I was comparing two similar ideological movements for social change and noting the difference in effectiveness. The downfall of Occupy will be its hubris...

oh i see,
your a 1% supporter here to troll for angry responces,
ok i wont bite
in any group you will find idiots,
to point them out as representitive of the whole is disingenious

and pretty easy to spot

xp

You should see my bank account ! Its full of money ! from you 99 percent fools

you certainly will find idiots in every group your right about that

Here let my fellow 1 percent conspirator help you out .

I do not believe in bail outs of banks , they should be allowed to liquidate and take the hit. Recession is not always a bad thing its how the markets clear out bad debts. But bailing them out is only delaying it.

What i do not believe in , is punk kids with mixed messages , destroying property , using provocation to get the police to attack then cry police brutality , making up LIES for public sympathy . Stealing from one another , making homeless shelters , costing tax payers and small business much time and money ...

i know you want to put all your eggs in one basket and say if you don't support ows your part of the one percent...

but reality has a different point of view. I'll be doing my own protests , but organized , clear goals , educated supporters , and of course try and weed out the wolfs in sheeps clothing that seem to be full in OWS protests , but of course are brushed off as isolated incidences. Don't worry i'l give you an invite once i get organized

Untill then i'm going to enjoy this caviar in bed with my 1 percent buddies

btw i've worked 8 bux an hour for 10 years =p and also i have alot of philanthropic qualities ^^

I should join OWS and get 20 bux an hour minimum wage! what a chump i am

I was referring to your comment 'She maybe an affirmed communist but...'.

No need to apologize for her being a communist. There is nothing wrong with communism, unless you buy into the cold war propaganda.

BTW state propaganda has changed tactics, the bad guys are not 'communists' anymore, they're 'terrorists'

Thank you for coming on here and sharing your story. It's good to hear it from a first-person source.

I agree with much of what the Occupy movement stands for and I hope it's able to continue until some positive change comes about. That being said, the movement really needs to get its act together. I watched the videos from yesterday and can only say the protesters got what was coming to them. The police clearly announced that it was an unlawful assembly and that failing to disperse could result in arrest. The police have used too much force before, but yesterday they showed a lot of restraint and I think the blame squarely goes to the protesters.

You can't act like a victim when the police confront you for blocking off major streets and acting like a hooligan. (And I'm not saying you're acting like a victim. I'm referring to the movement in general) However, I doubt you'll have much luck fighting this in court given the video evidence.

Please, please, please show some brains in your actions!!! You have an important message to get out and you don't want to mess it all up by turning the public against you. We can fight this beast within the confines of the law.

are you saying occupy needs an articulate beatiful woman as their leader?
i do agree that would be nice but,
i think she is like a lightning rod for attension,

a leader must be without a backround or history as the media would destroy anyone who was offered as a leader.

your articulate would you take up the challenge?

Thank you for that well thought out and articulate argument for how people who think a bit differently than you are the scum of the earth.

I feel like the movement in its current form is ineffective. I think it needs to evolve a clear message and objective. But of course that is hard and I have no idea how to do it.

I was then taken to the Alameda Police Department where I was detained until 5am the next morning...when I was released after watching waves of other Occupiers follow in with their incarceration...

Hey MemoryShock, good on ya! Did the police process you? Take fingerprints, photo, DNA samples? I ask only because from what I can gather and despite your 1st Amendment, the US appears to be becoming quite a stringent police state and I think these police actions against Occupy protestors are in part, a data mining process.

I am saying that Occupy does not wholly represent the silent majority and without that support, social change (more importantly) policy change, won't happen. Alienate the base for which you claim to speak for and the movement dies...

after we passed through Laney College.

You can't state both, that you weren't involved as part of the Occupy group and then use the word "we" , which denotes you were.

Was this part of a parade? If not, you guys/Occupy folks, were obsructing traffic in the area. I'm fairly sure you have to have a permit to have a parade or at least permission to block the street. Not to mention, the damage to public buildings another poster pointed out.

Innocently eating an apple, is simply another way of saying you're a coward who was to afraid to march with the rest of these misfits.

When are you people going to learn that communism/communists are not the enemy.

Hey I thought you were a socialist, but here you are promoting communism, who would have guessed?

Hey everybody, ANOK said communism is not bad, so I guess we can just throw thousands of years of history out the window and throw caution to the wind and take his word for it. Since he knows everything already.

Gee I wonder why people don't like the occupy movement. There just out there burning flags and promoting communism. They don't want to hurt anybody though.

The term (communism) has been heavily propagandized, due to the fact the PTB are scared to death of it.

Can we be sure of this? I agree that PTB do not desire true communism or socialism for themselves but think it possible that they seek or desire a proletariat that believes itself liberated.

you don't need to do anything to get arrested at any occupy movement. THEY JUST DO IT! this video (if real but this would have taken some doing to fake) is very worrying. basically it's a guy at occupy DC getting arrested then tasered without having his rights read or being informed of what he's being arrested for. it is also quite important to point out that he did not resist arrest and he is also in the hands of the officers BEFORE they taser him.

Well done for being there I spent time at the one in London at Saint P|auls and met some really interesting people. | am sorry to hear that projectiles were being fired into the crowd that kind of thing is a lot rarer in the Uk and should not be used at peaceful protest.

With over 2000 occupy protests the world wide.... The world is speaking...

in all seriousness what would be your approach?

i would like to here if you could offer ideas instead of critisizim?
what i mean is how would YOU get support from the silent majority?

because as im sure the memory shock realises getting arrested only makes people want more change.

The Oakland Occupiers are likely the best example of how Occupy was taken over by common thugs and criminals.

Occupy lost most of its support and to pretend otherwise is lying to yourself. People simply do not support anarchists and thugs.

Occupy is drifting into the background and is now just a sad bunch of people who will not give up and continue to demonstrate who they truly are.

The worst are those who hide their faces knowing full well they intend on inciting the Police by committing criminal acts. Nobody with a brain believes they give a damn about anything other than getting attention and perhaps a thrill.

Pretty much everyone supports peaceful protests, but that is not what is and has been happening in Oakland. Why continue lying when the whole country has turned their backs already?

Occupy was and is a total bust. Sad some are so in need of being the center of attention they don't know what is going on around them. Future inmates of America and mostly people who would have ended up that way even if this had never occurred. It's devolved into gangs of roving thugs.

In fact, there is a slight possibility that I was the first person ziptied during the first dramatic police encounter after we passed through Laney College.

Well, go ahead and pat yourself on the back a little more why don't you?

Did you serve your purpose to be the loudest one shouting so you could post it on Facebook?

Occupy does not coincide with LJ01's beliefs and core values.

While you were hanging out partying(leaning on a car), I was working and taking care of the family..........

Did yopu accomplish anything, besides screwing up your record?

What are you loling for, you're just showing your own ignorance.

Communism, and anarchism, are socialist ideologies.

There are three basic major socialist ideologies: Socialism, Anarchism, and Communism. These are all regarded as forms of socialism.

And just because I know what something is, and isn't, doesn't mean I support it. Do you feel you have to misrepresent something because you don't support it? Is that how you justify your beliefs?

Any socialist ideology is better than capitalism. I prefer libertarian socialism, but we can't always get what we want.
