hello all
right now in the north west of UK, Lancaster there is what seem to be lights dancing in the clouds to the south
they have been there for 20mins so far
they are circling and dancing in and out
i know this sounds strange but please look and you will see it
its only visible on the clouds and not the clear areas of sky between
what is it?
please help
i cant film as i dont have the camcorder as my family are away on holiday with it

the only way i can describe is looking at rippling water with light shining off it
its the strangest thing ive ever seen
its realy bright on thick clouds but less bright on thin clouded areas
please anyone near the lancaster UK area look and check it out

I have a friend in Lancasters, I rung him.

He could see anything.

Sounds really interesting though, is there no way you can get footage. Camera phone?

another way of describing it is its like 20 spot lights all pointing towards the sky but and circling together in unison
like a kalidescope (spelling)
its realy crazy!

Is there a Rave on?

Do you have any pictures, even cellphone snaps?

Hi GezinhoKiko ,lots of night clubs , raves , fairgrounds and festivals use high intensity spot lights that shine into the clouds these days to produce a light show. They spin round and make patterns etc, usualy with anything up to 20 spots. They can look quite spooky sometimes. I know there are plenty of festivals and music events in the UK this bank holiday weekend but i dont know if there are any in your area.

Do you think what you are seeing could be one of these?

Actually that makes sense given this comment:

its realy bright on thick clouds but less bright on thin clouded areas

It sounds like a light show reflecting off the clouds, it is bank holiday weekend after all.

no nothing like that
imagine 20-30 people standing in a circle with powerful spotlights all pointing up and the circling in and out in perfect unison
its still happening!!!
i just found my sisters old mobile and filmed it but i cant see anything on the footage
i will upload and maybe it can be seen when enlarged

yes that does sound like it
ive lived in lancaster most of my life and have only seen light shows over morecambe bay
but thats what it looks like to me, a light show
but im only 1 mile from town and i cant here anything
but i have to say its the only thing that makes sense
it looks mechanical as in the uniformity and its not moving off in any direction so yea it has to be a light show
im going to see whats on in lancaster tonight and let you know

where in Lancaster are you? Its a long shot but one suggestion may be the Leeds & Redding festival, pretty far I know but light can travel, just a suggestion.

I agree I can't find anything either. Makes if less likely to be a light show. Any fun fairs in the area?

Go towards the lights! Go towards the lights!

But in all seriousness, you need to grab a vehicle and drive towards them. Figure out what they are.
