Sorry if this has already been posted, but i did a search and couldn't find any thread featuring this video.

This one features an obnoxious sound akin to a loud boiling tea kettle from hell (which it could be). He certainly did film it correctly with commentary, surroundings and length. This sound is quite atmospheric and seems to genuinely move away.

One thing that makes me think this is legit, is the fact that about 4.50 min in, the guy pans over at a group of people who seem like they are listening to the sound aswell, of course they could just be hanging out, but then i noticed a guy who walks towards the group that turns around and look to the sky right about when the guy who is filming zoom's out.

www.youtube.com...

Can someone please embed it for me, since i can't figure out how to do it myself?

Another interesting twist to this video is that a YT user by the name of omaghman2 has analyzed this video with the software Adobe Auditions. After removing background noise, the video says the sound is made up of five frequencies. Does this mean there are five different sounds happening?

www.youtube.com...

Mcshane who made the first video also posted a video of his theories of what it is. Gotta give him credit for showing his face on camera... And to me he seems truthful, but he could just be a decent actor.

I love these fad-threads! For a while it was elenin, then it was ron paul, now its "strange sounds"

We really must not find ourselves sidetracked with these false things going on, blinding us from the real issues we should be discussing.

Perhaps it's just me, but I could swear I'm hearing tones within tones on that. It's faint and my ears aren't symphony quality at this age, but it sounds complex. Industrial with a bounce kind of echo..or a different variation of the myriad reports from all over the planet.

Is anyone at ATS a sound engineer in the real world with the software and more importantly, the expertise to look at these sounds for the suggestion of more complexity? I just had a weird thought about what foreign.....VERY foreign...communication would sound like if intended across a huge area. Or...maybe not so foreign and meant for an audience with the equipment to make sense of it.

The camera man seemed to think that that other group of people were outside to listen to the noise as well; and it looks like they are to me also.

How completely weird and most welcome at a time that seems a little dry on weirdness. This was a really good one.

Thanks.

X,

okay, obviously some are real, the baseball one, is real obviously

Audio engineer here, what about the sound?> I notice that a few are fake, some even use keyboard synthsizer to mimic "strange sounds" the issue, once you find a couple of good apples the rest are really just bad.

my only issue is either it is a viral campign (which i really doubt). or something else

remember the baseball stadium one is real

I agree some are definitely fake, but many are not, IMO. It's an entirely new direction to think and it probably leads nowhere...but I don't assume it would take an audio specialist long to see either way. If someone or somewhere wanted to communicate and either could not or would not use electronic means of ANY sort, what would it sound like over a large area?

What does early encryption sound like before it became burst and channel hopping? Hums....static...whines and cries. Anything but what it really is, but still recognizable in some respects as being something more than channel static.

So..any possibility some of these could be more than simply noise thrown off by a side effect or unintended consequence of something else? It's something about the sense of multiple sounds within the sounds I've started to get on recent ones..and this one stuck out. Oh well...

Wow! The same noise in all three videos. Fascinating! In one of the comments they say that it could be a marketing video for a sequel to "cloverfield". I hope it is because if this noise is real, then we're in for something big.

Thanks for your help embeding the video

Yeah it has become a fad lately. I'm usually not one to join the bandwagon when these fads occur. I seriously hate all the fear mongering threads talking about end world scenarios, because i simply love my life too much to worry about that.

But these sounds really fascinate me for some reason. Of course it's kind of obvious that the majority being released lately are fakes, and i still have a hard time believing any of the videos with the strange sounds are real, but none the less, i hope they are for some reason.

What are the real issue excatly?

The very first "embed" video sounds legit where the dogs are barking in the background. The other three "metallic noise" imho is probably fake. The first video, the person just walks up opens the window and only then the sound is heard. The sound also does no reflect the reflective environment of such a closed brick area. there would of been more reverb sound.

There is suggestion of it being a viral campign, but i dont know why these virals are always done in nice weather. Mass effect is a violent dark game. also mass effect 3 is the game they are pushing, the sound of the "reaper" has been done before. and as such is not a fresh idea. So i'm 50/50 about it

My intuition said the same thing. Several months ago when the first videos started to surface, the recordings sounding more like a dull crashing sound, almost like things grinding in the sky. I thought I witnessed this once, but who knows since I live in a big city. All the recent videos sound way too crisp and clean, they all sound identical to the instrument shown in the other threads. sucks there is now a need to sift through lies so people can get 'likes' on youtube.

I'm not really buying the viral campaign theory.

It could be true, but if it was the case, then it must be the world's longest viral campaign, since these sounds started in 2009!

You are hearing multiple tones. It showed the audio on a spectrum analyzer and there were 4 or 5 distinct bands (or tones). Most sounds will carry 1 main tone and several overtones while this sound seemed to be a combination of several main tones, if you see the difference.
What needs to be done is to isolate each of these frequency bands and see what each of these basic tones sounds like alone.
Any good audio engineer should be able to break down these sounds with a few hours work.

I thought it was authentic due to the way the microphone picks up his voice while the sound is going. It sounds different than it would if there were no loud background noise. This leads me to believe that the loud sound was actually occurring. It would be extremely hard to fake how condenser mics pick up ambient sounds and make it sound realistic..

omg i got it. its an overlay of an errie recordong, sometimes broadcast on loudspeaker, in a car or overlayed digitaly then uploaded to youtube.

my first clue was 40 sec into vid 1 i heard a (click) i believe its a keyboard, now the guy is in his room with a computer so da it could have been him. but it was in vid 2 at around 24 sec i heard the same click as in vid 1, seperate vids and parts of the world, but he is outside and walking so why the same click as vid 1, and notice the sound wave before and after the click its the same pattern (high, low, click, high)

vid 1

vid 2

now im kinda interested as to put all the vids togeather and run some digital breakdown of the noises try to seperate each sound.
i have only seen about 10 videos so i will come back with anything i find in a new thread.

ok any possible arguments about my thoery
1 the noise got louder when he opened the window in vid 1
a simple overlay would alow for volume control, the fact that he looked out the window and made it louder made the vid seem even more believable.
2 he was walking around outside in vid 2 so the noises had to have come from the sky.
ok at the time of the click it was lower than the first but it also had an echo meaning he was cleaver but not good mixing tracks, echos dont appear from clicks outside, only recording over something with different background noise and mixing ones that dont belong.
3 there was a second click in vid 1
the second click was him coming in from the _
4 i believe it i dont care what you say its a sign from god,
hey reason never was gods favorite subject, just dont belive me,move on

Actually that's two sounds...

1. The Euro slamming through the concrete of the basement floor
2. The solids hitting the air conditioning.

I thought something like this the other day, wife was driven and I got to thinking what if there was different layers all embedded within the signal? and if so what information would we find out?.
