eat has a tremendous impact on how you function now and into the future mentally and physically. A lot of the jobs the so called 1% are doing are self serving I am a 1%er I stack shelves for a living whilst runng a business on the side as well as studying to further that business. Why aren't jobless people hired to work in farms to feed the greater populous as well being able to feed themselves fresh produce and be entitled to free healthcare when required(not often)? They tax something which poisons you yet they don't find the solutions to stamp it out altogether. Why is it that America has made so many trips to space, yet they haven't developed a fuel source that would see oil phased out? Greed?....

Decisions based on the Constitution are easy.

National defense is Constitutional, food stamps are not.

Well then, the solution is easy - they need to stop taxing us for other things.
No roads, no airports, no education.

I guess you would rather not live in a civilized society where we have standards that are meant to lift all boats? No compassion for those less fortunate, only survival of the fittest?

We become autonomous. We don't provide money and labor to the "criminals". Their game can't be played without their pawns. If enough pawns walk away, this might make those "thieves and liars" a tad angry. They might dream up a reason to raid the "compound". This won't be to steal from us the old fashioned way. This won't even be to get their pawns pack. This will be as a warning to others. However, the news outlets would then be allowed and encouraged to report on these raids. It might backfire. Who knows? They probably have worked out this scenario and will already raid any successful commune just to prevent it.

That's the thing about all budget cuts.

They always target the poor and the people who can't fight back.

Nobody else is ever targeted by them.
