accurate enough for me at least!

Personally I refer accuracy to a greater standard than that, and in addition I would hate to have to walk around like the man in the minefield with his eyes closed and fingers in his ears ignoring all the other events in between,

The 188 cycle doe not exist.

Thanks ..but I was referring to one they found that was up the west coast I think in British Columbia ...The 2 chaps in the vid climbed up the mountain to a height of 600 ft. where the tree line looked different to see why ..they concluded that a wave had been generated and bottle necked up the inlet and took out all the trees to a height of about 600 ft ..or that is what I seem to remember ..but I do get it wrong sometimes ...peace

WONDERFUL graphic.

THX THX. Very helpful comparisons.

Though I wish they'd have included the earlier Christmas Bandah Acheh quake.

LOL, I was reading down the right side . . . and came to what I THOUGHT was:

"Average TOMATO"

And I went . . . WHAT???

lol was waiting for a lituya bay comment. this was caused by the landslide!! just to make that clear LANDSLIDE! which was triggered by an earthquake.
theres also the possibility of the mountain collapsing on the canary island causing a 100 metre tsunami pointing at all the shores west of it

The actual size does not matter. they are waves that are generated by earth movements: They have very long wavelengths (distance between crest and trough), that distinguishes them from ordinary waves.

Well, I am in north part of India and felt the shake here also, but it was very minor. Was ready to dash out but it stopped. Hope tsunami doesn't come and no loss of life happens.

It is the body behind it that counts. Your surfing waves - and there are much bigger surfs that that as you will know - do not carry a massive body of water behind them and thus break and dissipate relative quickly.

Tsunami waves keep on going because of the mass behind them. It is not just the curly bit on the top it is the whole swell.

Ah .. thx for the explanation i see what you mean
im not a big expert in quakes and tsunami
only felt little vibrations once and i though it was the washing machine from my neighboors

Canada is the safest place for quakes .. we dont have any
only very very small ones

the japanese tsunami was 3-4 meters i think ?
this is when it becomes dangerous but at 1.06 meters ..
you have more chance to survive and get up somewhere

And the energy for the past three days has felt very intense and strange. I've also had headaches each of those days, and I never get headaches.

BBC are mentioning it. Maybe it's not as huge as the doomsayers on here thought it was going to be, it's been downgraded already since it first broke.

You can almost hear the disappointment on here that the tsunami isn't on the way.

The ones who are disappointed ... should be ashame of themself
it is maybe cool seeing this on TV but it is a nightmare for the people on the ground
many wont have a place to sleep tonight if a tsunami hit

30 ft!!! Tidal wave!!!!

9.9 earthquake!!

OMG!!! This is IT!!!

First off. For the record, the 30 ft wave started as a misprint. Asala posted about a .6 meter wave. Someone came along and said they heard it was a 6 meter wave. This quickly became a 20 foot wave. 6 meters and 20 feet are very close to the same. IDK where the 30 foot wave came from.

Then it became 90 feet by someone making obviously false claims.
So was the 9.9 quake. It was someone exaggerating for effect. But...some people who were just tuning in at that point believed what they saw as they first hit the thread.

So the lesson here is read more than the last post on the thread in order to get a better understanding of what has been going on. Someone has their caps lock stuck in the on position, Julie just had her nails done, and is tied directly into HAARP; directing it probably...lol. Since she is getting news of quakes at least 5 minutes before the people living in the affected areas are feeling the motion!
