Tax fraud suspected in Obama land deal

The "buffer zone" parcel at the Obama family mansion in Chicago's upscale Kenwood neighborhood purchased by the wife of convicted felon Tony Rezko was transferred to Barack and Michelle Obama without ever being assessed or taxed, in apparent violation of Illinois law, according to a debt-collection expert.

"The Cook County Assessor's Office told me that there is no record of any tax assessment having been done on this transfer of the buffer zone property into a Northern Trust Co. Deed in Trust," Albert Hendershot told WND.

Hendershot, president and owner of Innovative Portfolio Recovery Inc, a debt collection and skip tracing company based in Birmingham, Ala., noted the buffer zone "does not have an address attached to it, which is probably how the assessment and tax were avoided."

There's some CHANGE. Property changing hands with insider help to avoid taxes. And you thought forging birth certificates and identities was the only thing Obama was good at?

just curious, is it the seller of the property who has to pay the taxes or the buyer ?

If there is concrete evidence that this is true then the POTUS is indeed a fraudster and a conman! Has he done other kinds of fraud before..............? I seem to recollect!

"Waste" millions to investigate and prosecute the commander-in-chief, vs. those same millions wasted buying a few minutes or hours of our various illegal wars. I think we can spare the piddling millions to investigate the "most powerful man in the world."

Why should it take millions?

The last administration commits murder and theft in our name and we do nothing...And this administration continues that policy..but by all means let's focus on some land deal. AGAIN.

William Miceli is a lawyer at the Chicago law firm Miner, Barnhill & Galland, which also formerly employed Obama.

The controversy began when a website called News and Commentary for Thinking People published a 48-page document that lists Miceli as the owner of the Obama home at 5046 S. Greenwood.

[color=limegreen]Miner, Barnhill & Galland was Obama's employer when he did extensive legal work for Rezko, who awaits sentencing after he was convicted in June of fraud, money laundering and bribery-related counts.

Miceli, as a senior attorney at the firm, supervised Obama when the future president wrote letters on behalf of Rezko urging public authorities to award him new public properties to rehabilitate, notes the "Barack Book" website maintained by GOP.com.

WND asked for comment from Obama's transition team and the Democratic National Committee but did not receive a response.....

The law firm changed its name when senior partner Allison Davis left to join Rezko in his schemes to take out loans on low-income housing projects. Several of the transactions remain under investigation, because the millions of dollars Rezko borrowed against the properties to make redevelopments are gone, while many of the properties remain boarded up and uninhabitable.

Rezko has since been convicted, sentencing has been delayed until Oct 2011.

Following the Jan. 21 Democratic Party primary debate, Miceli told the Washington Post that he was Obama's supervisor at the law firm, in response to Sen. Hillary Clinton's charges Obama had worked for a Chicago slumlord, Rezko.

The Post said "Obama denied doing any legal work directly for Rezko or his companies," contending Obama had done only "about five hours worth of work" on a joint real estate development project involving Rezko and a Chicago church group.

Miceli told the Post Obama "was a very junior lawyer at the time, who was given responsibility for basic due diligence, document review."

Miceli said Obama "did what he was told by the firm," minimizing the importance of any work Obama admittedly did for the Rezko account.

Nearly 150 people packed a recent Chicago Police Board meeting to hear a response to the violence, which includes four slayings in a little more than three months — all within about a mile of the president's home on a block of million-dollar brick mansions........

In the most recent slaying, Tony McCoy, the son of a popular Chicago Park District mentor who organized violence prevention activities in addition to basketball tournaments, was gunned down in broad daylight less than three weeks ago. Although police said they believe the recent violence was gang-related, McCoy's parents are adamant their son was not a gang member.

If this were anybody else, this would be headline news for months. But this won't stay out there for long since it's about obama.

Sounds like an 80's action movie where the MOB is trying to get everyone in the neighborhood to sell off all thier property so the MOB could cash in, Where is Dirty Harry when you need him?

Why is it one or the other? Our country only has one lawyer now? The money spent would be pennies compared to the financing of the murder and theft you mention. I support any and all legitimate legal actions toward ANYONE in any position of power.
