WHO has convinced you of this? WHO has convinced you that "nature" has a mind of it's own, that it's gonna take matters into it's own hands to expunge the planet? The hardcore pagans who worship the Earth as their "mother", but hide under the label of environmentalists? You now have succumbed to a religious belief whose mantra is that man is nothing more than a parasite. How sad and tragic that you cannot see the darkness that has consumed you and our leaders, the darkness that God Almighty states that He will give it's short season to rise before the end of this Age. A darkness that has managed to convince untold millions that they are no better than an animal or parasite. A darkness that rules through fear, terror, lies and deception. A murderer from the beginning.

"They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen." Romans 1:25

You choose to ignore the culpability of groups who rape the planetary resources on one hand yet fund the environmentalists on the other. Don't you see it? The've brainwashed you - you cannot see how evil deceives. You cannot see how evil has denigrated your created humanity to nothing more than a "parasite" and you believe it.

Surely, food is not being distributed equitably. However, we are, indeed, losing arable land due to climate change and other natural disasters. So, it isn’t true that there is plenty of food for everyone.

yes it is true. We are loosing arable land, bot this is an issue that can be addresses if we move away from the present system. There is no need to kill billions of peeps to achieve this.

Too many adults around here in USA get married in their teens or early 20s, have a few kids, divorce by mid 20s, remarry, have a few more kids, divorce again, remarry have yet a few more until the female can't have anymore (around 40-45?) and still then i know some woman who had their 3rd or 4th litters in their mid to late 40s without much care as to birth defect risk increases etc.. the govt pays for their kids nowadays LOL

Then theres China and India where the planned parenthood is the noble thing to do but likewise its in one ear out the other.

How many kids doe everyday due to neglect/starvation?

What a bloody shame, breeders.

As crude a model as this was, the computation was off. With one-child plan and nothing else taken into consideration, it would take about 120 years, rather than 80 years, before the world population decreases to a sustainable figure, 1 billion. Again, assume the procreation of the age group 22~32.

Does anyone need to convince you of the planetary issues the humanity is facing? You can observe them.

Great change is coming to the world, change unlike anything that humanity as a whole has ever seen before – Great Waves of change all converging at this time. For humanity has impacted the world in so many ways, and the results of that impact are now gathering – gathering strength, gathering force, converging at a time when humanity is largely unaware and unprepared.
-From “The Great Waves of Change – Navigating the Difficult Times A.”

I am not here to discuss whether nature has a mind of its own or dispute your poetic personification of the consequences of our inaction as nature’s taking matters “into its own hands to expunge the planet.” Nor am I here to blame anyone or any group for the conditions the humanity is faced with. The consequences of thoughtless human actions that have impacted the world will now impact the humanity in many, many ways. It isn’t God that is punishing the humanity. It is just the nature of things.

Preserving and conserving nature is one of the most significant things that the humanity must accomplish in order to have a sustainable future, or, indeed, any future at all. You don’t need to label yourself as an environmentalist to know this.

I don’t think anybody in this thread is saying that man is nothing more than a parasite. Perhaps you can clarify what darkness you are referring to, that rule through fear, terror, lies, and deception. Also, who might these groups that rape the planetary resources? Aren’t we all responsible for that? Yes, it is true that there are those who do squander more than others. However, most of us would all agree that geopolitical conflicts carried out for resource acquisition is unethical. Yet, the same people would protest if gasoline price reached above $4/gallon. A simple theory of supply and demand should explain clearly that decreasing supply cannot accommodate increasing demand without increase in price. They pressure politicians until the price is lowered to the level of their satisfaction, however that price is achieved, but then they condemn the way it is achieved. We realize change is needed, but we want change that does not engender disrupting our life style.

Condemnation and judgment are not necessary here. Only true resolutions and true actions taken for the benefit of the humanity are called for.

Why don’t we work on encouraging each other for our efforts and restrain ourselves from condemnation, judgment, and blame?

Declining energy and natural resources... wow. You really do support your local congressman don't you? There are enough alternative and proven alternative energy sources to eliminate oil, coal and all fossil fuels within a 10 year transition. Solar, Geothermal, Wind, Tidal, Pneumatic are all proven, plus we have eCat, Rodin/Vortex plus a slew of other emerging technologies that will be more than adequate.

How will you build the infrastructure to implement solar, geothermal, wind, tidal energy to support 7 billion people? What energy and resources will you use to build them?

Climate and catastrophic weather is a varied and always changing issue. While I cannot speak to the multitude of causes, I assure you that while we do have an influence on our environment, if everyone acted responsibly to the environment, I am sure through technology and decreased direct influence, Mother Nature would share the planet.

We have impacted the planet enough to cause climate change which results in catastrophic weather. No amount of advanced technology can compete with Nature and overcome it.

Loss of arable land fresh water is of course always an issue, the lack of efficiency in our daily lives is spectacular. The lack of efficiency in our industrial lives is so far beyond what is reasonable it is not even close to sustainable, you are right. SO, is it that there are too many people or too many people wasting? Definitely the latter. Arable land is also something that can be influenced through technological advancement and implementation of current technology. Once again, the causes are not the size of the population, but the way in which we live.

There are too many people and there are too many people wasting as well. The idea that technology or advanced technology will solve all problems that we have generated is a hopeful expectation that cannot be fulfilled. If we degrade the top few inches of soil, then we’ll have lost arable land. So easy to ruin it and so difficult to restore….

Pandemic diseases are a result of too many people living in squalor with a lack of environmental standards. They are also the result of laboratory work getting out, they are also a result of lack of diligence in our hospitals and health care places. You cannot say that these happen because of MORE people.

It’s not always easy to live in a cleaner environment, if poverty is what they deal with every day of life. Can you say such is not happening due to MORE people in the world?

Escalation of worldwide conflict is a result of the leadership of people, not the quantity of people being led. The economic reasons for the worldwide conflicts are mentioned previously. Conflict is the only thing that pays right now. Until we change our attitudes and stop believing in the mythical money fairy handing out an existence, we will continue to have these problems. If the population was the cause of the worldwide conflict, why did the Mongels kill nearly 20 million people back in the 13th century when there hardly any of us around?
Conflict is almost always about resource acquisition either out of necessity or out of greed and ambition.

Whoever could acquire resources have been acquiring them using force or other means throughout human history. While the recent wars have had various labels as the cause, they have actually been about resource acquisition. Nations are becoming desperate due to declining resources. Yes, it is because there are too many people and also, too many people insisting that they maintain their living standards.

Last I heard you could fit everybody inside the state of texas, giving each a 36x36 space. Over population is a myth, and a farce. There is plenty of land for every person to have for their own, but it's all locked by government.

Since I live near an Air Base, all the "reservations" around me are locked down by the military, and I know there are hundreds of thousands of acres of land just around where I live, I can only imagine how much is everywhere else.

It's a myth, if you don't believe me, look up how much land is locked by the government.

That is right. It is a myth. And there is even more room than that.
Shoulder to shoulder 7 billion people would fit in an average sized
US county (2300 sq. Miles). That was county not country.
And indeed if all inhabitants lived in a single city it would be about
the size of Houston out to Austin. That's allowing for room to live.
Wouldn't want to live there though.
But yeah, way more room than we imagine.
