Here you go.
Pic taken from La Jolla, CA around 11:20 PST tonight.

There are no clouds near the moon here, but still has a ring!

Well....you're in La Jolla. The OP is in North Carolina.

I'm in LA< so my view is about the same as yours.....that is, much different than the OP's.

Nice pics. The clouds are covering the moon which makes it hazy. No rainbow for me tonight.

Peae to all.

It worked for a split second for me then blinked off to a white red square box. Had to look quick.

You can't be serious right? I love how ice-crystals can explain everything.

Don't forget swamp gas...

I'm not going to bother going outside, since my house is surrounded by huuuge Oak trees. I would have to walk a ways in the dark.

I concur with the ice crystals hypothesis, as the sources that explain this phenomenon offer a great explanation.

well done on spotting it.

I seen a moon halo for the first time last year and it was awesome, chapped up half the street to have a look

There are some tall trees blocking the view of it here right now. There are lots of stars out though
. And on a personal note... It's chilly outside!

Impossible since I dont live where you are and you dont even tell us where yo live. It is local atmospheric and weather conditions causes things like rings.

That's cool
Around here (Buenos Aires, Argentina) we get those all the time. Both with moon and sun.
And it's awesome.

I seen this last night.... was absolutely beautiful. Also has anyone noticed how the past few days the moon has been out EXTRA early. I've been seeing the moon in the sky with the sun starting around 3-4 pm... i thought that was slightly odd.
