It was Germany who started the Muslim Brotherhood and they still pull their strings today. If you notice they are removing all the former leaders of said countries because they did not have the balls to attack Israel and the Muslim Brotherhood, IE: German Intelligence wants it done.

What would Germany gain if Israel ceases to exist? Do you mean to say that Nazi ideology is still working although underground, in Germany. All this Arab Spring is the work of NGOs from US and UK. Germany is not the main player in this game.

Although one could look at it the other way around and say that Germany is concerned about Jewish power as post WW1.

Some people feel that German Jews are enjoying the fact that Germany is having financial problems.

Muslim Brotherhood may or may not be German upbringing but this Arab Spring is US and UK in the lead.

The roots of these are a) George Bush list of 7 Arab nations to change the regime b) R2P policy which is based on the Russian Georgian war of 2008 where Russia intervened because Georgian army was shelling and killing people is S. Ossetia and in process also killed several Russians.

With that logic, if US invades Syria then it better take care that no Russians are killed as there are more than 100K of them in that country. This alone can be a good reason for Russian to get angry enough to intervene. Now can they or will they, is a matter of several factors. Their better bets are to make it very difficult for West to invade Syria or Iran and they are working hard on that.

People been screaming about WW3 happening for 50 years. Even GWB said that WW3 started in 2001-03. WW3 started with Libya. Now it starts with Iran and Syria. Then it starts with .... who?

Will the real WW3 please step forward.

For the west, Syria is a necessary precursor to Iran, because it increases their isolation and will take a lot of heat off Israel. I think the eventual attack of Iran will not include Israel, for political reasons, but that the west will try to create a shield around their country while a series of strikes are launched against Iran to 1) degrade their nuclear program, 2) degrade their military effectiveness, and 3) destabilize their regime.

Russia will not stand down but will also not stand up in military sense. Russia has few trump cards right now to put the pressure on West to not employ attacks on its allies.
