World Population: The one cause of all the planetary issues, the Great Waves of Change

  1. Growing economic hardship and political instability
  2. Declining energy and natural resources
  3. Climate change and catastrophic weather
  4. Loss of arable land and fresh water
  5. Pandemic disease
  6. Escalating worldwide conflict

Sometimes, human beings behave like mindless animals. There is one ethical solution to all the planetary issues the humanity is facing: one-child plan. Yet, people continue to argue over the solution just to argue. The alternatives are death from famine, death from pandemic diseases, death from lack or insufficient amount of water, death from war, death from riots and uprising.

If people continue to have the view that nobody has any say in their decisions to have how many children they should have or they wish to have if they can afford to, then they will continue to contribute to the planetary issues from which everyone including themselves and their offspring will suffer. Such “liberty” leads to chaos as is being demonstrated and will continue to be demonstrated. We can no longer afford to be selfish and have more than one child hoping that there will be others making decisions to have none.

The planetary issues will worsen as the population continues to rise. The planetary issues will be gradually alleviated and the planet will be restored, as the population decreases. If the leaders of the nations and the United Nations would work towards the goal of reducing the world population down to 1 billion (the figure sustainable by the Earth) through the only ethical way, then we can solve all the planetary issues.

World population:

First time it reached 1 billion: 1804 (~ years elapsed)
First time it reached 2 billion: 1927 (123 years elapsed)
First time it reached 3 billion: 1960 (33 years elapsed)
First time it reached 4 billion: 1974 (14 years elapsed)
First time it reached 5 billion: 1987 (13 years elapsed)
First time it reached 6 billion: 1999 (12 years elapsed)
First time it reached 7 billion: 2012 (13 years elapsed)

1 billion is said to be the world population sustainable by the Earth
[(1 billion)/(7 billion)]x100% = 85.7143% reduction of population needed to have a sustainable future

Approximate Population Decrease with One-Child-Plan is as follows: the total population will decrease from 7 billion in 2012 to 992 million in 2082. The percentage decrease will be 85.83% by 2082.

Are you for real? You think we should adopt China's 1 child policy, and you buy into all that over population propaganda hook, line, and stinker huh?

The world's resources are being hoarded and misused in an economic capitalistic system that's designed to fail. The planet can hold billions more people no problem, but we aren't very efficient with the space available, so TPTB's solution is to slowly thin the herd and invent rules for US to follow, not for them to follow.

Maybe you should seek employment with the CIA or the U.N. and help them with their Agenda 21.

pretty sure most of those issues would be solved if we put our resources towards colonizing space.

we just have to take them away from those greedy, hoarding folks who want to rule us all.

The fact is that sooner or later the population will be too much to handle one way or another. The Chinese have got a taste of the good life and are increasingly consuming the "American way". Consumerism is a drug which will eventually destroy our civilization, but at the same time it has created modern civilization. Add to the increasing consumerism the exponential population growth and we have a huge, HUGE problem in our hands.

Last I heard you could fit everybody inside the state of texas, giving each a 36x36 space. Over population is a myth, and a farce. There is plenty of land for every person to have for their own, but it's all locked by government.

Since I live near an Air Base, all the "reservations" around me are locked down by the military, and I know there are hundreds of thousands of acres of land just around where I live, I can only imagine how much is everywhere else.

It's a myth, if you don't believe me, look up how much land is locked by the government.

Not that I'm a huge fan of the one child concept, but I'm pretty sure nature would phase out 6 billion of us over the course of the 75 years outlined in the OP. Just saying. Population Control is not the same as Genocide.

The Chinese have got a taste of the good life

They have? Working long hours on assembly lines and in factories for chump change, having free speech strangled, living and sleeping on top of each other like herded cattle, and watching their 2nd born children be murdered... sounds like paradise to me.

The solution to the world's problems are exposing (on the MSM) and arresting the Corporate Banksters and corrupt world leaders, right up to the top. Then we can take a serious look at the more than 6,000 patents currently being suppressed (many of which would eliminate the need for oil, most of Big Pharma's nasty concoctions, and a host of other toxic waste). We could travel around in Anti-Gravity Vehicles and turn our streets and roadways into pedestrian gardens. We could turn the entire planet into a lush paradise and each person on the face of the earth can have several acres of land to call their own.

You don't seem to understand the point. The wealth of the average urban Chinese is growing and he has lots of options for spending. The "paradise" that China has created equals extremely fast growth which leads to increasing consumption. The planet can not handle all of the world consuming like the US does.

Yes, we do. I think it's a BIG problem.

I agree. The system is whacked, not the people. The US and China can employ their own citizens to take care of their own products and food needs, with PLENTY left over to sell cheaply to poorer nations across the planet. The US corporations sent most of our employment to China to save a few bucks on labor and production costs, now the US is on a down slope economically.

Working 40-80 hours per week is not a Utopian society, it's an efficient system of slavery. We don't need to work that many hours, but to fulfill the needs of the consumer mentality, we do. The gov't promotes consumerism and waste, that's not the example we should be following, period.

If we don't consciously make the decision to have one or fewer child, then the Nature will take its course to sustain itself.

Thomas Malthus said the same thing....300 plus years ago.

Seems like the overpopulation crowd never gives up.

There is nothing wrong with this amount of people on the planet. The real concerns are resource distribution. There really is no need for people in the world to starve for example. There is plenty of food for everyone.

Yes, that is the point.

The planet can support many more of us, just not all of us behaving as we have in the first world in the 20th Century.

We are an inventive species. We'll engineer our way out. But only after things get so bad theres no alternative but to invent and change or die.

This is such a stupid myth, the fact that a person could buy into this shows how well dumbing down has worked. Texas barely has enough water for it's 25 million people and has almost run out several times. Not to mention that it would be logistically impossible to supply that many people in one place.

We have far, far too many people on this planet. We are in serious danger of going over the tipping point where we can't provide enough food and water for everyone (Africa and Asia are there already). If we had any sense we would be outlawing large families right to and ending immigration.

I do not say we should adopt such method as a policy to control people, but rather as an ethical solution with the understanding that humanity is and will be, otherwise, suffering from tragedies arsing from natural disasters, political upheavals, lack or insufficient amount of resources, and/or from much more unethical means created artificially.

Myth? It's not meant to be taken literally, like we should throw everyone into Texas, it's about the MATH of the space available vs. the population. All 7 billion can fit into Texas mathematically, no one is suggesting we literally do that.

The point is, there's more than enough room for billions more IF we managed the space available efficiently, which we aren't. So TPTB would rather thin the herd than clean up their mess, and have convinced people that that is the solution.
