I just loooooooooove the PROPAGANDA...during the "travel season". Of course, they want you to stay home and not go anywhere. TPTB can't have you enjoying REAL freedom. It's funny, about 6 years ago....Mexico was the "hot-spot"...now, it's: "Unsafe"? hahahahah Yeah, it's "unsafe", because the U.S. is BROKE and they need every penny spent, at home; and not abroad.

You want to talk "unsafe"...how about: Irvington, NJ...Compton, CA...Detroit, MI....Harlem, NY...do i need to continue?

Are you people 'afraid' to live life....or what? If you're gonna die, in a shoot-out in Mexico, that's how it was MEANT to be. If you're gonna die, while plugging in the toaster; that's how it was MEANT to be. However it is, you're going to die, there is NOTHING you can do to change that DETERMINED DATE and CAUSE OF DEATH!!!

totally agree.
i visited creel and copper canyon about 8-9 months ago.
was warned how unsafe it was, yada yada.
had a freakin blast.
not a single problem, yet there was one tourist that i heard was robbed.
probably some guy in bermuda shorts wearing a gold chain and flashing a wad of cash everywhere he went.
so.....just cause of that one guy lets tell everyone not to visit.
the tarahumara are wonderful people.the major problem they have is the growing of marijuana in the sierra madre.
most of that actually has nothing to do with the cartels, it's california growers who took their seeds south cause humbolt is to hot.
hope i can mention that.

I suppose everyone else has a better perspective on life in Mexico than myself, what can I say? I just live here. I cannot think of one reason why I would ever want to go back to the US, after spending most of my life there.

I do not live in a resort city of Mexico, rather in the central highlands in the capital city of the state of Michoacán, the city of Morelia. I am told by the US media this is a hotspot of cartel danger but I have Mexican friends throughout most parts of the entire state and have no problem travelling to those places. I only hear about that stuff in the news.

Just after taking office a few years ago Mexican President Felipe Calderón ramped-up the War on Drugs and things have gotten dangerous and violent in places. Yes, the drug war here has the same effect it does in the US, our governments use it to scare the people and make them feel insecure and wanting police protection (moreso in the US than here, BTW). It makes the people glad to give up whaterver freedoms and privacies they had left so they can protect DuPont, Kimberly-Clarke paper mills, and Big Pharma from the competition of a hemp industry. So those fat cats and greedy bastards can gorge themselves it makes me glad to see street violence (more in the US than here in Mexico, BTW) and people living scared and insecure to carry-out that agenda. [/sarcasm]

Good on it all, there must not have been any murders in Detroit, Los Angeles, or Atlanta in the past few days for this to make headlines - or it is just worse that such things can happen in foreign countries. I am president of our local English-speaking expats club (carrying on an over 30-year continuation of our club) and know a good many Americans, Canadians, and others living here and around nearby Pátzcuaro Lake who, like myself, would never consider giving up our lives here to return to the US right now there are our many snowbirds that live here in Mexico several months out of the year and find no problem with coming here each winter. I also know plenty of gringos who I would rather not see here in Mexico and am sure we would all be happy they just stay north, please.

It is no surprise to read a number of knee-jerk responses to the media stories, after all they are just reacting the way the media wishes them to do. There are much greater agendas beyond the propoganda. Yes, Mexico has oil and natural resources that we are just wasting on... Mexicans. The US has every desire to invade, bring us ;law and order American-style, and put these resources to other use. I am also delighted to see many here in this thread that have some actual idea what is really going on - if only some of that can rub off onto those who don't have a clue.

Those of us here don't want to see the US come here for a goodwill crusade. And for those up north that are worried about drugs and violence spilling-over the border, as if you don't have plenty of drugs and violence up there already, quit buying the damned drugs! Having the US next door is like having an alcoholic neighbor that keeps coming over and begging for beers because his wife won't let him drink at home. Sheeesh, fix your own problems first. And please take your CIA drug war advisors back home, they're trying to get us to run the drug business like a McDonald's. It was a lot nicer here when a few hippie gringos would just come down for a brick of whacky weed, and now you want all kinds of things added to the menu. Then you complain you're getting fat from it!

I don't recall any groups with machine guns and hand grenades shooting up buses or bombing casino's in any of the American cities you cited.

I don't recall 20-50 headless bodies found in any of those cities either.

sorry, but i can't help but comment on some of this.

Mexico isn't worth the trip to the bus station to buy a ticket to even go there. If youre an american and you go there, youre on your own, literally you will be beyond help. Mexico is truly a Godless country if there's ever been one.

it's obvious that you've never been.
first off, here in the southwest those coming north has actually dropped quite a bit. the economy sucks and they no there are not many jobs available.
the drag is that now most coming north are the criminal element, not workers.
also, you mention guarding our continent, that would include both mexico and canada.
the only thing i do agree with is that if you visit you are on your own.
this is why i've replied a few times already regarding the differences between the north and south.

I drove a truck for 4 years and that included Canada and Mexico so don't go telling me i have never been there. Try having some mexicans open up the back of your trailer when you come to a stop and start throwing your load out on the street where they have people in pick ups waiting to load what they throw out. They were literally looting my truck as i was driving down the road.

