It cant be both ways. So Zimmerman lied there. So he has lied about the case that automatically puts all of his statements in bad light. Not the smartest batman this guy?

Zimmerman is an innocent man. Call off the witch hunt.

When the investigation is complete you will all feel foolish.

As long as there IS an investigation...I think we will all be satisfied.

Why are some of you so intent on not letting this be investigated properly.

Fox News is beating the other networks in the ratings.

It's not even close. Fox News is the best.

There is an investigation.

I see an NP coming out of the prosecutors office.

-------
This shooting is a wedge issue for Obama. That's why MSNBC has

already convicted Zimmerman.

Fox News leading in ratings just proves there are a lot of stupid people in America.

Ratings say nothing about quality.

I bet Zimmerman is thanking his lucky stars he lives in a state that "allows" him to be armed, and "allows" him to defend himself. Had this happened in some retarded place that doesn't "allow" it, he would probably be in a coma or dead. Just another statistic, another person assaulted by a thug.

Zimmerman was doing his duty as neighborhood watch, following around a suspicious person, which is not illegal, or grounds to be attacked. The moment Trayvon attacked Zimmerman, he escalated himself from suspicious person, to imminent threat to an armed citizen, thus he ended his own life.

Maybe this story will make some thugs think twice before they put their hands on another person, probably not though. Thugs are generally morons, more like animals disguised as humans.

Wow, i don't know what they are doing. I know how much people hate facts when it comes to stories that the media can so easily spin and slant.

I second that. I see people pull the "botched investigation" card everytime the police reach a conclusion that they don't agree with. I rarely hear anyone able to give any evidence though.

Martha Moxley murder, that was a botched investigation, and plenty of evidence of the fact. Where is the evidence here?

The minute Zimmerman played cop and pursued Trayvon, he lost the "self-defense" claim.
Not to mention the fact that he's changed his story three times now.

There same thing not from fox, people fail to realize that no matter where the news comes from the police still find Zimmerman's story consistent with the evidence and witness statements.

Wrong. You can defend yourself when attacked, even when you are following a suspicious person around the neighborhood. It's still defending yourself from a physical attack.

well, here is a reason why local state attorney did not issue an arrest. looks like george zimmerman's dad is a retired florida state supreme court judge and his mother is a court clerk.

rollingout.com...

can some one say the old boy's club protecting their own?

Wrong. If you pursue someone and begin the altercation the way Zimmerman did, you lose all rights to self defense.

Yep. This is definitely known in this case. There's also a lot of speculation about the fact that because his father is a retired judge, that's why he continuously gets off Scott free from everything he does, including his two domestic violence charges and his charge against resisting arrest and battery against an officer.

funny, how many here on this site ONLY give the right of self defense to zimmerman. trayvon martin was the one who was being followed/stalked by zimmerman and he was cared. he was doing nothing but walking home from the store. trayvon had the right to ask why he was being followed. zimmerman was told by the police to STAND DOWN! he did not follow police orders. is that not a crime? failing to comply with a police officer! the whole thing stinks of cover up and corruption and cronyism!

Seems like Zimmerman's story is changing a bit.

I thought he got jumped while walking back to his truck.

Now, Trayvon stopped him for a chat and then punched him???

Yeah...that sounds exactly like what a scared teenager trying to run away from someone would do.

His story is changing up, which means he doesn't have his story straight.... which means, he's lying.

Moving along...

I know what you mean. It seems many on here are saying that self-defense only applies to Zimmerman. What about Martin? He had the right to defend himself against this creep following him, the creep who started the altercation by shoving him in the first place. If anyone gets the rights to self defense, it's Martin, not Zimmerman.

Zimmerman's story has not changed, the media has changed it. Just like how this story started with them pushing the idea that a white man chased down and shot a 10 year old black kid for no reason. The media has yet to show a recent picture of trayvon.

According to the Miami Herald story linked in this thread.

Asked to confirm that the police recommended a manslaughter charge, special prosecutor Angela Corey said: “I don’t know about that, but as far as the process I can tell you that the police went to the state attorney with a capias request, meaning: ‘We’re through with our investigation and here it is for you.’ The state attorney impaneled a grand jury, but before anything else could be done, the governor stepped in and asked us to pick it up in mid-stream....”

“If you go with what was reported in the press the first night, there would have been an arrest right away, but obviously something gave investigators pause,” said a source in the Seminole State Attorney’s office who did not want to speak publicly, because the case is now assigned to a different prosecutor. “We get capias warrants all the time. That doesn’t mean we file charges right away. We investigate to see if it’s appropriate. That’s the responsible thing to do.’’

In other words they weren't covering up. The PA was actually in the process of taking the charge of manslaughter before a grand jury. They were investigating it and trying to reach the right outcome.

Basically the cops said, we think the possibility of manslaughter is there, but we don't have enough evidence for an immediate arrest. We request that you give us a warrant or attempt to indict. The prosecutor was leading his own investigation and it looks like he was going to attempt to indict Zimmerman. The public didn't want to wait for the process and the media slanted many things (like saying he wasn't taken in for questioning when he was) in their attempt to gain ratings.

The system was working the way it is designed to work. However, it wasn't working like a case of CSI or NYPD Blue. Unfortunately most people don't understand that life is nothing like that. The prosecutor's office was handed the case and was doing it's job of investigating and deciding on charges. Now the process has to start over with the taint and political pressure of this spectacle.

If the chief had just been a little more forth coming and honest all of this may have been avoided. Instead he came out and acted like an idiot. In an attempt to defend his officers and his department he came across sounding like a defense attorney and caused a bad situation to get much worse.

Police: Zimmerman story is 'consistent' with evidence in Trayvon Martin shooting

www.foxnews.com

A slain U.S. teenager and the neighborhood watch captain who shot and killed him exchanged words before the teen punched him in the nose and began banging the man's head on the ground, according to the watch captain's account of the confrontation that led to the shooting.

Because 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was black and George Zimmerman has a white father and Hispanic mother, the case has become a racial flashpoint that has civil rights leaders and others leading a series of protests around the country. Zimmerman said he shot Martin in self-defense and has not been arrested.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that Zimmerman told police he lost Martin in the neighborhood he regularly patrolled and was walking back to his vehicle last month when the youth approached him from behind.

The two exchanged words, Zimmerman said, and Martin punched him, jumped on top of him and began banging his head on a sidewalk. Zimmerman said he began crying for help; Martin's family thinks it was their son who was crying out. Witness accounts differ, and emergency tapes in which the voices are heard are not clear.

A statement from Sanford, Florida police said the newspaper story was "consistent" with evidence turned over to prosecutors.

This does not advance the story at all. Essentially the newspaper printed a copy of the report which was submitted when Zimmerman first came in contact with the police. The police confirm that the same statement was printed in the newspaper...

What is new here? This is already known, Zimmerman's version of events.
