Why can't Americans be as great as Europeans????

First let me say I am an American,

As I am watching the Chicago Bears vs.Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Westminister, London UK....and I was also listening to the radio at the same time, the Radio announcer said something I can't get out of my mind....He basically said that the crowds were really into the game, but not just going for one team or the other, just passionate to be there. He said that the crowd wave they were doing at the time was the best he had ever seen....
So he is an American Football announcer basically saying the crowds are better over there.

So the usual thoughts came through my mind about why Americans don't cheer for sports or why can't I go to a football game and have that much fun like Europeans do....

But then I really got thinking about how much more awesome their Occupy Wall Streets are then ours forbes europe occupy wallstreet

It says in that article just how big it is over there.....100,000 people strong at times in different cities


So this is really a message to Americans to understand that we need to up our game....In crowd cheering, and more importantly standing up to tyranny......

We are supposed to be the country who protested our way to becoming a country.

I give you a S/F out of respect for the time taken to post your thread. I don't agree with you view for one simple reason. I get sick and tired of people telling me what America is and what America feels, Based On Outside Opinions.!! I don't give a damn what UK or China Or Korea etc has to say and sure don't take stock in the opinions of Sports casters anymore than I care about MSM Newscasters..Furthermore what does cheering a sports event have to do with greatness?? Come on..

It's cheaper and easier to get around in Europe then it is in the US, much easier for them to all gather in one spot.

if i answered your question (as a european looking at america from the outside) it would probably upset most of the users on this site..

The crowd was most likley cheering the game on other than the teams because it isn't big over here, so the american football fans would be just happy to see a game. If you seen a football game its completely different, especially this weekend as there where 3 derbys, they can turn pritty bad.
The occupy over in mainland europe i recon is bigger because of the EU, many countries didnt and still dont want anything to do with the EU (the people, not the politicans)

have you actually travelled around europe? not sure how your prices are but i wouldn't say it was cheap.. and gather in one spot?? this doesnt make sense.. where exactly does this happen?

Yes I've traveled around Europe, not sure what you are asking though about gathering in one spot? I'm just saying more people can get to an Occupy movement event easily then here.

The real truth is that America is so great and so much better than Europe and we have so many awesome forms of entertainment to choose from that we are just used to it. However, the Europeans major sport is soccer. Could you imagine having that pile of crap as your only form of sports? Of course, they are going to be ecstatic after having nothing but the girliest form of sport ever created.

After all, if Europe was so great why did so many of them move over to America in the last few hundred years. You dont see tons of Americans hopping ships and planes to move to Europe.

Beyond all that, Europe had to turn socialist and give handouts to their people just to keep them from leaving. And beyond that, Europeans would not even be able to afford the lifestyle they have if it was not for us using our money to protect them. We basically subsidize their lifestyle.

But I think he's trying to say that it takes a fewer number of Americans to occupy the same standing space as it would Europeans due to size.

Europeans hate us because they envy us and they know they can never be as great as us. The good Europeans just admit it to themselves and do whatever they can to move here.

To dig a bit deeper, American NFL fans are great fans--some of the best I've ever seen. Baseball? Depends on where you are. Hockey? Not so much in the south. In Canada, Canadian football fans are feeble. Hockey is usually a good bet.

As for OWS, for the most part most North Americans, aren't nanny state liberals who think its their right from birth to have everything paid for by the state. Most Europeans want their handouts. That's why people in NA are not as riled up or interested.

The Wave? Lame. Lol. In any case, perhaps the difference in reaction is due to the relatively small presence of Am. Football in comparison to Football (Am. Soccer) and the crowds that would be attending. If anyone is suggesting that there is no competition or team loyalty, then they have not been to a real Football (Am. Soccer) game. Just my perspective, as an American.

you are the perfect example of a brainwashed.. believe me mate... you couldnt be further from the truth in your assumptions..

I disagree with your sentiment that Europeans are better than Americans but will not go into political, sociological, and overall mentality of the citizens of both countries.

People there are watching a game they have no favorites playing. If a rugby game was being played here in America between 2 European teams and I was there I would have fun and enjoy just being at the game but could care less who won. I wouldn't have a dog in the fight.

Being a stockholder in the Green Bay Packers NFL team, I technically am part owner of the team and have voting rights pertaining to the team decisions so I naturally cheer for them to win. Their 6-0 by the way...

Overall the post is just silly because when you generalize whole countries it is just not right.

It's kind of like saying all Fords are better than Chevy's......

Great point. Plus NFL Football is a warrior sport. Its violent. Its played by extremely tough men. People get seriously injured. Do you think Europeans would even play that sport with their own people? They have been so brainwashed into being fearful that they would be afraid someone might get hurt or killed then they would beg their nanny state to outlaw it.

Rugby = American Football with no armour/helmets, The only real gameplay difference is the Quaterback and cant pass forward.
