Actually this post and the related aritcles, contain some very valid points, which are well supported by the linked material. The weakening of the family is the root cause of most of today's most pressing social problems, which were vitrually non-existent 50 years ago--uninteded consequences. These problems are exacerbated by nearly every effort to "patch" the problems.

Feminism is a radical marxist movement with some moderate wings which are used to present a more acceptable front. Feminism in its myriad manifestations is sexism, pure and simple. All claims of equality are but "window-dressing."

The entry into the workforce by women has had such an effect on the economy that it now requires two incomes to support a family. Prior to this advent, families were far more functional and the traditional gender roles were, by and large, quite effective, in most cases, when the primary goal of a family was the rearing of children.

Now, most parenting responsibilities have been given over to the public schools and parents are primarily room and board providers. This, of course, minimizes the influence of the values of the parents because the leftist controlled public school system has the children in their control for a very large segment of the day, when one considers the after-school programs that have been instituted to accommodate parents who get off work several hours after school lets out.

All of this information and analysis can be found in the professional and scientific literature. It is, however, suppressed by leftist academia. Presented as it is here, in conjunction with inflammatory fundamentalist Christian rhetoric, diminishes the impact of the veracity of the argument, insofar as there is considerable religious intolerance on this board.

One thing is for sure. Our conventional, traditional values, however flawed, slowly and gradually brought about the glorious Western Civilization, which has been maligned in academia for half a century and in that half-century Western Civilization has seen more decline that it ever saw development in any previous fifty-year period.

Whle I disagree that feminism in and of itself is evil, many of the current government policies in regards to families and children are without a doubt higly sexist and heavly weighted n favor of women. I had not heard of men being forced to pay child support for children they had not fathered though in truth it does not surprise me.

The fact of the matter is in anythng relating to divorce, children, alimony, or child support men are very heavily discriminated against.

Yeah I suppose it's a communist plot that if you're a man in charge of children and don't have a wife because she either died or is an unfit mother, if you try to get state assistance or WIC you get laughed at. "Well, you should have kept your wife." Well, either death, or the fact that the wife was making the kids psycho from neglect and did nothing for the household so she had to go kind of negates that. Both genders can be equally good or useless.

Well from about oh 300,000 years ago to 5,000 years ago here's how it went:

Men and women live in communities wherein they draw sustanence from the land. A man and a woman make a team, or one unit dedicated to propagation of the race. The guy, due to physiologically, is the protector and the one that does most of the physical work like hunting animals that bring the majority of calories into their diet. Another reason guys did the hard work is because males are more replaceable than women, since the loss of one man in a small society is more devastating than the loss of one woman. One man + two women = two babies in nine months whereas two men + one woman = one baby in nine months.

The woman in a primitive society has a seperate role that is still at least if not more important than the man. (Pay attention because this point is going to come up again.) The woman births the children, without this capacity the race is finished. The woman nourishes the children and physiologically is built to accomodate childcare. Wide hips help passing babies but also come in handy for toting them around. Since the woman is less dedicated to physical defense of the species she is smaller and weaker than the male. This follows nature's laws of efficiency. Since the women are the ones around the hearth and rearing the children, and also have a much higher chance of living longer than the males, their capacity for social reasoning (maintaining order and harmony of family / social unit)is higher than the males, who have more of a capacity for survival. Problem solving requires logic.

Then, humans developed civilization. Suddenly, men and women found themselves in an entirely different world than the one nature developed their bodies and brains for. Since technology is the great equalizer, women wanted and deserved the same abilities and freedoms that men had. Ethically, this is the right thing. However at the same time, it has caused a massive disturbance in the family units and social fabric of modern societies.

I don't think it's a plot of any type, and gender equality should be respected, but the impact on the family is still an issue. I wonder if divorce rates are up not just because women have more access to the workforce, but because both sexes are less committed to working things out because of that access. The part about seperate but equally important traditional roles drops into logic of a lot of groups that say that the effort for equality made the traditional roles look outdated. The home mother, or at least the home parent, is almost something of the past. When both parents are employed, the family is less likely to get good nutrition, and look at the paranoia it has caused in our society - kids don't play in the neighborhoods as much anymore because there's almost no social network in the neighborhoods! Parents have to guard their kids while waiting for the school bus because they don't know their neighbors, who are always working! In the past, the neighborhoods were essentially tied together by the women, with the men an accessory to the neighborhoods. This pattern which has lasted from the time tribes gathered around hearths, up until about 20 years ago, has vanished, with social repurcussions we are now only realizing.

So overall, the effort to get gender equality might have overlooked some of the benefits inherent in the traditional 'at home' mom setup. I think we can have the best of both worlds if there's a cultural effort to de-stigmatize the 'at home' dad issue, and that 'at home' mom issue. Also, cultural efforts can help encourage at least one parent to stay.

Overall, gender equality has helped the lives of women in many ways. But usually pros are accompanied by cons, and I think there are some in this case that we are only starting to realize as we approach the post-feminist era.

