Disturbing children's cartoon, banned from TV

Be back in the morning its very late here and i need some sleep

I think there are far too many protective parents and protocals these days.

When I was a kid my parents and guardians (family and friends) allowed me to watch damn near anything.
My mind was open and I still drag it around behind me, collecting and discerning... My parents we're good at their job and that is more important than banning a cartoon coz it's violent or whatever.

I watched the chucky movies and nightmare on elm street, friday 13th, all while I was, what, about 5 or so. One memory that stuck with me more than those was a cartoon of the Headless Horsemen, that was scary, but I would never wonder into forests at night after that! I also remember watching the claymation in the OP when I was younger (watched it again last year, was brought up in another thread), and getting a 'weird' feeling from it, but Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Oliver Twist probably lead to more nightmares! I turned out ok I think... this is not to say go and sit your little ones down to porn and violence, not at all. There are surely limits, but if you can't explain and help them to understand right from wrong, and they're not exposed to what is wrong and right, learning and understanding are hindered.

It's always the same these days, more and more parents seem to fit the mold of Kyle's mom's character from South Park... moan about how society is growing your children instead of actually taking personal liability and being a responsible parent. Life is not all roses and it should not be thought as such in our formative years.

I absolutly 100% agree with you. Kids are now fed generic cartoons that don't show any creativity what so ever. Not to mention "NERFING" every sigle thing that's shown on kids channels as well. Don't get wrong, I don't want blood and guts on Teletoon. But clay-mations like this one are what will boost kids imaginations. Nightmares will indeed frighten but at the same time it will make the child explore new avenues when it comes to putting their thoughts on paper, weither it be drawing or writing.

That's some bizarre stuff right there. I never saw this as a kid (maybe I'm too old-didn't notice when this was aired), but I remember watching Gumby and that was creepy enough for me.

Funny the youtube post with this "banned from TV" title was posted on feb 18 2007 because I saw this on Adult Swim about 6 months ago.

ADULT Swim which is on late at night and has a lot of "weird" cartoons, you know, for Adults.

Wow, that was really creepy moving into disturbing.

I remember watching this a long tme ago when I was a kid. It always creeped me out but i still watched it.

I had very protective parents and even if i wanted to watch it it would have been a solid NO ..Infact they didn't let me watch that much TV period they wanted me to read books and find other things to fill my time ..But it was always fun to go spend the night at friends home so i could watch all the shows i missed..But i had no idea this show "The Adventures of Mark Twain" was even around so at 38 im catching up on all these shows peace,sugarcookie1

I remember this animation, I saw it when I was young....No wonder I'm so screwed up. Some things that I watched as a child have stayed with me until this day. Like the Raggidy Ann and Andy movie, that was pretty damn creepy as well.

Amazing how it touches my views on existence, and that for a kids cartoon, I mean this is deep existencial philosophy.

The one that creeped me out the most as a kid wasn't a animation it was the Wizard Of Oz ..The munchkins, and the ever foreboding presence of the really big hour glasses filled with red sand. The poor souls trapped in Kansas. Please make sure all family members are in the storm cellar before closing it. For some reason i always thought that movie was creepy..peace,sugarcookie1

ya i seen this before and it is pretty disturbing. me and my kids laughed at it though because how i teach my kids theology. but i'm sure it freaks a lot of kids out! thanx for the post,i had forgotten about this video!
