The Russian convoy, consisting of 25 trucks with humanitarian aid, including power-generators, blankets, food supplies, furniture and other necessities, had been heading for Mitrovica, the largest city in Kosovo’s Serb-dominated north. Two trucks were able to enter Kosovo through the Jarinje border checkpoint, but the rest were not allowed through by the EULEX police in charge of the post.
EULEX said it wanted to escort the convoy on its way to Mitrovica, but Russia said the region was safe and
RUSSIAN CONVOY, stil did not pass Jarinje. We remain on the barricades in the bufferzone and no truck has passed yet, but it is possible that three trucks were let through out of 27 that arrived yesterday to the passage where they are blocked, the rest returned to central Serbia. Now.... because there was an initiative for the people to liberate trucks from Jarinje, mister Konuzin told us that it is unnecessary, because forces of Russian Federation, blocked convoy of US military that transports supplies for NATO in Afghanistan, so when they let Russians on Jarinje, Russians will let NATO in Afghanistan too ;-) Who is patient is saved, but russian convoy will arrive on Serbia's Kosovo soon... you'll be the first to know, SNP 1389, on the scene!

The Russians should just push through with the aid convoy and call the EULEX bluff...
..what are they going to do..fire on a humanitarian aid convoy and cause an international incident ?
I would love to see them explain that one at the UN security council.

Isn't the blending of local and international politics beautiful?
This is how they make people think it's the population of one country's fault for starting conflicts and being inhumane to other countries...... meanwhile politicians smile for the camera and tell us how important they are to 'resolving' the problem... go on... wave a flag... that'll do it.
I suspect that our reaction is supposed to be more anxiety and angst..... after all "peace is war."
I refuse to oblige - because I know these "leaders" do whatever they want to do... and this show is part of it.

WHY? Why is NATO here? WHY are we in this area enforcing a social experiment?
Anyone? Someone explain it to me.

NATO’s initial mandate was:[4]
to deter renewed hostility and threats against Kosovo by Yugoslav and Serb forces;
to establish and maintain a secure environment in Kosovo, including public safety and civil order;
to demilitarise the Kosovo Liberation Army;
to support the international humanitarian effort;
to coordinate with and support the international civil presence.
Today, KFOR focuses on building a secure environment in which all citizens, irrespective of their ethnic origins, can live in peace and, with international aid, democracy and civil society are gradually gaining strength. KFOR tasks have included:
assistance with the return or relocation of displaced persons and refugees;
reconstruction and demining;
medical assistance;
security and public order;
security of ethnic minorities;
protection of patrimonial sites;
border security;
interdiction of cross-border weapons smuggling;
implementation of a Kosovo-wide weapons, ammunition and explosives amnesty programme;
weapons destruction;
support for the establishment of civilian institutions, law and order, the judicial and penal system, the electoral process and other aspects of the political, economic and social life of the province.
The Contact Group countries have said publicly that KFOR will remain in Kosovo to provide the security necessary to support the provisions of a final settlement of Kosovo's status.[5]
The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) is the largest civilian mission ever launched under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The central aim is to assist and support the Kosovo authorities in the rule of law area, specifically in the police, judiciary and customs areas. The mission is not in Kosovo to govern or rule. It is a technical mission which will monitor, mentor and advise whilst retaining a number of limited executive powers. EULEX works under the general framework of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 and has a unified chain of command to Brussels

Well, this is the closest Russia got to NATO face to face, one wrong move and a can of worms will be unleashed....
BOTH sides HAVE to be very cautious and choose words carefully....
The Incident at Pristina was a confrontation between the NATO forces and Russian forces over the Pristina International Airport in the aftermath of the Kosovo War. Russian troops occupied the airport ahead of a NATO deployment, resulting in a tense stand-off, which was resolved peacefully.
