I have seen some people mention it has to do with account names that have non-alphanumeric characters in them. I think there's a thread in BB&Q already (or it has been moved).

Its the way the new chat system works unfortunately. I have other friends/members with the same problem. There have been several requests to have this changed/fixed to no avail thus far. If it is the coding or what that makes is difficult to fix I do not know.