I would pay for your plane ticket(s) to go tell that to the families of the 500+ civilians found in mass graves that the Zetas left. Tortured and then executed for various things, mostly just to send a message.

Evacuate all civilians and turn the place into a glass parking lot.

Very interesting. Chemical sterilization by Big Pharma Globalists?

that and the obvious profit pocketed.

Of course, why not make beaucoup bucks while disabling people?

Merck, which makes Gardasil (the HPV vaccine), was lobbying the US to make it mandatory for females to have the vaccine. Thank God they haven't succeeded yet. The vaccine has been associated with an array of negative side effects, including blindness, memory loss, paralysis, etc. As many as 26 deaths may be linked to Gardasil.

I'm convinced Big Pharma is attempting to chemically sterilize women & girls thru a new generation of dangerous oral contraceptives & unnecessary vaccines.

Mexico is largely Catholic and (from the standpoint of the Globalists) a perfect target for these drugs.

I have lived full time in mexico from 2004 - 2010 and now part time mexico canada. I live in the yucatan and although we have some random violence that takes place, I feel more safe here than when I visit parts of the US. There is violence everywhere and as a traveller, you just have to be cultured and know how to treat others. The gringos that go and treat mexicans as hired help is offensive. The travellers who show up looking to buy drugs to party and put themselves in danger is their own fault. I know more educated and wealthy mexicans that have travelled the world and have way more class than other countries! I will not change my living arrangements based on some news of msm.

I'm wondering how much longer you will be able to enjoy your Mexican paradise. I really believe the Globalists have been laying the groundwork for decades now, the groundwork for the North American Union (NAU). It's a real plan. One good thing Assange did was make public a classified Canadian Embassy message which spelled out how they were to sell the idea of an NAU to the Canadian people.

It's probably the real underlying reason the US has not secured the Mexican border. And I have a hunch ramping up the drug violence in Mexico is part of the plan. Mexico has resources the Globalists would love to carve up.
I believe the 2008 Crash was created on purpose. The only way the Americans would accept a new currency is to collapse the value of the US Dollar. The only way the Americans would accept the NAU is if they saw it as the only way to fix the economy.

LIVE YOUR LIFE PEOPLE........YOU ONLY GET 1 CHANCE! Stop listening to the "news reports"! They're only trying to RULE BY FEAR!

Shame people can't actually take the news for what it is.

Son, when you go to another country - you aren't in Kansas, anymore. The rights you have been raised to believe you have go out the window. You are the foreigner. If the police get involved in whatever issue you're having - it's your ass, 90% of the time (this is true in just about any country you go to - you are the foreigner, you are the problem). If you get arrested - you exist at the mercy and convenience of their legal system (or lack thereof). Your embassy will try to negotiate your release - but that's only if they know you are in the country, and where you're being held.

The local population is going to have a wide range of reactions - from "Look, a walking paycheck!" to "Hey, a domestic English speaking person to practice on!" to "PIG!" In most areas, the worst you have to worry about is paying 600% more than the average local for an item (tip - when asking prices, always write the number down and show it to them - this avoids translation errors, which can be common when you and/or the other person are using unfamiliar languages).

If you go around and hit on their women - expect to get scowls, particularly in cultures that feel they have been 'trifled with' in the past (Korea has always been between China and Japan, and their disputes; for example). If someone says something and she starts crying - don't "be the knight in shining armor" and raise issue with the guy. You may win - you may not. Either way - if the police get involved, see above.

In more lawless areas, you can expect to be seen as a walking bill-fold.... or political statement, depending upon the goals of the 'lawless.' In other words - you are not a human in their eyes, do not expect to be treated as such.

It's not about fear. It's about being aware of what kinds of dangers exist out there - and there are plenty outside of our sheltered little lives in the States. We have largely done away with active supremacist cults. While they still have their meetings and wave their flags - their active efforts to assert their superiority (hanging people from water towers and such) have declined, considerably. We don't have drug lords that actually butt heads with the military, using their own private armies.

We have some smaller versions of the same concept... but nothing on the scale many of our southern neighbors have.

LIVE.........YOUR............LIFE........WITHOUT.........FEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Your interpretation of that philosophy is going to lead to a rather short life, there, kiddo.

What you have to do, is grow up.

The reality is that this stuff scares the piss out of you, and you are unable to process it as actual information because of it. Your response is to deny it as a valid point of concern.

To live your life without fear is not to go and do whatever you want without concern or worry. It is to look at the reality of what you are about to do and to prepare as best you can to deal with that reality.

To live without fear is not to live without analytical capabilities. It is to take action in the face of uncertainty - to not allow apprehension to rule over your behavior.

ok, i owe you an apology.
your statement just seemed like such a generalization that concerned the entire country.
like you were basically saying the average mexican joe [jose] was a violent cartel member.
i've had some skrewy experiences, for sure.
one included a break down in a bad part of mexico city. a local family towed me and put me up at their casa just to keep me safe.
i have no doubt i would have lost everything if not for them.
i'm glad you responded, i just have a problem with generalizations.
unlike america, most mexicans have a deep scence of familia, which extends to others outside the family also.
its also comments like 'mexico is a godless country' that bother me a bit.
it's a relatively small percentage that make problems in mexico so horrible for so many.
generally speaking the average mexican is a hard working, honest person who just wants to be left alone and support their families.

