before you proceed, read this information on SpyNoMore.

As others have suggested: try the solutions by F-Secure... they deliver the best protection I know of (from my early wintendo-days).
I personally would NEVER use a WEB-Based product to keep my systems save

yup sounds like you got a virus or something. i donwloaded fire fox not to long ago and after a month i reformated my computer because some virus was lurking that i couldnt get rid of. the virus even erased my saved files for doing a roleback. so no more fire fox for me.
here a good site for free and non free software and other links for info.
freebyte.com

I have used Firefox for years and not once had a problem. Keep a reasonable AV system up to date and scan on a regular basis and you should be fine.

Firefox alone won't stop viruses, you need to run firewalls and antivirus software to prevent that.

Oh and stop visiting porn sites
They are crammed full of viruses.

Thats why I deleted the post - I realised something was wrong when I noticed my google results. I looked again and figured it was fishy, so deleted my post immediately. Then re-wrote it.

Well, considering I have run Firefox with AVG Free Antivirus and Spybot running on my machine and I have never had a virus then perhaps you should have another look into it?

Firefox itself is not going to protect your system - it's just a browser. One must run other software in order to keep out the nasties.

BTW Kapersky, while a good program, won't catch everything. I run several programs to get it all.

You are hijacked, get ccleaner, spybot s&d, and hijack this. WARNING! back up what ever you can first.

#1. Restart your computer and keep pressing F8 or F6, start the computer in "safe mode with networking", then back up your stuff. Download the programs, update them and run in this order: CCleaner, then spybot. If that doesn't do it, you will need to run Hijack this, but DON'T DO ANYTHING except run and save a log file. Post your log file on here and we will sort through it for you.

Hijackthis: free.antivirus.com...

Ccleaner: www.filehippo.com... hit the download latest version on the right...

Spybot: fileforum.betanews.com...

Also, go to your add/remove programs (programs and features) and sort by date...DO you see any programs in there that have been recently installed? Remove them.

Ok. I tried following along here. I did read all comments, but I read rather quickly.

The general overall conclusion, is that this was/is some sort of virus.
Is this ↑ statement correct?

Also, this came from the the 'Enigma Amgine' link, whatever the hell that is.
Is this ↑ correct?

If both of my previous statements are correct, then why is that site still being promoted on ATS?

In the ATS Sponsored Games & Events Forum, I see 5 threads started on this game. As far as I can tell, the main thread is still moving along quickly, with over 600 replies during the last 17 hours. Even if 'Wide-Eyes' is the only person who has had any noticeable problems, and if it did come from that link, then shouldn't those other members, who are still doing whatever it is they're doing on that enigma site, be warned about this possibility?

Personally, this is enough of a reason for me to not even get involved with that thread, but I am still curious about what this actually is. Is this ATS Sponsored Whatever, actually installing virus' and/or spyware?

Yes.

No. The OP was using that website when it happened but it has nothing to do with the website. That website.....Enigma Amgine.....is actually the new game website ATS has set up for us to play

Again, the site is the portal for the new ATS game, but it had nothing to do with the OP's problem - that was merely coincidence.

No.

Thanks for the reply.

I think I'm still gonna stay out of that though. 600+ posts is just way too many to sift through, just to try to figure out what the hell it is.

It's a game, similar to the one that drew me to this website in the first place way back in 2008.

It's not meant to be easy
Give it a shot though, if it runs the same way the last one went then pepople will post updates every few pages or so.

Hi all.

I need some advice, I logged onto my PC just ten minutes ago. As usual I came straight onto ATS as I do most mornings to see the latest posts. As I looked through the threads I entered the Enigma-amginE thread. Then I checked the Enigma page and tried entering a few numbers in the text box at the bottom with no success.

BUT then, my browser froze up and I recieved an error message:

I don't mean to sound unsympathetic, but
which numbers did you type in?

I was attacked last night and had to do a system restore. I didn't even go to any webpages that would have infected me. Probably a trojan from a movie download.

open a command prompt.

type format c: /q

then type y then enter, that should fix it.

j/k dont do that, its a secret command from the us government that makes your computer faster.

I've tried all of the AV's listed from Norton to f-secure and still got viruses and malicious code. The best I have found is Comodo Internet Security www.comodo.com...
Download the free version not the free trial. In five years, I have never had any problems.

Thank you, I am trying to install that now as AVG wouldn't install. Really hope this one works, search and destroy didn't fix the problem.
