You should be THANKING the Democrats for blocking this vote - again.

Republicans have been trying to hand over the Web to a small monopolistic consortium that will crush competition on the Web.

From Al Franken:

In a procedural move, Senate Republicans are trying to overturn the rules that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) put in place late last year to help protect net neutrality -- the simple idea that all content and applications on the Internet should be treated the same, regardless of who owns the content or the website. The House already pushed through this dangerous legislation, which would effectively turn control of the Internet over to a handful of very powerful corporations.

NO need to be insulting. I am not Naive. I simply have a view different than your own apparently. YOu misunderstand my intention of the use of the word transparent as well. I made it as clear as I can and I can't explain it any better. Transparency is a double edged sword. They are just as transparent in there obvious abuses as there good intentions.

Not all of us are naive for thinking for ourselves and having a means of communication that does not get across to some fellow members. It happens from time to time so no offense taken.

Have a great day.

If this bill would have passed your service provider would have gotten to decide what content you could or couldn't access on the internet.

Which would still leave you the simple option of using a different provider.

So tell me how allowing ISP the ability to censor expression and any business interests they
please is a better and more reasonable state of freedom?

How about the simple option of using a different provider who does the same
thing?

Let me see if i can wrap my head around Government knows best here:

Trying Wrapping it around Sesame Street first buddy!

Internet service providers wanted to artificially slow down your bandwidth and
block you from seeing content that competes with your internet service providers
business, AKA less freedom for you.

Do you care?

Or is the real question, can you understand?

Do you really want to be censored, Neo? Explain the good in that, Neo?

Without net neutrality your IP could and likely would block pirate bay and most other download sites.

They could also block all porn sites and any other sites they or someone in local government or the local churches found offensive

No gay sites (not porn but forums)

You might get something like yahoo search paying your local IP not to allow Google search.

You also might get your IP taking money to allow advertising to annoyingly pup up on you computer all the time.

How would you like to be writing a post here on ATS and every couple minutes having to delete a pop up ad.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. ISP's are already free to do just that and none of them are stupid enough to do it because they know their customers would flee in mass to another ISP who does not do it. Honestly you people drinking the government cool aid that they need to protect us from the free market are simply amazing... Sigh!!! Yeah lets hand the reigns over to all the politicians and bureaucrats that have brought our country to the brink of disaster that will fix everything... Geeze it must be the fluoride in the water or something....
