I agree the media is complicit, but it's not totally to blame.

Most of the 'news' we get about government, and foreign affairs, is not created by the MSM. The government, military etc., pretty much write their own press. The MSM just repeat what they are given. That is why on slow news days we get crap stories, because that is all journalists can do.

The days of real investigative journalism has long gone, if there really was any to begin with. Information is very carefully controlled. The state only let's us see what they want us to, sometimes there's a slip but they go mostly unnoticed.

On top of that the MSM is a for profit institution. It's not about to threaten it's own existence, by revealing anything that could threaten the system that feeds them. The owners of media are capitalists, and will obvioulsy be negative to anything other than that. So by it's very nature it is state controlled media, it's a part of the state as much as government, schools, churches etc. You don't have to physically control an institution to coerce it to do your bidding. It's not guns and people that control anymore, it's the economic system itself that controls.

Those few who were lucky enough to be born into property, 'nobility', created themselves a self perpetuating economic/political system, designed to keep themselves living in luxury, by taking away the 'commoners' right to use land to live and grow crops on. This coerced the 'commoners' into 'jobs', that created more wealth and power for the land owners. A change in the law that allowed land owners to sell parcels of land ended what was known as 'feudalism', and ushered in 'capitalism'. The industrial revolution was a result of this. This system was first called 'capitalism' in the 1700's, but the word wasn't really defined until 1839 when French socialist Louis Blanc used the term to mean, 'the appropriation of capital by some to the exclusion of others'. Marx defined the the term to mean, 'the private ownership of the means of production', which has become the standard definition. Both mean the same thing.

The very system of capitalism itself is the main form of control. Most of us are controlled by it, most of you are completely unaware of that fact. Because the system is ingrained in your life from birth, it is almost personal. Those land owners were some clever fellows.

For those who still have cable, my favourite channel was Link TV - this had news like Al Jazeera, Deutsche Welle Journale and Russian Times as well as others. It's the only channel i used to watch before I cut the cord completely. Some insightful and thought provoking documentaries from rarely seen viewpoints - well worth a watch, I wouldn't waste my time on any American MSM

I really, really hate to say this but all of this is old hat.

Old Hat?
Tell that to Ron Paul whose getting screwed by them right now.

There is only one way to stop this and that is strict regulations (Laws) to prevent monopolies or underhanded conglomerates from running the media. You are on to a loser in the USA as you all believe in market forces.

So we should look to the crooked government (most of whom get helped out by these companies) to regulate them? That’s like asking the companies to regulate themselves.
The people have the power to stop businesses in a free market by not buying their goods and services (or in this case - by tuning out of the MSM). First, the people must know that this is going on....which many don't.

The big 6 that I mentioned in the OP are just the biggest media outlets. They are obviously not the only media sources out there. It’s just easier for them to get their message out because of their resources, that’s all. The truth is hard to find because they muddy the water.

And there is nothing greater than the free market system. There are corrupt people in all walks of life. Some just happen to be more influential than others. That doesn’t mean the system is bad. Usually the people complaining about the free market are people who can't survive in the free market and need some form of government to provide for them.

By spreading the word and the idea that in this day in (information) age, we do not need them, their agenda-driven news reporting nor their opinions any longer... And largely, this is true so long as we have uncensored internet. The problem though, is that we have so many people glued to the TVs still watching people like Bill O'Reilly tell them what's what on a daily basis like his message is worth two cents.

Good post and great question. If only groups like Anonymous could hack into the major networks, that would be an epic start to a much needed movement.

To overcome this programming, first off you need to realise we do not live in a 'free-market'. Capitalism is not 'free-market', it is 'the private ownership of the means of production'. It is only a free-market for capitalists, for the rest of us it is a controlled market.

Secondly get a good understanding of the history of economic and political systems. Learn where the terms 'capitalism', 'socialism' etc., comes from, and their true meanings. If you rely on the common misunderstandings you've been taught you will never understand, even though you will think you do.

Capitalism is the biggest conspiracy there is, it's the great deception.

What all do you consider MSM? TV only or newspapers and magazines? The original "news" has to start somewhere. When we quote sites, where did those sites get their info? I agree that MSM is partisan and biased, they also can't keep up with the explosion of information getting out on the net. BUT, we do need them to somewhat be our eyes and ears for many newsworthy issues. Lets face it, even ATS super moderators won't get invited to white house briefings and press conferences.

We live at a moment in time where anyone can be an eyewitness, anyone can document an event, and anyone can share that information with anyone else.

This is the real reason why print is dead, and news networks are shifting over to an editorial platform.

The sole reason the news conglomerates have yet to feel the natural result of their obsolescence is the generation gap: do you think the kids are getting their news off the TV? No. And that's the dialysis machine keeping the MSM above ground: opinion pieces that cater to a dying generation.

Hell, I'll give you a star and flag just for the title.

The television has turned into a psychopath, and what do we do with psychopaths, we get as far away from them as possible.

