Most Agree

For those of you who disagree with the OWS'ers, I think it is incumbent upon you to explain why. The "silent majority" have spoken and most of them agree with the aims of the OWS...

I get so tired of hearing, "Why are they protesting? Blah, blah, blah." If it isn't obvious to you then you are living with your proverbial head in the sand. The wall street tycoons received the biggest pay hike they have ever received after bringing about the worst economic collapse since the GREAT DEPRESSION. You should ask why to that, not why these people are protesting.

WAKE UP!!!!! WAKE UP!!!!

I've always been against corruption in government.
Just not against capitalism.

I'm also not a proponent for anarchy, socialism, communism etc.

If their message was just stop corruption, then I'd be all for it.

But when OWS gets endorsed by CAIR, Michael Moore, unions, socialism party, communism party, DNC, ACORN. . .. . well you get the point.

My problem with your logic is, how are protesters supposed to keep people from endorsing them? Are they able to say, "We're the 99%, but Unions, you're not, you're not allowed to join us". That would be stupid. It should be endorsed by all people, but since it was touted by the left early on, the right is too stubborn to see the common goal. People really are just stupid.

Funny tht the shoe is on the other foot. There was a thread not too long ago about David Duke just writing a letter to the Tea Party organization and the consensus was that the Tea Party was racist.

My response to you would be, why would they get endorsements from such groups?

Most of the reason people are selfish is because of how they are indoctrinated from birth into this idea that they deserve anything and everything they want, e.g., Capitalism. They don't consider the human or natural cost of their desires.

How much does a person need to be happy? LITERALLY NOTHING, because happiness REALLY DOES come from within, and that's not just some New Age tripe about peace and love. Thats what someone who has or is learning to master themselves will tell you. Someone with self control and will power.

These people who have a garage full of cars, private yachts, islands, multiple houses, tens of millions of dollars a year, and so on, they not only completely lack self control but they lack any sense of what they deserve. You have people who are consuming so many resources they could take care of dozens or hundreds or even thousands or tens of thousands of people on their personal wealth, and they FEEL THEY DESERVE IT.

Get. Real.

Its not just the fat cats on wall street, its the professional sports players, the Hollywood stars. Anyone who is living a lifestyle that is by default greedy. What is greed? Using more resources than you and your family need to survive. Keeping more wealth for yourself than you need to retire on, and that your kids need to get a good start to life. Thats greed, period.

The reason socialism is so fought against is because peoples limited egos are afraid of the prospect of fairness and equality, they don't want to consider that they may only really deserve enough to live on, they WANT enough to live 100 lives on, despite the fact that they certainly will never live to see that wealth. Its about want, desires, greed. Its not about what makes us human. Humans take care of each other and the planets resources. Its about what makes us inhuman.

I get your point. And it's valid. But a valid argument against it would be... How can you be against corruption, but not against the system that allows it, supports it, perpetuates it and rewards those that utilize it? And my personal addition to that would be... How can you be for a system that allows for the destruction of our environment in the name of profit?

Just because a communist/socialist/anarchist shares a point of view with someone else, doesn't mean that that someone else becomes a communist/socialist/anarchist (we can agree on some things and still disagree on others). If we stay divided in small groups, no one will do anything about the communal problems that we (as a society, as neighbors) are experiencing. We really need to see past our differences and come together to tackle the problems that our society shares... the problems are on a global scale and we need to be on a global scale to overcome them. Drop the titles of communist/socialist/anarchist/imperialist and you will see that we are all just people and nothing more.

I'm against bad doctors.
I'm against medicare fraud/abuse.
I'm against abuses to patients in nursing homes.

But I'm not against medicine.

See?

I'm still on the fence whether I support these folks or not.

While you may have a definite opinion on why people are protesting. I can introduce you to many others at the protests who will tell you that you are wrong and misguided.

They will tell you that their reason/opinion is why the people must rise up.

So you see, I’m not asleep, I’m observing.

The shoe is not on the other foot, I supported the Tea Party movement, but they got a whole lot of nothing done. As far as endorsements, if a racist f*ck wants to support the Tea Party, OWS, Barney and Friends, Society of American Asparagus Growers, or whatever, that's all them. Not the group as a whole.

Really?

Nothing?

We did plenty. And got blamed for much more.

Why though, does the White House support them? (OWS)

What did you guys get done? Seriously!? You got a whole bunch of two faced liars elected into office... AGAIN...They say they are going to change things and stick to their values, but as soon as they get into office, bam, they become more shills of the GOP.

Capitalism also rewards honest, hardworking people who pay their own way, don't live beyond their means, and make educated rational choices that will affect more than just the next 20 minutes.

I'd rather fix my computer than buy a new one. But maybe that's why I was able to pay off my student loans...

Alright, so now we're going to start twisting each others words around and putting them out of context eh? That's really NOT cool. And as far as protesting, I'm the one who started an OWS style protest in my city so you can just drop that spiel.

Well then, you've been there from the start in your city (I doubt you started it, but what does it matter anyways), what have you accomplished so far, and do you have any way to measure your success or lack thereof?

I'm not going to lie, besides raising awareness, we've gotten a whole lot of nothing done. We have however been collecting for our local food bank "OP Homegrown Stimulus" and that has been pretty successful.

Okay then, sarcasm and under handedness aside, do you have any plans besides feeding the homeless and raising awareness?