It has been suggested Male dominance of the household starts with the domestication of animals. Where we had to run after (hunt) our food before, we now had all our food at home. So men were left hanging round the house with a whole load of unused killing (hunting) potential in us and we let it out on the wife and kids making men the boss. Tha same would hols then for the woman when we started cultivating crops, as the women would not have to go gathering food, but I am not sure which came first the chik... er livestock or the crops.

let me give u my example,, my ex had post tramautic stress from a rape before she met me, she has extreme depression, moments of lashing out and physical and verbal/emotional violence, shes been commited twice by her doctor, once voluntarily, she cant drive, she hasnt worked in 7 years and she is always falling down from her bad knee or epilepsy, she has manic depression and she is bi polar,, after the insanity and abuse i finally told her i wanted to leave,, as a result i was surprised by a court order kicking me out of my home with an accusation against me that i was abusive even though i have never hurt her or been in trouble with the law for such a accusation,, i was kept from my children for 3 weeks until the hearing,, she was ordered to not remove ANYTHING from the home or take the kids from the state, she cleaned the place out,, she even took all my childhood photos and my deceased mother jewerly that i had at the home, she never showed at the hearing, case dismissed, apartment cleaned out and kids gone,, she hid until the hearing was over and left the state with the kids (thats kidnapping)

The results from the hearing took a week to file so i couldnt gain access to my home to see what had happened until it couldnt be proven that she ran off before the hearing,,she filed for 80% of my income for child support and permanent alimony and in the end after all the hell i fought and she didnt want to come back to the state and she wanted to live 4000 miles away and her rich family was willing to fight as many times and needed to win the kids and alimony so i made her drop the case if i dropped it too if i got to have the kids for summer and xmas and pay her no child support(so i can afford air fare for the kids to visit), i setup a fund for the kids college and if she wants to collect welfare she signed a legal docuement agreeing to give back the kids (the only way to keep her honest and trying to not abuse the system)

now i am not in need of a girlfriend, or a wife or anyones approval but ask yourself before u bash my post what would have happened if i was the one that did all this to her? she got away with murder and only because she was abusing the system, if a woman wants the kids and had the money to fight endlessly then she should accept the responsibility to support them if she wants to isolate them from their father, ( and if a woman wants welfare why cant she be trained to enter the workforce while the children are in school so she can get off of welfare?)

My best friend from childhood ended up with a situation like that. Before I get into his story I can use my own parent's story as a 'good' example. My mom left my dad while he was serving time for aggravated assault. Before that, he was abusive to her to the extreme while married and ditched what could have been an excellent family life to be a drug dealer in a biker gang. She couldn't leave until he was in prison from fear. She got 100% custody and a good part of his income when he left prison. Legally, I never had to see my dad again.

However she was very understanding and the prison experience in the case of my dad did transform him thanks to AA. As an ex-con he was making very little. She re-married and told him not to worry about the payments. My mom allowed me to visit my dad anytime I wanted, and since he lived so close I spent a lot of time at his place. Looking back, this situation turned out OK thanks to decision of my mom and my dad's recovery from alcohol abuse and being an asshole.

My childhood friend, Al, was seeing a girl named Nicole when he was 18 for about a year. Finally when he split up with her, she ended up pregnant, despite being on the pill and having no problems before the breakup. So, they got back together and he engaged her and they moved in together. She held a job for most of her pregnancy and then quit about six months in. They agreed that since she didn't want to work, Al would work and she just take care of the household and the kid when it comes. Well, after the kid came, she was essentially worthless. He'd come home late from working at a tool and dye shop and she'd be in the same sweats she wore to bed the previous night, the house is a mess, no food prepared, kid's hungry wearing only diapers, and she's stoned. I watched this whole affair transpiring. He was literally the only one in the house who worked, cleaned, cooked, and took care of the kid.

When they finally split up, she recieved 65% of his money and he only had his son on weekends. This was the result of the trial in New Hampshire Belknap County court system that provided her with 100% free legal counsel and him with none. Working at a tool and dye shop supporting a family doesn't leave a 20-year-old with a lot of money. She moved in with a guy who was on social security and known locally as a drug dealer, who had three other children. When we'd pick up little Al, the kid would have Cheerios stuck to his face, be dirty in dirty clothes, and acting completely psychotic for a three-year-old, cursing and hitting things. Al actually applied for WIC which is Women, Infants, and Children program that provides direct food aid. I mean he was broke. The only reason he got by was from help from myself and his parents. WIC is the program that is famous for government cheese. It also provides formula and children's food all from USDA subsidies. He was denied outright despite meeting the criteria on the form. The form doesn't allow subtraction for custody payments.

Al had completely seperate set of clothes at Alan's place he'd change into after getting a bath. We'd drop little Al off at the end of the weekend and he'd be bawling. After a year Al had enough money for a lawyer and they went back to trial. Trust me it's not easy to save up $7,000 for a lawyer when 65% of your money goes to child support. The ex didn't show up and Al got 65% custody. For the next three months the ex didn't show up and take the child on weekends and never saw little Al once. Then it went back to court with another 100% free state-provided lawyer. Al didn't have a lawyer being broke from the first one. The ex got 55% custody which meant 4 days of the week custody and 35% income from Al.

By the time little Al was six, Al was remarried, this time to a really good woman. He ended up getting his son for 100% custody when his ex went to jail after a federal drug raid on his wife's boyfriends house where they found a methamphetamine production lab.
