The situation I was in
(non government related situation for clarification)

The dude with the gun herded 10 of us around like we were cattle...

Strung out meth head trying to rob a gas station,
walks up to the counter and pulls a gun
I just happened to be the dude behind him,
he kept us i guess you can say hostage for about 10 minutes while he tried to rob us of money, jewelry etc
The idiot manager then decided to come out of his office with a gun...
and I got to conveniently act as his human Kevlar vest until he made it out the back door...

I count my lucky stars I was left standing there frightened beyond words... in one piece and unholy

I'm just curious how you guys take what the original OP said and turn it into like... some kind of extreme.

The OP said the word Obama on the phone and then the line went dead. I told him it was coincidence (because that's the only assumption I can make) and then I told a humorous anecdote about how my 500 pound boyfriend was even paranoid of being taken away, even though he never does anything or says anything to be a threat to anyone, never mind the government.
The joke was that he entertained the idea that he'd be kidnapped. But at 500 pounds, they'd need a bunch of guys to forcibly remove him. Or, as the other guy said, they'd need to put a gun to his head to move him anywhere, except he said they'd put a gun to MY head... which is just... disturbing that he'd go to that. (I didn't mention my boyfriend's weight initially because I figured using the word "big" covered my bases while being polite enough).

Then you guys interpret that to mean that I'm some kind of blissfully ignorant child who feels invincible like nothing can harm me. I mean what on earth?!


I was moreso trying to add levity with the whole overused joke of, "fat people are harder to kidnap."

Well the dude used me as a shield to get to the back door, then left me there freaked out while he ran off...

Police looked for him... some...

2 months later he tried robbing this old man that had cancer for his prescriptions...
The old man drawed a social security check... so he knew when the old man would get his pills...

So he tried robbing the old man... turns out the old man wasn't as easy to scare as me...

The meth head took a gut shot and died on the old mans front porch...

The old man is still living and thats been 5 years

Well there you go- open mouth, insert foot. Sorry for all the bad vibes spinning off out there. I'm just gonna have to deal with my naturally survivalist mentality and go with the flow, but I think a lot of other folks may be feeling antsy, too. This political strangeness, the economy and the holiday season, are all pretty heavy. I'm gonna look out for my family and anyone else that needs it, but other than that, no more assumptions! Namaste!
