This might be a Halo effect. But notice a "contrail" and a rainbow like reflection.

Obviously a lighting effect, probably from the sun reflecting on something. You can tell it's just light because it's been split up in to different colours. Notice how it's also adjacent to the sun.

It could be, why not? Notice the path it is not straight.. a bit bent at the end.

Clouds. It appears to bend along the cloud it hits.

Well.. those clouds are feather clouds and they are high up, therefore this "Halo" is way lower. Notice last photo, the tale is behind roof top. So it is outside phenomena. Maybe as author stating: a plane reflected a lot of sunlight

Doesn't seem very out of this world. I'm gonna go with the general theory on something weird with the lighting.

You have no way to tell how far apart the light and clouds are, but I'm sure it hits the cloud by the sudden change of colour and direction when it meets the cloud on the far left.

I believe that is a sundog. I have actually seen this three times in the past eight months. Typically there are two rainbows, one on either side of the sun. Never had a camera handy, glad that you did.

I am in full agreement, classic sundog / circumhorizontal arc. Very cool atmospheric phenomena and a good catch.

Looks like a UFO using some type of sophisticated cloaking technology to make its self look like a sun dog.

If a UFO would be using sophisticated cloaking technology you wouldn't see it... otherwise what would be the point?

That would be like hiding in the woods with a bright flashlight
