Ok can anyone define "hypocrite" to me? Honestly, I pay 36% of my wages in taxes...how much did our President pay? According to this article he paid 20.5%! Ok now will someone here tell me how we can respect a man who hates the rich, though he's rich himself, then tells the rich to pay more while he pays less than those of us who are of the 99%! When will those who see this man as some kind of a god come to their senses?

He is a liar just as those before him who occupied the oval office were liars. He is no different, except in one way...he desires to get into our business, our health care, our school loans, our home loans, our car loans, remember cash for clunkers? He embraces the ideology of a government that administrates every facet of our lives...and you "hope and changers" are still following the siren song of this man.

I can only hope those who are sleeping wake up, those who have put their heads into the sand will pull them out and breath fresh air and come to their senses.

We have a chance to vote this man out this fall, and I do believe Obama will go down into history as this nation's worst president.

Frankly, the president has an accountant -

So I am not sure what pisses you off about that... And I wonder when those of you who see him
as Satan will wake up and come to your senses.

The economy is getting better, not worse and he hadn't gotten involved in any part of my
life. In fact my credit card agreements are more fair now, my student loans are cheaper
and my health insurance will not be pulled if I get sick due to my headaches which use to be
considered a pre existing condition.

So I think you are sleeping, I think he is much better than the last president

Right...because if Obama voluntarily paid 30% all would be well.

The point is that the laws need to change so all wealthy pay more...bottom line.

Don't be obtuse. He could at least show that he believes in the "virtue" of his position. He doesn't believe, he is a hypocrite.

Clearly he does, because if he succeeds he will be subject to his own desires,
time to embrace logic

Any normal person would assume Romney has an accounting firm doing his taxes.

extensions are very common, even for "common" people !

About 10 million of the 140 million annual tax filers request such an extension, according to IRS data. Romney announced the extension on the same day that President Obama released his tax returns.

Obama's return for 2011 was fairly "simple" compared to Romney's 2010.

Obama tax Returns

Romney's 2010 tax return

Romney’s estimated 2011 filing

there is no extension on the federal budget mittens

Tell That to Obama

How can people possibly be mad at obama for Bush's tax cuts?

Apparently, some people think he should lead by example. I tend to agree with them. If this issue is SO important to the left, they should put their money where their mouths are and pay their higher proposed rates voluntarily. But its always 'do as I say, not as I do' with the left, and their followers are perfectly happy with that, apparently.

But let me give you another example on another topic:

If this were a Republican president who was publicly anti-abortion, and we'd found out during his campaign that he and his wife had actually decided to have an abortion 15 years ago, the same people defending Obama would be going crazy about it. You see people around here all the time making the argument that Republicans should be held to higher standards on moral issues because of their stances. Shouldn't the same be true of Democrats? Guess not.

If all of these rich liberals/progressives are so worried about taxes,
why is it that you NEVER see them doing the "right thing" by paying what they think they should be?
Why does Obama, Buffet, etc... take advantage of any way possible to pay the least that they possibly can in taxes? Why not just do the right thing, like they think everyone else should do?

C'mon people. It is an election year. The system is designed to force polarity and make everyone believe they have a choice.

Why are enabling this behavior, knowing it is all to forward an agenda versus help force progression?

I have said this several times. STOP BITING THE HOOK!

Obama is not a socialist. He is a pure capitalist. He is perfectly fine with all his followers being socialist because it makes him a lot of money. Further, his tax returns prove that he got to keep more of his money instead of giving to an over spending government. How is that a bad thing? Yeah, I get it.....His talk does not match his actions and that is why people are mad. If you have not learned to not trust a politician's words then you are doomed already. They are fine with us fighting between each other because we will not truly notice what they are doing. Forget these dang idiots!

That is all we've ever wanted.

A leader of the people, for the people, who leads by example and not by what he thinks we should do.

You want us to go to war, fine , you are on the front line in the most dangerous area Mr. President.

All laws and rules should apply to everyone and not just a select few.

Two things first next time hire someone to do your taxes you were ripped off. Second if this is the current tax law there is nothing wrong with the president paying what he owes he apparently hires a tax consultant. Now there is one problem with this no one did catch however. Remember how they keep saying Buffet plan is for millionaires and billionaires to pay there fair share. And people like me dont need tax breaks but guess what he isnt in that category he claims to be in.

so in the end, you are mad at obama because bush made tax cuts, obama is working to set them straight, and paid his taxes based on the current system? You are mad because obama didnt volunteer to pay more taxes? Has ANY american EVER done that?

Yes, I just got the money back at the end of the year. Something that seems to leave people here a little dumbfounded, that if you overpay your taxes the government will actually give it back.

So even if Obama had given more, the government would've said, 'You paid too much, have it back.'

You're right, they will...unless you tell them otherwise. The US Treasury *does* in fact accept donations. Technically, its not a tax, but there's nothing stopping anyone from contributing what they believe is their 'fair share' above and beyond what the tax tables say.

I'm not mad about it at all. Actually, I find it a bit amusing. Poor, poor Obama. How could he ever be expected to lead by example on this issue? Its not like his own Treasury Department has a website set up to accept donations even if he wanted. Oh wait, they actually do!

And yet you fail to even touch on the fact that they are bush's cuts. Again, I ask, how is this grounds to be upset with obama? Because he didnt VOLUNTEER to pay more?

If I'm not mistaken, no one pays 36 percent anymore so I'm not sure where your figure came from. For Obama to pay higher than required is silly, to only make a point. Why not Mitt Romney, since he paid a lower percentage? But the STUPIDEST thing is...... CUTTING TAXES WHILE STARTING TWO WARS!!!!!!!!!! Because this requires something the Republicans like to forget...... BORROWING MONEY! First, I think the wars were ridiculous. Afghanistan didn't attack us, the former Taliban regime only allowed Al Qaeda to stay there.... if that's the basis for war, then there are a great many countries we should be invading, hosting terrorists.... such as many of our other "Allies" like Saudi Arabia. Saddam Hussein didn't attack us either! But we sold him many, many weapons when he was fighting Iran. Okay. So, the saying goes that Democrats are Tax and Spend. But what about Borrowing and Spending? Then we pay INTEREST to such countries as China or whoever buys the bonds. That ends up costing the American Taxpayer Even MORE MONEY!

Taxes and subsidies and loopholes and other benefits/burdens which are given to special groups is WRONG. When poor people pay more in percent than the wealthy, its wrong. Why? Because for some people, those extra dollars mean choosing between such things as medicine and food. That's inhumane. Yes, there is Fraud and Theft and Wasting of tax dollars, but that's all wrong too! The point is, we are supposed to be in this Together as Americans, and Fair is Fair. No one really needs to make 100 million a year, but a fair number exceed that. I don't care what reasons you give, its unnecessary and means fewer dollars are going back into the business, such as in Research and Development, health care and child care for employees, infrastructure, and so on. Sliding scale taxes seem fair to me. Getting rid of fraud and waste and theft is crucial. Loopholes for favors, big money in political campaigns, its all corrupting our system and unfair to all but the Special Interest Groups, which usually consist of either wealthy people or some other group that extorts through some other method, such as Unions at times.
I read on here that we have the highest corporate taxes in the industrialized world. How is that consistent with GE or Exxon not paying any taxes while also getting subsidies?
America is supposed to be about more than Every Man For Himself. It is supposed to be about All Men Being Equal Before The Law, and simple Fairness to all. Right????????????????????