I think you may be correct. I have no doubts that devious plans have been in the works for a time now and my paradisical life here may be due to change soon. A couple things though, if the plans are to schmooze it all away from the Mexicans as easily as the Americans gave up their liberties I believe Mexico is going to need a couple more decades of conditioning first. Life has not been easy for most people here, happy and festive but not filled with toys and games as up north. A growing middle class has finally arrived here but that hasn't been so for all that much time yet. This has not been a consumer society for a long enough time yet.

Mexican people have not always had many "things" but have always treasured their independence and freedom. They have never had a great respect for authority or law and order so they may be a bit tougher to tame. They might need to have these things for a generation or more to become accustomed to having them before the threat of losing them amounts to an actual threat. It is just not a huge setback to be thrown back into how life was just the week before last. Americans are more accustomed to being herded and will go along more willingly as they feel they have much to lose. Give Mexico a new oppressive government and it probably won't be any worse than another in their recent memory, and they'll be just as glad to ignore the new one too. They're just not the kind of society that calls the police any time a neighbor is noisy or leaves his trash out for too long. This is no nanny society here, no one here expects the government to solve their problems.

Intrepid, your not living up to your name. if you want to see Mexico, get on a plane and go. Of course it has its dangers, but Mexico city for example is no more dangerous that Washington DC. (Fact from the UN).

The point that every one needs to know is how to travel intelligently. Of course unless you have reason you don't go on holiday to Juarez, But Mexico is soo much more than just the northern states.

When you travel, keep a low profile, don't the the quintessential american, Use common sense, and I believe you will greatly enjoy the experience.

Fact from the UN?? Really, and you believe the UN? Mexico is unsafe for Americans as well as Mexicans! You must be employed by either the Mexican government, or the United States government?

I really don't know the answer for Mexico as I have nit even been there let alone am able to comment on their social and political issues with absolute confidence, but from what I have heard sacking the entire police force and starting over may well be the way to go in this area. With such rife corruption they need to tackle it somehow, some way.

I was reading about a Mexican-american family from New Mexico whos two daughters were abducted while they were over the boarder. The father has relentlessly searched for them and the only answers he has got is that they were taken by a police officer as gifts for local drug lords. He found their car in a used car salesmans lot who wouldn't talk to him, but he managed to find a lot of info out.

This is just one story which if true shows how brazen and corrupt the police can be over there. Now they do this to two American girls who are probably worth a lot in ransom, yet they are taken not for money as I believe no ransom has been issued.

What they do to their enemies is much much worse, the punishment 'soup' where they burn a person in a metal drum filled with slow burning diesel shows how brutal and inhumane these gangs are. Police corruption is not only an issue due to greed, but probably also fear as well. In the past even high judges have been massacred whilst debating laws to capture the drug baron who simply sent a hit squad to murder them. No judges no law passed! Crazy!

For the sake of the Mexican people I hope they get a hold on this and without turning it in to a brutal regime/

I think saying the entire country of Mexico is unsafe is just false. I'm an American (white as can be) that lived in Mexico for almost 4 years until recently.. in a city of well over 1 million people. I felt safer there than I felt living in our nation's capital growing up. Sure, there are some dangerous spots in Mexico.. but no more dangerous than South East DC. This of course.. is only my experience.

Thanks, Erongaricuaro, for a thoughtful response. I have a gut feeling the world is on the brink of catastrophic changes. TPTB have been ratcheting up the 2012 hysteria for their own purposes, getting the public ready for a post-apocalyptic world.

Have you read "The Rise of the Fourth Reich" by Jim Marrs? It explains a lot. If it's accurate (as I suspect) the Elites who really rule the world secretly support the Nazi ideal -- this is disasterous for all of us, but especially for non-Whites. Between their de-population agenda and racism, intentional genocide of non-Whites is a given.

How will it be done? Wars, artificially created famines, artificially created plagues, Big Pharma drugs that are designed to debilitate, poisoned water, poisoned food, they have ways we probably haven't thought of.
Where does one hide?

The Mexicans may be fiercely independent and hardy survivors, but they will not have a chance against the forces the Elites can unleash on them. And neither will we.

Northern Mexico is not safe. The cartels rule there.

But Southern Mexico is quite nice. The cartels have not attacked the ``tourists spots`` yet... when they do, Mexico's economy is done.

There has already been drug cartel violence in Cancun, Acapulco, etc ... just not directly directed against tourists. But like you said, it's only a matter of time.

The then police chief of Cancun, Mauro Tello, was murdered in February 2009. The deputy chief of police in Playa del Carmen was shot and killed by gunmen in 2008.

We have a condo there and stopped going 3 years ago.

I don't like the tourist areas, I can sit on a beach and drink Corona at thousands of places inside the U.S., so why do it while in another country. I eat where the locals eat, drink where they drink, etc...

This is how I travel everywhere, and why Mexico is off my list for now.
