Which Japanese general was that? While his premise is fairly correct, the reason for it is incorrect. The IS will never be successfully invaded and occupied. But it won't be because you and cousin Earl have a subscription to the Rifleman - no, your peashooters woulda been pried out of your cold, head, missile-mangled hands pretty early on. No, we're impossible to invade, much less control, because we span a continent. Every nation's primary defense is geography.

The ammount of Citizens who legally own guns in the USA, VASTLY outnumbers any 3 armies in the world combined.

First, I doubt legality would matter in any scenario where a gun is something you want to have on you. Second, again, you're not going to stand up to military hardware.

So all the gun control idiots should take heed, until they take our guns, they cannot install Martial Law.

Yep, so long as they let you own your little useless peashooter, you'll let them strip everything else from the constitution. because like a good little consumer, you see owning a thing as being far more important than actually protecting all the stuff that makes that thing matter.

You know those guys in Afghanistan? They're armed to the teeth. With military hardware. They're militarily trained. They have terrain in their favor. And we keep blowing them up with what amount to kites. You think your local 101st Beerbellies are going to do any favors?

In these situations, personal arms are nothing. You want to defend yourself against government tyranny? Learn some # about bombs and artillery.

Actually most of those neighbors vote Republican and are thus demonstrably harmful to civil liberties. In a situation of supposed "martial law," these are the twats who will be lining up at the police station trying to get deputized so they can start murdering anyone they consider a "leftist."

I mean that's the whole stick. They only start talking about breaking out the guns when they think there's a whiff of socialism in the air, never when there's an imperial presidency throwing their tax dollars into pointless wars and AIG pay raises while prosecuting people for exercising their 1st amendment rights and depriving others of their 4th and 5th amendment rights.

I take some security in knowing that I'm a better shot than they are.
