I think NASA is packing the right type of hardware to probe Uranus and it appears to have enough thrust too.

It's official now..... the "Occupy Uranus!" movement has begun!

They have already picked out their theme song......
"Rocketman" by Elton John.
He is a big supporter of the Occupy Uranus movement.

Is that thing safe? I wouldn't want to damage Uranus.

I wonder if Nasa will have a contest to name the first probe of Uranus? That's the thing about Uranus the fun just never ends.

The adult in me says, this is an interesting scientific discovery.

While the kid in me says, this is the funniest thread ever.

I hope that they can take some samples of the atmosphere of Uranus while they are there.

I wonder if they will find any vegetation growing on Uranus?
What about life forms? They say that life can exist in very harsh environments like Uranus has.
Who knows what kind of creatures may be lurking around Uranus. Interesting to think about....

ist actually an interesting concept but wasnt Uranus to cold and dense to probe into?

What if Gene Roddenberry was right and they find Klingons on and or around Uranus?

That would be scary but understandable.

The composition of Uranus's atmosphere is 82.5 percent molecular hydrogen, 15.2 percent Helium, and 2.3 percent Methane.

Would the methane ignite if you somehow got an open flame in close proximity to Uranus?

I'm sure it will be safe - we just need to proceed slowly and carefully since it's such a big and powerful rocket, although sending a smaller probe first may be easier for Uranus. I also don't think we should just slam our rocket into Uranus on our first probing mission. We need to just carefully glide into Uranus so we don't do any damage.

I think that the first probe of Uranus should be named after the famous American politician Ben Dover - but I digress...

I thought I'd post a pic of the "Occupy Uranus" rally going on right now down at NASA headquarters here in Houston...

I find this thread on Uranus fascinating , can't wait to dig into Uranus!

One must be gentle and cautious with Uranus , it could be a gassy and volatile enviroment and could end in a messy dis-ASS-ter!
While probing Uranus one must take it slow and easy, not being to aggressive as to damage the encounter.
Uranal exploration should be approached with excitement and respect or any further Uranal encounters will be stopped short!
With love and enthusiasm Uranus can become a playground of wonder....respect Uranus and it's boundaries and all will enjoy it's secrets!

OMGosh - that's hilarious. i thought about going down to the occupy Uranus event, but I decided against it. It's a little muddy there I'm told.

OK in all seriousness are you seriously advocating that all 99% occupy Uranus?

Yes I have heard that the Occupy Uranus movement has been very fluid and forceful. I may be going viral in its attempt to open Uranus discovery for all. Nasa is considering upping protection for its Staff

I am a little worried that in the rush we may approach Uranus at the wrong time or in the wrong way, if we lose the first probe it may be hard to find the willingness for further attempts. Everything needs to be just right to achieve a successful Uranus entry, tolerances are tight.

The thread was closed, too bad it was amusing at least to me.

I just wanted to say that I dont blame the other posters in this thread it was my suggestive opening that started it. Anyways thanks all for the fun if anyone wants to try and play it straight with this one, please feel free. I dont think I can do it

I love Uranus! One of my favourite places!

You are brave, scobro. Not too many people would admit that so freely in a public forum.

Speaking as one who has been a fan of gassy giants since very young, I find that comment totally offensive. In fact it's a complete load of guff. I can understand if you come here to blow off steam, but really you're just creating a bad atmosphere...

There is enough room on Uranus for EVERYONE!
Here's another pic from the Occupy Uranus Rally that proves my point!
