I'm not one to go half cocked and start threads,I prefer to read ,research and reply but this needs to be posted.
got a call from one of my coworkers working the Tulsa area today and he witnessed this at 9:45am this morning(7-20),a commercial airliner, appearing to be a 747 ,being escorted and forced to land in the Tulsa area by military airplanes.
can't seem to find anything on this and usually when a civilian aircraft gets escorted ion to land it makes the news. My coworker called the local news and they told him they would look into it.
Anyone else in Tulsa ,OK know anything about this?

also on a related subject on Friday 7-15-11 our entire drive staff including myself witnessed what appeared to be a NEST team in the Oklahoma city area scanning buildings and traffic along I-40,two things that seem related in a week.

More likely, it was the Air Force version of the 747/P8A with the test aircraft that participate in the airborne laser cannon project arriving at Tinker Air Force Base (KSZL) which is just SE of Tulsa. Flightaware shows no arrival or departures for a civilian 747.

Tinker AFB is Southwest of Tulsa, OK and is located in Oklahoma City, OK.

There isn't a military airfield of note in Tulsa OK.

No big deal... I see DOE/NEST on I-40 in and around Oklahoma City, OK all the time... It's a common route as the Pantex plant in Amarillo, TX and Kirtland in Albuquerque, NM are on I-40 as well.

Most people don't notice or realize what they are looking at... I am not blessed in that way...

nah their armor looks better than mine.
Anyways My coworker is 100% sure it was a civilian plane, enough so that he called the news.
I asked him why he didn't start video taping as we are all equipped with video cameras and digital cameras to which he told me he didn't think to react.
being as close as we are to Tinker it's pretty easy to distinguish Military planes from Civilian.

Why would you say "forced to land"? You are adding intent there with no real evidence. "Being escorted"? OK. I can see that, but "forced to land"? I don't think you can get there. Also, if it is a "commercial" airliner, then which airline was it? Their markings are well known. Surely, if the witness was close enough to discern the escorts, there is a good chance he could tell which airline the plane belonged to.

The thing about that is they usually are in a group of 7,this was several differing vehicles spaced from I-35 Dallas Junction to the 240/I40 junction near Choctaw. That is what called attention, there were 10 of us moving up and down I40 that day and all of us saw it,we were radioing back and forth to each other because it's just something you don't see every day and believe me we all see some weird crap on the road and that stood out.

I trust him,he words to me were "swarming like bees" around the aircraft,I am skeptical that's why I posted to see if anyone else in the area had seen it.This driver is former military and he doesn't just jump at anything but it struck him enough to call KFOR and KOKC.

Also note I didn't see it myself,he called me and asked me to start fishing for info, this being a good resource....
