ATS has a new media upload section:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Click there, or find it by going to;
TOOLS+ > ATS uploads

I think the old media section has been disabled for uploading new pictures.

I'm glad you asked about it, because I was wondering how things worked, too. Nice to know that those features are available- opens up new frontiers for me!

From what I understand access is now gone.

Here is a post from SO about it:

"In about two months, general access to your albums in the media.abovetopsecret.com website will be shut off. The core software we purchased to run the "media portal" has reached a "difficult to maintain" point, which is why we've launched this new custom-built service."

It's not like there wasn't fair warning.

We perhaps keep access open too long.

That can be seen in this thread.

So all our media is just gone?

All our pics and videos and we can't get them back?

That's a bit harsh huh?

I think the only way to get them back would be to go back through our posts, find where we posted them and then save them again since they've not been completely removed or anything.

Sucks I know but I don't think there's any other way to access them all again.

I have all my avatars in there... I'm not fussed about nature pics or videos etc.... more all my resized avatars.

They haven't been deleted I'm sure... so there must be a way to get them back.

Grrrrr

I do think it would have been nice to have gotten one final warning before it was shutdown. But I think the, err, "incident" a couple of weeks ago forced the issue.

I know... I agree.

Why couldn't they have just moved the pictures into the new section in tools though?

That would be a SO question.

If I had to guess though, I would say that would be one heck of a database migration. Besides the massive amount of data, I wouldn't be surprised if the two systems wouldn't play nice for a merge. I can just imagine the 1,000 page error report now. But that is just my guess based on handeling database migrations in the past.
