I am on my way to work in just a moment, but I felt the need to post this.
I have never posted on this site before, but I saw this post and I just had to reply. Last week, me and my mother were sitting in our home in Georgia watching our TV shows at night (round 8:00-9:30 EST) and we kept hearing sounds outside that seem to come from the sky. It sounded like a low rumble noise...like a vibration in the sky. It was hard to describe it.
At first we thought it was a helicopter or something off in the distance..(what else would we think it was?) it was not really loud but we could hear it. It was weird? We went outside and checked the noise that came from the sky like 3 or 4 times that single night. No helicopter or anything in the sky. We just forgot about it, then the same thing happens another night a few days later. We continued to just forget about it.
Now, after reading this thread.. I wonder if this is what we are hearing on these nights.

Fracking is done in specific localities, not usually within a densely populated area like many of those where the sound has been reported here on this thread. I don't find fracking a convincing cause of the sound.
BTW the earthquake video is interesting but hardly representative of what is being heard since they have speeded up the recording 16 times on that vid. That is going to make the sound far more intense.

Fracking. That's what had changed in 2011 to create these noises.... more fracking than ever before. It causes quakes, and quakes make ominous noises.
A previously unreported study out of the Oklahoma Geological Survey has found that hydraulic fracturing may have triggered a swarm of small earthquakes earlier this year in Oklahoma. The quakes, which struck on Jan. 18 in a rural area near Elmore City, peaked at magnitude 2.8 and caused no deaths or property damage.

You are talking whole countries. A lot of things go on in a country that may, just may, result in low frequency sound. But intense LF? Coming from the sky? That kind of phenomenon if related to fracking needs investigating wouldn't you say?

You got me. I am no expert specifically on physiology or cognitive sciences. But yeah, its reasonable to conclude two people will perceive aspects of the external world a little differently if they have brain structures with some differences. It is an interesting theory. Needs to be experimentally tested to find the answer.

I have been hearing similar sounds in my area for years (central N.J.) but never gave much thought to it, except that I thought it was heavy machinery
working in the nearby vicinity. The sounds sometimes lasted for hours, mostly late at night, but never until this year did I realize that they could
be something other than the norm. I believe that our knowledge of the 2012 hype has made us more aware of these mysterious sounds that have probably
been around forever! Common sense tells me that this is why most people are reporting this phenomena...they are in tune with the 2012 hoopla, and
will relate almost anything to predictions that swarm the internet, and other news sources. I don't doubt that some, or a few of these theories for
the strange sounds may have some truth to them, but we as humans have never noticed them so much as the past year leading up to 2012. I am glad to
now be aware of them, as I find the subject fascinating...except for the phonies!

Here's a map of where fracking is occurring in the US, can anyone say they've heard these noises *not* in around these regions?
According to reports on this thread a number of areas are where intensive fracking (your map focus) is not occurring in the following states. Arizona (Tuscon long miles from the bitty bit of fracking up north) and Ohio largely free of fracking, Oregon and Florida relatively if not entirely fracking free. Its a little too easy to point to oil /gas exploration in Texas, or Pennsylvania and say hey there's the reason those folks are hearing the sound.
For the fracking as source of strange sound theory to stand up someone needs to explain why the sounds are being heard in states where fracking is not going on nearby. And why where it is in large scale operation there have been no reports of the sound. They would also need to explain why the sound is heard in densely populated areas such as Paris, Bologna, Bucharest, Guaynabo City, and Amsterdam, where to the best of my knowledge no fracking is going on.
I am putting up the list of localities as it stands so far, gathered from mostly first hand reports.

I am not discarding the fracking theory entirely, but to me it seems as unlikely as the tunnel drilling machine theory. These are unlikely to explain the occurrence of the phenomenon in so many diverse localities.
BTW anyone want to examine these places for commonalities? I have noticed they are all predominantly located in flat lowland areas. May be mistaken with a few but by and large I think these all share a flat, close to sea level situation. The majority of these places are not situated near mountain ranges.

That is such a wide range...it's hard to say it is all fracking. if no one else gets to it, I will try to pin everything on a map this weekend and we can start looking for similarities and differences.

Thanks 100 million. I for one am very interested to see the results. It would be a good idea to add dates to those posted before August 2011, for added veracity because the hoaxing seemed to really get started around then. But hey, I'm just happy someone is adding to the project so flagging them on a map with or without the dates will be excellent collaboration.

These sky sounds sound like air being rushed into a vacuum...odd...
Well seeing as though the video in the OP was a hoax I can't help but believe that MOST of these videos are hoaxes. I watched the Kiev Accident,
turns out that if you listen closely enough near the end of the video you can hear what sounds like "beeping" from a large industrial vehicle in
reverse.

I firmly believe the echo- hum people are hearing across the globe may be due to atmospheric disturbance. This atmospheric disturbance is caused by
factors of a highly charged atmosphere as the Earth experiences more and more weakening of the Magnetic Field.
It may also be also causing...
Change in climate, radiation, gamma rays, new bacteria, new particles, geological events, weather, sea, sea life, animals, insects, humans, sink holes, and anything else that may be influenced by more and more energy invading us from the Sun and Space we are now entering.
These changes have been gradual but it would not surprise me for it to speed up drastically throughout this coming year. Time is really speeding up.
Just last night on my local news here in Nashville, TN I watched a local speak of creating a safe haven for his community and the local news also spoke of the Mayan Prophecy. Crazy times I tell ya.
While are atmosphere and of course all the way to the core of the Earth goes through these changes we can also expect to continue to see changes in the other Planets as well.
As humans we are limited to our senses. As our senses become more and more aware by this new massive energy we will begin to see and hear more and more we never thought existed.
To think we are alone here on Earth or in the Cosmos is a misconception. There are other worlds around us that do indeed influence us as we influence them also. Everything in the Universe is connected and energies that work together are powerful!! So....I think we will begin to see and hear more. We will see and hear sounds, lights, and possibly objects and or creatures as space time renews itself.
How did the Ancient people know and predict this time we live in? I have no idea....maybe we can ask them when and if we see them again.

This is where long lived comets are born. This is where there is a lot of LIGHT!
Ancient Prophecies speak of this time we are living in. I for one can only say that indeed we live in a mystical and magical Universe that is full of ALL possibilities. Nothing should shock us....that is for sure.

TBM Theory as a source for some strange sounds
I brought this up on page 1 of this thread, as a possible source of "some" strange sounds.
I would like to look at this possibility skeptically, and scientifically when possible.

Reading through the posts, I saw comments about how there should be giant waste piles of the removed substrate.
First, I would like to say that the volume of the waste is directly proportional to the original bulk density of the substrate.
That is to say, that drilling through quartz, limestone, dirt, and volcanic rock will all produce different amounts of waste, and that depends on the particulate size after grinding.
One must also consider that the ground substrate is then crushed to make the concrete liner, save space, and facilitate pneumatic transfer out. I consider the "waste" as the raw material to make concrete elsewhere and the fact that there is a demand for this waste (in a dry state) would lead me to believe that it would not be stockpiled in exposure to the elements.
I feel the need to De-bunk this theory, even though it makes more sense than any others presented. (to me)
I could use some ATS help here.
Need to find at least five "surface taken" video recordings of the sound of a TBM in action, underfoot.
If it sounds way different, we can move along.
Now I know some of you would prefer to go all "Chicken Little", and run around saying "the sky is falling".
So I must thank you too, as I find this illogical thought process highly entertaining, not to mention it makes a fine example of those that think this way.
