Context is everything though. A Russian source is obviously anti NATO in every respect.

My question still stands, why is NATO responsible for a post war plan? NATO did not invade, it merely provided the support it was asked to provide.

I know this action in Libya has been anathema to most ATS'ers, a position i respect. Most of us abhor violence and war but occasionally it is justified - ie going after Kony and the LRA and going after Gaddhafi. Personally, i thing Al Bashar is also fair game but that is another story.

Most of the anti Liberator stuff coming into the press is from sources with just as much of an agenda as those that are pro Liberators - as an intelligent individual i know you will have accepted this for yourself.

So i repeat, go to Libya or talk online to Libyans - see what the mood is. Gaddhafi was a tyrant plain and simple. I worked with people in Libya who had brothers, cousins, uncles, etc literally disappear overnight. Our main contact over there is actually from the other side and was a Brigadier inthe Libyan army under Gaddhafi - his family prospered under Gaddhafi and i have to say they are all delighted he is gone as it allows Libya an opportunity to grow instead of being a personnel fiefdom.

I genuinely like your posts and threads and do not wish to 'fall out' over this issue. I simply respectfully say i see this from a totally different viewpoint based on observations and experiences gleaned in situ.

The future is far from certain for Libya. I am, however, far more hopeful than i have been at any time in the previous 10 years.

I answered your question Flavian. They didn't invade but they might as well have. They provided weaponry, training, and air support including a no fly zone.

Using your logic NATO would be allowed to bomb the # out of any country whenever a group of rag tag terrorist rebels request assistance. Should NATO support Guerrillas in central America, bomb the country, and then just take off once the government is overthrown and allow the rebels to punish oppress the civilian population?

Its to bad they didnt voice their concern when Ghaddafi / Hussein were doing that while they were in power.

The sad thing is that Republicans can not even admit that they armed Saddam with WMD; training to use WMD and even real time intel so WMD could be deployed...... Repos love to trot out saddam at their convience yet it was repos under ray-gun who took Itaq off the US terror watch list and pushed for open trade so they could send Saddam WMD including weapons grade anthrax ......

Republicans love terrorists .... just pointing out the FACTS

Now hang on, the 'rebels' as you refer to them in Libya represented the majority of the population, those who were sick to death of repression. I know this for a fact as i have lived in Libya for 2 of the last 3 years, i still talk daily to Libyans about all sorts of things, not just work. There are lots of subjects on here that i make posts on that i do not know or have much understanding of. This however is an area i am comfortable with.

The people being slaughtered asked for help to stop the air and artillery campaign - this was given. If the 'rebels' had asked for a ground invasion, there would have been an obligation in place to have a plan to help rebuild and set up institutions. As there was no ground invasion, there was no obligation to have a plan in place - apart from anything else it is entirely.

I always find it amusing when actions like torture, lynchings and abuse all of a sudden become top priority for people when they can link it / blame it on the US / West.

Its to bad they didnt voice their concern when Ghaddafi / Hussein were doing that while they were in power.

Selective morals for the loss.

The problem is the bankers are using american technology and military hardware to enforce imperialism on every second and third tier nation.

Just like wall street is using china, india and taiwan for massive profit margins with their naive new take on what capitalism is and how much better it supposedly is than either communism or socialism.

The bankers and wall street ALWAYS win, while the populations involved with war get passed the bill and lose in every possible manner.

That is my problem with america and I am an american by birth, which enrages me even more! The people don't get to make any decisions, rather the decisions are forced on our representatives by old money farts.

What ever happened to France being on the forefront of military action in Libya? Wasn't it France who was pushing so hard to go in? But yet, since America played a part it is automatically the U.S. fault for everything in Libya. Just like how France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands is playing a similar role in Afghanistan - but yet they aren't taking all the flak like the U.S. is in Libya.

Well gee, these torturers wouldn't be in power if not for NATO intervention, and CIA/MI6/JTF-2 ground support. Seems like a logical assessment to me.

Remember how it only started off as a few hundred protesters at first? It was NATO that turned it into a rebellion. A logical person would turn suspicious as soon as the US and UK launched 100+ cruise missiles in an attempt to assassinate Gadhafi as soon as the UN speech for a No-Fly Zone was over.

And you don't think it's right to blame NATO for the current mess? Who do you think carried out 9000 bombing runs on Libyan infrastructure? Who bombed their water supplies and treatment facilities? Their univiersities? Hospitals? Government structure?
