Pretty young women and older men of means -- 'sugar babies' and 'sugar daddies' -- are pairing up thanks to a US website that openly offers companionship for money, but balks at the word prostitution.

SeekingArrangement.com (SA) -- which bills itself as the "premier Sugar Daddy dating site" -- does not beat around the bush.

"We are a matchmaking website for wealthy benefactors, and attractive guys and gals," its front page says.

There is nothing new about "spring autumn" relationships and anyone with half a brain in their heads knows that money is usually an issue (although not always...sometimes younger women are attracted to older men for other reasons, believe it or not).

This article should be of interest to ATS because it relates to changing social structures, i.e., what is acceptable in terms of relationships, what is kept taboo, and how money, power, sexuality, gender, and society affect each other.

Personally, I cannot blame women and men who decide to do it. It is a hard world and people need to do what they need to do. This kind of thing would happen anyway; all the Internet does is make the process more efficient, saving a lot of time and akwardness.

On the other hand, I believe a relationship is a sacred thing, should be rooted in love. I would never do this, and I would save myself for somebody who loves me and who shares the same faith and conviction in the Lord as me. This is just me. But again I can't blame others for acting differently.

A close friend of mine is a kind of "Internet flirt." She sets up a page full of clothing "wish lists" and men who want can buy her clothes through PayPal. She then "models" them for her "friends" and spends time chatting and texting and flirting with them. She has like 15 guys eating out of her hand and all the clothes and toys she wants. Forever trying to get me to do the same thing but it's so creepy!

But there is a difference between "modeling" online (nothing perverted) and dating. Or is there? It gets so confusing...

Anway, what does ATS think? Is this acceptable, or the sign of a troubled society in decay?

Saw this on the morning news shows recently. I would say consenting adults should do what consenting adults do. It's their decison/choice to participate in their life and that is sort of the beauty of living in a free society. Though, on HLN they had a speaker basically stating it's a form of prostitution. People make arrangements every day that you or I might not agree with so I'm going to say I'm okay with it, as long as it's consensual and free will is respected.

So when are you going to share your username with us?

If it truly is prostitution, it doesn't really matter. Prostituition is one of the oldest professions and a very lucrative one. It isn't going away. And there are parts of the world where it is a legal and regulated industry.

I don't see anything wrong with what your friend does as long as she isn't promising more of a return on her "clients' investment." I hope that she has screened them well enough that something bad doesn't happen to her.

These sorts of (get-togethers) have been going on (probably since the dawn of man and woman). The men are older and rich....the women are young and attractive. The men want eye candy on their arm and a sexual affair....the women want a lot of money spent on them and a lot of things bought for them. They are doing a bartering system (of sorts). There is no love involved.....at best I would say....lust and like.

Would I do this? No...but I do understand why people do. I am a romantic and I am very independent ......I need the love and romance and I take care of myself....buy things for myself etc.

SWIM (someone-who-isn't-me) knows that you can log on to almost any major porn-video site to watch and tell "webcam models" what to do. Anyone with a webcam can be a paid "webcam model," and anyone with a credit card can... well... you know do sick, disgusting stuff that I would know nothing about.

The OP sounds more like a high-class escort service that is now online too. I am not sure why it is so expensive, as in thousands of dollars though. Maybe, the ladies are worth it or maybe the guys are that rich and dumb. SWIM should check it out and get back to us...

Those girls might want to be careful with facial recognition technology and such. I browsed some sites for fun with a friend one evening. We were surprised by the people's profiles whom we knew in real life. Of course, they were the gold digging, plastic types of girls.....no surprise really. I saw that one girl had profiles on every site we looked at. It's kind of strange. It did cast her in a new light in my mind and not a very flattering one. Unless the site is doing serious credit checks on applicants then I can see this leading to some very odd situations

when sex is exchanged for money with men there is no sugar coating needed . The girl is paid for and your time is now reserved . What do I think about it?

I think the dam universe is trying to send me a message since the past couple of weeks this subjects intrudes in my daily important stuff to do, Like figuring out how to blow up the moon and pondering on WDTSG, and other important stuff.

This subject and simmilar subjects have interjected themselves here and there at the most wierd of times for the past couple of freaking weeks, and not only on the internet.

That's what i think, its a freaking conspiracy, and it must stop because there is nothing to it.

So here is what I think.....I really don't give a #, its there live let them do what they want it's been going on since the dawn of humanity in one form or another, so why should it matter now. There all adults and they all know what there about and doing.

So meh who cares.

People have been saying that this will decay society ever since society was invented, and it has not done that yet, nor will it, because this is pretty normal behavior for lots of people in all societies that ever existed and most likely ever will.

Oh and partygirl once again you make me look/goggle up some big words or group of words that you always use in your threads, and this time it was the whole "spring autumn" relationships thing. And the same answer I think is that your right in your assumption and that its all obvious and has been obvious, and normal behavior. So as long as there not breaking any laws or being forced into it, if there doing it by there own free will.

Then its there live and there choice so who really cares. This whole stigma around this whole thing really does not make sense to me at all. And I know why the stigma was created in the first place.