The Idiot Box is nothing more than spiteful distraction in my house (unless there's bad weather coming my way that is)...a tool to be used as a hand to pull us conspiracy nuts back into the boat of functionality and practical responsibility (paying bills n junk). The problem with T.V. is that people take it seriously (on any level). It is entertainment first and foremost. By the way, there ARE no news agencies left - 'cept maybe RT. It's difficult to imagine ANYTHING objective coming from that bright mesmerizing screen anymore, and as long as you go into it aware of this fact, you'll be ok...as long as you can look away during commercials and disregard any obvious indoctrinations, Neural Linguistic Programming, or value adjustment attempts.

Knowledge is power people, and the knowledge of how they work eventually becomes self-evident to anyone aware of anything more than their own skulls.

Again, there are no news agencies anymore, there is only your own research. And the internet is (so far) the lost book of knowledge our ancestors told us about. Just remember to grasp that hand (the TV, family, friends, outdoor activity, indoor activity, lol) when you need to step back from the truth and reflect for awhile. Nothing to be ashamed of or worried about.

*DING DING DING*

You are correct! Information is the KEY to everything. I'm putting together a post on Ritual Abuse and throughout I am wondering, "How has no one pieced this together?" This is due to a "vacuum of information". If one finds themselves unable to connect one piece to the other, it is because they have not been provided with the information and resources from a self-proclaiming "fair and balanced" source (MSM). As all nearly all information is corrupted by opinion, bias, mistranslation, etc, simply view all information as information. Words like "truth" don't mean much as it's only a firmly-held perspective. Concerning the knowledge accumulated throughout your life, what is the percentage of knowledge was taught by others compared to knowledge and understanding you gained on your own?

Nonetheless, we also have to factor in a percentage of willful ignorance.

We BELIEVE a lot, but we KNOW little.

Conan O'Brien exposed just how controlled the MSM with this famous little clip here....

www.youtube.com...

That being said, most people trust the good ol T.V. set. Its probably been the most stable thing thats been there for them since childhood. If I tell people I read my news off the internet I usually get a response like "Well anybody can put anything on the internet, does'nt mean its true." As if that box they are watching can never lie to them.

The level of ignorance makes me sad for my fellow countrymen really.

You are so right. The average working man or woman is so busy trying to feed and clothe themselves and their children, that they don't have time to investigate what's 'reported'. My generation grew up on Cronkite, but the youth of today are hopefully getting their news from sources other than mainstream. If you are so blind as to not see the hatchet job being done on Ron Paul, then there is probably no hope for you. But, the young people are wising up to the bull***t being force fed to the American people. O'reilly is bought and paid for, yet millions believe every word he says. I fear that we will never have a world where a Woodward and Bernstein can exist, again.

Can't watch the vid it's blocked for copyright reasons.

Yes the media is a tool of the state, and the state/government is a tool of the capitalists.

Those who own the means of production, have the power and influence to control everything. People have to realise government doesn't control, capitalists do. Most politicians in top politicians are capitalists, that is how they earned the money, and have the time, to get the power they do, and they do it to influence policy to their benefit.

Yes the viewing public is complicit in it's passive acceptance. But you do realise how hard it is for the average Joe to wake up to this when they have a family and bills to worry about. This system was set up in order to passivise people, and keep them from revolting even if they know the truth. Otherwise this happens...

did you try the direct link?
or try googling "Conspiracy Rock"

the video is claiming to be part of [but most probably a sort of spoof on] the schoolroom rock series of the 70's which were for edutational purpose
for example,

i cant recite the preamble of the constitution easily, but i can sing it.
any ways shows how the entire media is a tentacle of an octopus of mega-corps like westinghouse, fox, ge, disney, etc and some techniques used to fool the people

..."a footnote protects you from folks who doubt what you say"...

"but the bigshots don't care,
they're all sitting pretty,
thanks to corporate welfare..."

you contribute to this chain every-time
you buy a product
sponsored on this show...
that's what NBC doesn't want you to knooowww...
so the next time,...

BRRREEEEEEEEPPPP!!!!!

PLEASE STAND BY
PLEASE STAND BY
EXPERIENCING TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES...

that sort of video if you can't find it
on a related note when i uploaded it to my youtube in less than 5 minutes after i posted it here GE was claiming a copyright infringement, interesting that the video is highly critical of GE and it's nuclear experiments and GE wound up owning it

If any of you are interested in learning more about how the MSM operates, this is a must read:

www.themissingtimes.com...

This book does a great job at showing how the MSM is completely beholden to the CIA, FBI and now DHS. Some of the most celebrated journalists of previous eras were under contract through the CIA, and newsrooms often times prided themselves on how many CIA assignments they handled at any given time.

The notion of a free press has long been dead here in the US, and this book proves that masterfully. Journalist integrity does not exist. MSM editors ALL have federal security advisors who dictate what can and cannot be printed.
