Idea for new passenger plane design.

I came up with the idea when flying and wanted to look out of the window, but those small windows are hard to get a good look out of.. sooo

how about completly removing the windows, and instead place small cameras outside the plane pointing away from the plane in a 360 degress way completly covering the plane. and those cameras would stream live video to a inbuild screen completly surounding the passengers inside the plane..

that would make the floor, roof, sides appear transparent giving the passengers a awesome view.
red dots a small cameras

OMG...

just did a google for type-o´s .. and found out somebody allready came up with this idea...

I thought this was a repost of that pic you linked just now.

Not sure how much id like that much view, having said that i was taken to the cockpit once as a child to look our the front, and it was pretty damned awesome.

Glass floored planes however, might be a bit too much on take off and landing

Wouldn't it be a bit disorienting going to the bathroom?

It was Wonder Woman.
Granted not a passenger design though.

Cool idea. Could be done, though cost of production and maintenance will rise significantly. Another negative points - people who are afraid of flying or afraid of heights will not appreciate it very much. Percipitation/dust/smoke will blur video at times.
But i will buy ticket to this plane if it is not lot more expensive then the usual ones.

yes I bet it would be more expensive, but I think there is a market for it.
atleast they save some money by not installing the windows

but just thought of another thing, how would the passenger know if what they where viewing is real, they could be playing a movie of a simulation of a planecrash..

Transparent aluminum.

It would be awesome, unless being on a plane that crashes. With either systems...

how about playing a movie of a plane crash while flying ... that would freak the passengers out

There are new types of glass being created that have plastic and metal like properties as well as the all important transparrent quality.

If a transparrent material that was as durable (or preferably better) as the materials used to build planes now, it wouldnt make any difference in a crash - the horror of seeing it coming of course is whats really to be debated

Well, crashing in an invisible plane must make your brain busy. One part amazed at the sight, and the other one in panic mode, seeing everything in slow motion...
____

But you know, the idea could be expanded to submarines and space stations, like a hotel room?
