Regardless of whether he was good or bad for Lybia, what he did withihn the confines of his own country is none of our/Nato's business.
I would not want my son killed to save Lybians.
Would you sacrifice yours for such cause?

Need I mention how many innocent Lybians have died or were horribly maimed by Nato's bombs etc.?

It has been pointed out that the Real reason for all this had to do with the Rothschild banking cartel, which Lybia and most of African had spurned.

There is more to come.

Social Welfare

A government advertisement appearing in an international publication in 1977 asserted that the Libyan social security legislation of 1973 ranked among the most comprehensive in the world and that it protected all citizens from many hazards associated with employment. The social security program instituted in 1957 had already provided protection superior to that available in many or most developing countries, and in the 1980s the welfare available to Libyans included much more than was provided under the social security law: work injury and sickness compensation and disability, retirement, and survivors' pensions. Workers employed by foreign firms were entitled to the same social security benefits as workers employed by Libyan citizens.

Subsidized food, inexpensive housing, free medical care and education, and profit-sharing were among the benefits that eased the lives of all citizens. The government protected the employed in their jobs and subsidized the underemployed and unemployed. In addition, there were nurseries to care for the children of working mothers, orphanages for homeless children, and homes for the aged. The welfare programs had reached even the oasis towns of the desert, where they reportedly were received with considerable satisfaction. The giving of alms to the poor remained one of the pillars of the Islamic faith, but the extent of public welfare was such that there was increasingly less place for private welfare. Nonetheless, the traditional Arab sense of family responsibility remained strong, and provision for needy relatives was still a common practice.

You think he would have allowed that? I'm pretty sure from everything I have read that his idea was to free Africa from the Western world.

I'm sure instead he would have turned it into a booming economy for Ethiopians.

Now we'll never know.

You are missing the angle I am viewing this from.

I don't disagree. Please understand this. You too Flexy.

But, what has happened is not for the benefit of Libyans.

I don't disagree. I am just saying that his removal isn't being done for the benefit of the population, and if you are even half curious at why I have this opinion then I invite you to look at the 'bigger picture' with a more open mind. Research it for yourself. Look at what else Gaddafi was doing. For Africa.

Short term, maybe this was good, but the long term prosperity is now almost null. The west have their hands in Libya's pocket now. They're even touting about the 1 Billion pounds figure that should be 'payed back' for 'helping' with the 'war' (that was initially just protests).

The African stuff is all good on the outside. You need to consider his character, was this really about Africa, or himself? He never had many supporters, and it seems from pictures and accounts of the "war" a good few african "mercenaries" were present.

Libyan-scottish doctors account of when he went over there, said he thought some of the killers were from chad.
I know from my relations what it was like there, and you can decipher what he was like, a very complicated individual.

The rebels acted on their own accord, they united against how they were treated every day. Gaddafi realised that people could rise against him, hence all those human rights promises. They saw straight through that.

You know this for fact... How?

Links broken but I fixed it for viewing. Link

The problem with that article is the conflicting evidence given in this report:

But, as mentioned, I don't disagree. Feel compelled to keep discussing it but I know what you and everyone else here is saying, and I agree, somewhat, but it is about the underlying purpose.

Well, we don't have the benefit of his memoirs. at least as yet, but my guess is that he long ago knew of finite fossil power resource as in oil in the west, as well as elsewhere and probably knew latterly of the Saudi land grabs to produce alternative fuels. Conversely, and maybe more so now that he has gone, I don't think there will an immediate rush to make Ethiopia a pariah country/government that'll come later.

libya has 6 million people in the whole country. half of new york. it has hundreds of billions of dollars in oil.

literally the streets should be paved with gold and everybody driving bentleys.

greed doesn't know color or race. that is why the west want's it bad. if only one good person rose to lead libya, it would be the envy of the world.

the u.s. cannot allow that. now, instead of a non-compliant dictator keeping its people poor and american oil company's rich, it's going to have corrupt elected leaders being bought by "diplomacy".

sure the quality of life is going to improve, but if you live in a cinderblock hut, a project in the ghetto's of detroit will seem like beverly hills.

the people are going to rejoice, but it won't be a jewel in africa like it should be.

I see him providing homes for everyone as just another reason for the masters of puppets to want Gadaffi dead. After all, what is a Nation without some bloodsucking interest based credit system. Now I am no Socialist, but if one takes a step outside of the norm, it's not hard to see that everyone deserves atleast a roof over their head. Not food, water or welfare checks, but a roof over your head.

