Self Evident Obvious and Natural Solution

After years of political debates on AboveTopSecret, after years of working at MSNBC, Fox News and CNN, after years of growing up in the heart of the beast - Washington, DC, all the while grappling with the solution to our problems with governance, it came to me. Like some kind of divine epiphany, while sitting in a park, it just poured in from the aether, a natural solution.

For some reason, over the last couple months, my outlook on our country changed. I went from being absolutely pessimistic, storing food and weapons and believing that some sort of mass riots and Marshall law was inevitable, to becoming absolutely certain to the core of my being that everything was about to become better than it had ever been in the history of our country, more jobs, more abundance, more prosperity than we have ever know.

What I could not explain, what struck me as irrational and illogical was the fact that I had no objective evidence to support my intuitive "Knowing." On the surface, I was still way beind on my mortgage payments, still struggling with the medical bills from my infant son's unknown disease, I was not making enough money at work, my teenagers were still...teenagers. You know what I mean.

I started looking into the source of the power behind what we call "intuition" or "gut sense" or "bull # meter." I found that theologians, philosophers and scientists have been attempting to answer this same question since the dawn of civilization.

Plato believed that the very purpose of life was to recognize, embrace and cultivate this innate, natural and universal power so that each and every man might distill certain Truths or what he called "Forms" and apply them to the individual's life so that he may lead the most productive, abundant, prosperous life in greatest accord with the Natural Laws of the universe.

Plato went on to say in his seminal work, "The Republic," that any leader that did not understand this most basic of all laws, was simply unfit to lead and had no business leading men.

Carl Jung, in his attempt to define Man's (and of course Woman's) innate ability to discern or intuit Truth, as the "Collective Unconscious" which Is a repository for all the information known by all Men and that every human being has the ability to tap this infinite resource. Freud added that it went all the way back. That it was aboriginal and that it was passed down in the genes in every human being.

The founding fathers of quantum physics made the most stunning discovery, IMHO, in modern times. They found that when observing electrons to determine why they spun in either a positive or negative fashion it was not due to some Newtonian, objective force such as temperature or pressure. It was the very mind of the observer himself that determined the spin. If the observer expected the spin to be positive, that indeed was observed!

Those two implications are not only mind boggling saying in effect that not only does each and every one of us have access to infinite knowledge but by our very intent, we may effect changes in our physical world. Take a minute and ponder that.

Although these definitions were not known to the framers of our Declaration of Independence, our Constituion and the Bill of Rights, the concepts and potential was by no means lost on them. They Knew to their core that certain Truths were so plain, so obvious that they were in fact "Self Evident." That any man when presented the facts could come to no other natural conclusion but that we are all created equal. We all have the natural ability to discern Truth and that no man or group of men were inherently better at making decisions effecting the society than other men.

In effect, the only thing and I mean ONLY thing distinguishing one man from the other was his perspective gained through his objective life experience, his education and his trial and error empirical knowledge. Therefore, the most equitable, the most fair and obvious way to govern men, the way that is in greatest agreement with the Natural Laws of the universe would be one that solicited the participation of as many persons and perspectives as reasonably possible.

Given the technology of the day, a logical compromise was to form a representative republic whereby every community of approximately 30,000 men would elect a representative who they felt best able to represent the needs, values and opinions of the community to the federal govt. When these representatives came together, they would naturally decide how to solve our collective problems divide our country's resources in the most just, fair and equitable means possible.

As they crafted these principles into a system of governance and they were placed into effect, the United States of America rocketed past every other country to become the most prosperous, fair and happy country in history. The irony and natural consequence is that as we have veered from these principles, as We The People, have deferred our rightful decision making responsibility to fewer and fewer men and women, the decisions have been made in favor of the fewer and fewer and the resources have thus been concentrated into the hands of the fewer and fewer.

This is not meant to be a call to arms against the banks or companies or individuals who now control those concentrated resources but to highlight the fact that each and very one of us must take responsibility for abdicating our power to some degree by not demanding our opinions be respected and that our voices be heard and that we be given back the right to participate in the decisions effecting our lives.

These demands must be made known to the smallest school boards across the country to the Congress to the President of the United States.

Here is the part that has made me so happy and so positive about our future. The President must immediately convene a meeting between the brightest men responsible for the most successful Internet companies, companies like Google and Facebook and Amazon and absolutely AboveTopSecret.com so they, in conjunction with Congress may fashion a new means of allowing every American citizen the right and responsibility to participate in a MEANINGFUL way.

Don't become disheartened when there is resistance to this proposal. The men and women who have accumulated the power will not give it over easily. They have become it is their birthright just as the royals had in England. Take consulation that this is natural. This is what is most efficient and this is what is agreement with the Natural laws governing the universe and that it must be so.

Please take a look at the short video I shot yesterday. It's not perfect nor my spelling but it gets the idea across and it highlights just how easy it is to communicate given the technology available today. I shot and posted it directly from my phone just as I write this essay today. God bless you.

Wait just a second, what's your source? Feel free to link to a paper by "fathers" or some other reliable source. Please.

Why not 10k? Not 100k?

How do you know that Facebook has your best interest at heart? It's just a business, and shareholder value is its ultimate law. Amazon is a veritable empire which excels at selling stuff. Or are you willing to let the big business interests to control the electoral process from get go?

We already have the elections. We already have means of information and dis-information. You can tweet your vote or click on the Amazon page, that's just a technicality which doesn't change the fundamental decline of critical thinking in this country. Sheesh, just look at the ATS.

A great thread, and you are absolutly right!

But the question is why we have done this? I ask myself that all the time. It seems as though no one really cares anymore about the "Big Picture" of Family, Country, Community. We are more self involved, and if it doesnt really affect us why would we care?

Since I started thinking about this, my wife and have noticed many people pointing very close to this solution. I have not yet heard anybody put it quite the way I did. Thing is when an idea is ripe, many people will come to it independently at the same time.

Article 1 Section 2 of the Constitution states that no congressional District shall have more than 1 congressman for each 30,000 citizens. Until 1910, when a district exceeded 60,000 citizens they created a new district and added a congressman.

Today the average district is 700,000 citizens. With the practicality and expectation of getting to "know" 700,000 congress has turned it's attention to those willing to pay for access.
Why not 10k? Not 100k?

I have no idea of Facebook is the best option nor do I have to. That's just the point and just the problem. It's less likely any ONE person will have the best answer.

I mentioned Facebook because the format is widely accepted and proven to be very easy to stay in touch with large groups of people with little effort.

I mentioned Amazon with no regard to their profit making ability orifice but instead their track record of treating very sensitive information very well.

I used ATS due to the ease of posting user generated content and the excellent system of stars and flags to rate importance of issues and credibility of opinions.

Viewer voting shows are the most popular format on television. Imagine the president or mayor going on television presenting a problem and possible solutions and offering meaningful participation to the citizens?

Sweden was just named the happiest country on earth. It's no surprise that they have the highest degree of citizen participation in the world

I think you are looking a the problem from the wrong end. Sweden is "socialist" in many people's views, and sometimes in radical ways. I posit that is the key for Scandinavian happiness, not some technicality of how representative democracy is formed.
