DO NOT park on the strip !! especially NYNY, Monte Carlo or any lot that exits onto LV blvd !!!


Best safe bets:

park behind MGM in their lot (easy exit to Koval street, then turn left)

or

park behind Excaliber/Luxor or even Mandalay Bay (easy exit to Sinatra street either direction)


avoid any traffic jams if the cops start closing the strip !!!!
they CAN do that !

avoid Tropicana Ave also.

alert as many people as possible.

I don't think there will be too big of an issue parking as long as they don't cut through the casino floors to get to the strip, but you are correct, they should use them only as a last resort to avoid any chance of problems.

There is parking on the opposite side of the highway on tropicana, but you have to walk down, and also take the chance of it being blocked if the protest grows too large. Another possibility is parking further down the strip and taking the bus or monorail down to mgm.

watch the educational system in america at work folks

protesting wall street where? vegas where else? california? yeah the dumbification of america is complete when they all now get their "Collective intelligence" from the internet.

the should be protesting at the whitehouse but dont pay no attention to that common sense

New York, California, Las Vegas...they're all protesting the same issues, these are not stand alone protest. People a lucky to have a house or a job to make ends meet right now, let alone have the extra money to fork out for an over priced plane ticket to new york or dc. The point is they are making their voices heard regardless of where they are. I'll be the first to agree these issuse need to be brought to the whitehouse as well, but it is corporate money that is funding the corruption, so why not protest the source?

Also, keep in mind nevada has the highest forclosure rate in the country...that alone should be a reason to protest. People are loosing their houses left and right, and they're being sold right out from under them to the first person with cash on hand. These are no lowlifes that don't pay their bills, these are everyday people that have been screwed over by overpriced loans or the rediculiously high unemployment rate.

dont see them protesting unions a major source but nope just protest wall street instead of the people and place who are elected and write the laws of this country and who enforces them.

and those unions joined them and now corporate and union money is behind them

I'm personally deeply against the union involvement myself, but the unions "just" got involved. This has been going on well before union involvement. If they feel they want to support the protesters issues, then by all means...but this was never about the unions, its about the 99% of the population being manipulated by the 1%. That 99% incudes all union workers...

Big crowd guys! Just shut down Tropicana intersection for a little while because the crowd was so big...be even worse the next lap around.

i'm amy, xuenchen's wife.

he called before at 6pm and said to tell people there are about 1000 people.

but not sure. some tourists are walking with people.

some tourists think this is a movie or something.

he said some police were walking and talking with the people and seem ok.

police did stop some cars but no big trouble.

he will post back later.

we have to go to work later.

he could not walk all the time but catched backed up later off and on.

we are not kids .... both us are over 50.

he's glad no big trouble.

I know Las Vegas pretty well.

The rich people in Vegas are all in the big hotels, resorts, and casinos. They are the people who need to see this, but they won't, because everything in Vegas is "inward-looking." Each of the big Casino/hotel complexes is like its own little self-contained universe. You could stay in the MGM Grand or the Luxor or any one of the other ones like that for weeks on end without even going outside, or even knowing if it is night or day. The "whales" have their every whim catered to without ever coming into contact with the "riffraff."

Vegas may be one of the least-public, most unnatural cities in the world. Ever try to be a pedestrian in vegas? Its not fun. Many of the streets don't even have sidewalks! Rich people are sealed in their own little world and zip from casino to casino in taxis or limos without ever even breating the outside air. (Of course Vegas is very different for locals, but this is not who will be targeted by the protests).

I guess the strip is the best place for this, but it won't really effect the rich people in Vegas. I'm sure most of them will have no idea it is even happening.

I was there for part of it.

Some people actually seemed to understand what they were doing.

Many however were in the clouds.

I asked a few people if they were comfortable with secondary organizations getting involved financially.

Nobody understood what I was talking about.

One funny thing was tourists.....

Some were walking along with the protesters and asking which movie or tv show this was for !!!!!

Some out of towners got a kick out of the police on horses....

They thought that was all part of the show !!!!

One woman actually asked a cop if this was an episode for a reality show !!!!

Yeah, caught some of that myself.

I think its too early to say if it was successful. They were expecting 300-500. The way trop had to be shut down says to me there was deffinately atleast that and probablly more, but there are still a lot of tourists in town so I'm sure they contributed to the numbers. I think today will tell us more if the protest continues. Last I heard the initial plot of land being negotiated to allow them permanent occupation fell through though, so we will see. I'm hoping they keep it up. It looked good even if some were tourist. If the strip traffic starts getting shut down on a daily basis like that you can deffinately bet they'll get the media attention they're seeking.

One thing I will say though, is it looked like a lot of union involvement too. I'm hoping they keep their minds on the goal and not make this a union only thing. A lot of people I've talked to after the march have blatently called it a Union protest. If that continues to be the mindset of the observers its probably going to hurt their cause.
