Earth Day is just another secular holiday created by the liberal media to sell things!

Ironic isn't it? Are liberals just jealous of the way real business make money?

Earth Day: It's such a hypocritical holiday celebration. Earth Day was invented by Gaylord Nelson, then a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, on April 22nd 1970, in an valiant effort to make people spend their time caring about the environment instead of snickering at his first name. The EPA was founded shortly after, and because of, the first Earth Day in 1970. Since its inception, the EPA has saved enough electricity to power 2 million homes by enforcing laws that prevent power plants from creating that electricity. Go Green t-shirts, bumper stickers, and home and garden sales see 200% increases in revenue this day as more people drive their cars to go to these stores.

Valentine's Day: Sure flowers and candy shops receive increases in revenues this day but according to Durex their sales increase 30% higher...in condoms! Love is sex or sex is love!

Easter Sunday: Chickadees and candies increase in revenue as little children await in their beds for a gigantic mythological easter bunny to come hopping down the road to spread little easter eggs that have really been hiding in the basement for the rest of the year. Mass marketing at its finest, because the religious folks could care less about this weird tradition.

St. Patrick's Day: a leprechaun will come to your house and cause chaos or just move crap around. Actually non-irish families spend the most this holiday season hoping to get kissed wearing I am Irish sweaters.

Christmas Day: A big fat pedophile, "he sees you when your sleeping," will come down your chimney and give your children the toy of their dreams. Sometimes he even stops by your kids grandmas house. Until your kids discover the stash of santa gifts in your basement some years later and become disappointed Santa is not real? This does not keep people from buying candy canes lights decorations and a plethora of santa merchandise.

Hanukkah: Even though it was completely created to combat Christmas from the Jews, they only buy eight gifts to exchange in eight days. This is perhaps the most spiritual holiday that has not been touched by the liberal media even though its origins are based on jealousy.

Kwanzaa was created by a black racist socialist named Maulana Karenga to help spread black power throughout the world based on a day of peace and gift giving. Yeah, dude you had to buy those gifts from somewhere. Not too mention the huge feast that comes along with it!

The liberal twistation of religious holidays is so great that it is a total hypocrisy much like everything else they, "fight for."

PS Halloween: How could I forget the devil worshipping holiday where kids go around begging for candy dressed as their favorite made up hollywood characters! It's a liberals wet dream.

Nonsense. I created "earth-day" before I was born because "my birthday" sounded too self-centered.

Let me get this straight.

You're ranting because liberals want us to remember where we come from and take care of planet earth instead of polluting it with all of our obnoxious chemicals...

And you'd rather us what? Burn some tires?

You're just jelly because you don't have a day where everyone takes care of you.

Have you ever thought that people just like to have a reason for celebration?
Imagine a world were we wake up on Christmas and say
" Yay, It's Christmas, let's do the same thing we did yesterday and the day before"
Of course sales are going to go up, but isn't that good for the economy?
I personally like holidays. It's not like corporations are forcing you to buy things.
In fact, I celebrated Easter and didn't buy a thing.

It was not created by the liberal media When the first E day came about the liberal media attacked it and said it was a distraction from the Vietnam war.

Don't forget, they want you to feel guilty and ashamed at what other people do to this world.

I saw your other thread about the Obama impeachment due to the Secret Service debacle. I'm calling you out on #posting on ATS. That's just all it is, I'm calling you out on it. You're ranting about absolutely nothing. We're sitting int he hub of a commercialized society and you're playing some left/right drum blaming one side for something that is woven into the fabric of our contemporary living.

We had an Earth Day event on campus yesterday and everyone took turn cooking food for everyone, different bands played, and various people set up activities and games for everyone. It was a mixture of hippies, suits, preps, southern, new age, christian, atheist, and many other types of people just getting along. It was fun. Fact.
2nd fact, you're #posting and stirring a pot of hate. Stop it.

It's hardly a liberal twistization of holidays.

Most holidays are setup the way they are due to marketing campaigns. A couple of examples:

1. Valentine's Day was a marketing campaign by Hallmark cards, because there were no "card based" holidays between Christmas and Easter.

2. The image of Father Christmas as accepted by children around the world was a licensed corporate trademark of the Coca-Cola company, one of those that they lost the trademark on due to massive public familiarity, similar to "aspirin" etc. Go back to books in the late 1800's and see if you can find any discussions of Christmas that mention Father Christmas or Santa, you can't. Father Christmas is VERY loosely based on Saint Nicholas, a German Saint,

There are quite a few other examples of holidays and/or holiday symbols that are complete marketing gimmicks.

Yup thanx for that info, however, you would think the holier than thou far left liberals in hollywood would think wait a minute we are selling products here! This is against everything we believe in! How dare those marketing campaigns exist! They must be shut down. Expect when it fuels their agendas and of course their pockets. So when they start complaining about the evils of corporatism they shouldn't have looked to wall street to bail them out. They should have looked directly at themselves for allowing the evilness to exist in the first place.

These are just your interpretation of each of the listed holidays. Now, I don't wholly disagree with some of these, however, I do find the injection of the term Liberal inflammatory and troll-like. While I don't classify myself as Liberal, I do find terms like Liberal and Conservative extremely short-sighted and ignorant. If by now, you don't realize that terms like liberal and conservative are delusions politicians hope the American public will "buy into" to distract us from the real issues. This nation is on its knees because of the agendas of politicians that you support, probably without much thought, because they identify themselves as Conservatives, or Republicans.

If by now, especially during an election year, you don't know that both democrats and republicans are LAUGHING at all of us, probably sharing a drink together at our expense, both literally and figuratively. We're fools. We've been duped by the politicians we think we "vote in." We keep these fools in office when we're spoon-fed their lies. If for a minute you really believe they care about you and your family, or issues like abortion and gay marriage, well, then, you're in bigger trouble than the rest of us. They use these terms to keep us DIVIDED! And a divided people is an easily conquered people. Wake Up man!
