It was quite amazing to see how people chanted Hare Krishna at the recent COP17 UN climate conference in Durban.

So, to open the thread I would like to post some good versions of the Maha-Mantra from South Africa.

I suppose the term "East" is debatable, and perhaps I mean Buddhist and Hindu devotional songs.
However the terminology is open to debate, and it also includes the rich Christian and Islamic musical traditions, and the many talented African drummers and musicians who are playing this music today.

Hare Krishna mantra metal!

Mmm ... OK a few fans ... but to me the traditional instruments are best.

I've seen Africans and Indians shredding it out on those drums, and I'm still undecided on who the kings of rhythm are.

How many beats can you fill in a minute, while the people are still chanting and celebrating?
And lets face it, the Indians and the West Africans are the ultimate champions of speed drumming.

Well, here's a Middle Eastarn song.

I'm not sure who all the people in the video are, but it's not meant to be a political posting, but a song of devotion that is also subtitled in English and German.
