Well, let's see.. every president for the past 50 years has signed a NDAA. He signed one last year, too. I don't think there's ever been a year
that it WASN'T signed.
This particular one that Obama signed is HR 6523
, introduced in 2009, and its
initial sponsor is Republican Ike Skelton of Missouri
If you'll remember, the Republicans have

It's not like he woke up one morning and said, "hey, I think I'll make a bill" and just signed it into law.
The "indefinite detention" section seems to have come from the Republicans, with