You see, The bottomfeeders that charge interest on home loans that most people never pay off before they die desire to keep the same system of corruption going full force. As long as people are spending all their money on insane Mortgages, they can't educate their children and can barely feed their own families. Look at the amount of these homes? It's insanity. Alot folks pay rent for most of their adult lives. Real Estate prices and credit interest is 2nd in the most evil of them all only to the $ itself

With all the latest useless wars, and all the bail outs for the international bankers, America could have provided housing for every single family in the Nation. Then it would be up to every individual to feed themselves, cloth themseves and gas their cars. Vacations would depend on one's salary. There would be more revenue to spend instead of all the interest going to the blood sucking banksters. Think about it for a minute. I can't believe a right-winger like myself actually agrees with what I just said. However, if you're gonna rape the Nation, atleast do it in order to help everyone live a better life. Is a home too much to ask? And know, Nobody is entitled to free healthcare. Sorry lunatics. ~SheopleNation

There is a reason why the Libyans turned on him. They were just fed up with being treated like dog crap on Gaddafi’s golden sandals. They were fed up with the brutality of the police state Gaddafi controlled and fed up with the corruption and cronyism.

Why'd it take them 40-some odd years?

Just curious.

Well, until there is a viable alternative to the banking system, what do you suggest? They say to the world "we need some medical supplies, will you swap for sand?" or "if i lend you Sohail for a few days, will you let us have some tractors?"

Come on, you're an intelligent individual who often makes some great points. Think about it a bit......

Viable alternative for the banking system is to get rid of them for good

Well, no i don't live a paranoid life in my nice little town in Essex. I can go out at night and not be afraid, my family members don't go missing or imprisoned, the countries prisoners don't get randomly slaughtered, i don't get put under a "law of collective guilt", not to mention all the other eccentric and sometimes aggressive things gaddafi carried out.

I don't understand this paranoia you seem to have. There's no point saying "gaddafi wasn't bad, THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT ARE MUCH WORSE!!!!". Dude, you don't have the fear of death or the fear of loved ones disappearing. We are lucky, even though the west's economy has been horribly mismanaged and there ARE things that have been covered up in the past and present, at least this down directly threat your life on a day to day basis.

The rebels acted on their own accord, they united against how they were treated every day. Gaddafi realised that people could rise against him, hence all those human rights promises. They saw straight through that.

I notice you fail to insert what I actually said, since you wished to misquote me totally.
I never said "Gadhafi wasn't bad" Nor your shouted The American Gov are much worse.

I said "I find it interesting because if a Dictator wants to shoot down a plane he does and says he did. In a nation run by CIA and unnamed black organizations our presidents and leaders can have a plane shot down and lie to the public about it and say how horrible the loss of these innocents are.

It saddens me that most people do not realize their own governments are doing the same as the dictator only in secret and with taxpayer money. "

Do you honestly think no one has had family members disappear in the US due to the government?
Do you not realize that the government has experimented on total towns and the many crimes against humanity that take place are simply hidden. When they finally come to light they are dismissed because it takes so many years for them to come to light.

I am not paranoid I am simply refusing to be ignorant.

Yea, no. People raided his palace. They wouldn't do that for George Washington...Hell George Washington wouldn't have a palace.

Whatever good he did, he did huge evil too.

I don't care that Hitler made millions of Germans debt free, he slaughtered millions.

I don't care that Stalin was a patriotic man who tried for the best. He slaughtered millions more.

I don't care that George Bush was a good Christian boy who kicked the beer addiction and was fair to his people. He slaughtered millions and destroyed the constitution.

I really don't give a damn what he did. He slaughtered people. Because the questioned him. He damned them in his speeches for not supporting him. To hell with this man. May he burn.

It appears all he did was bore them!

Muammar Gaddafi's 'trophy' body on show in Misrata meat store

Bloodied, wearing just a pair of khaki trousers, and dumped on a cheap mattress, Muammar Gaddafi's body has become a gruesome tourist attraction and a macabre symbol of the new Libya's problems.

Hundreds of ordinary Libyans queued up outside a refrigerated meat store in Misrata, where the dead dictator was being stored as a trophy. A guard allowed small groups into the room to celebrate next to Gaddafi's body. They posed for photos, flashing victory signs, and burst into jubilant cries of "God is great."

Wounds on Gaddafi's body appeared to confirm that he was indeed killed in cold blood in the chaotic minutes following his capture on Thursday.
